How to implement meta descriptions for accelerated mobile pages with WordPress?
-
Is there a way in which meta descriptions can be altered on AMP pages? The meta description is not pulling from the original page for each post, and current plugins such as Yoast/Glue for Yoast & AMP by Automattic do not appear to offer customisation of titles/meta descriptions.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I ran into the same problem with that plugin - but I've tried everyone that WP currently has to offer and didn't see that option on any of them. My guess would be that they're not currently using it because AMP is only showing in the carousel right now, which doesn't pull in meta descriptions. I suspect they'll be updating it accordingly as Google continues to put more emphasis on AMP.
*edit - As of Tuesday, Google is including AMP in the core search results, so hopefully plugin update is coming soon

Hi Sam,
We are one of the few companies which are working on AMP (accelerated mobile pages) , we have an early mover advantage with us.
I am not here to advertise us, but tell you and others about the challenges being faced with AMP
- AMP is still in starting development stages and there is not support available for any trouble you face (community or product support is almost negligent).
- The plugins for Yoast are less than efficient to resolve any issues you face.
As for your question about meta description in AMP, there is some good help available on this link https://www.ampproject.org/docs/guides/responsive/style_pages.html
Disclosure : We implemented AMP for our site, faced some technical SEO issues and stopped using it, we will prefer to see actual impact on SEO on other websites and then get back into business again.
I sincerely hope this helps you and others who are trying their hand with AMP.
Regards,
Vijay

What does it exactly means when Google brings the "brand name" to the beggining of the page title in search results when it was actually given at the end?
We see many times...page titles starts with "brand name: page for etc" where actually "brand name" has been given at the end and keywords at beginning. Why does Google make this change? I noticed this happens when similar title tags are used by multiple websites for high difficulty keywords. Thanks

UX & Product Page Design
Hi I have a question regarding UX testing. Is it best when testing a product page to: 1. Redesign and test the new page - if it works, test elements to see what worked. 2. Start testing element by element to see what has a positive impact. We have differing opinions within the company, and I'd like to hear some feedback from others in the industry. Thank you

Delay between being indexed and ranking for new pages.
I've noticed with the last few pages i've built that there's a delay between them being indexed and them actually ranking. Anyone else finding that? And why is it like that? Not much of an issue as they tend to pop up after a week or so, but I am curious. Isaac.

Why is a sub page ranking over home page?
Hey guys! I was wondering whether any of you Mozzers out there could shed some light on this query for me. Currently, one of our clients is ranking (on the second page, at least) for one of their target keywords. However, it's not the home page that is ranking - it is a sub page. I guess you could say both are targeted to rank for the keyword in question but the home page has a considerable more PA (+10) and has a lot more incoming links so it's a little bit baffling as to why the sub page has been given an advantage. Does anyone know why this may be? Also, on a secondary note, should I continue to build links to the home page or target this particular sub page to have a better chance of ranking higher for the keyword? Any advice on this welcome! Cheers!

Gifts.com - Multiple domain pages in SERPs
One of our big natural search competitors for gift keywords is Gifts.com. We are competing for many keywords like "teen gifts", "gifts for him", "gifts for her". For many of these, the Google SERP has multiple Gifts.com pages on the first page. I have never seen more than one of our pages (uncommongoods.com) on a SERP page. Any clue how/why Gifts.com has multiple pages in search results ? Thanks!
