How Does This Site Rank So Well?!
-
So this website -> http://bailbondsripoffreport.com/
Ranks on the First Page for the term "Bail Bonds"
It's the spammiest crappiest piece of junk website ever! lol - How does this site rank so well, it's not even a year old and it's link structure is crap.
Can I like report them and have them removed lol.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I agree with Ryan's response. It's always good to do competitive analysis but stay away from the spammy websites and do some article marketing and social book marking if you have to, provide high value content to the market in that niche instead of reporting it. Be the market leader for that niche. Good luck.
-
Im a developer and seo for a bail bonds company and I am always blown away with the amount of weird programs and services they all sign up for. I'm the only white hat seo and I can see these guys doing everything in the book to try and beat us.
-
As much as you want to report sites like that, its not really worth your time without the hard facts. i agree with Ryan here that you would have to put a pretty good case together. otherwise, forget about it.
You could probably win the game by getting a few high authority links to your site, do some of your own article marketing, and if you have some sort of social accounts, the social signals would boost your site above theirs.
Looks like most sites are pretty crappy for this search result, which mean opportunity.
-
That makes a lot more sense.
If you have any evidence of a site using paid links, you can submit that information to Google. http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/paidlinks?hl=en
I would advise caution. You will need to be logged into your Google account when reporting this issue. You will need to offer specific logic in your report. Google recognizes many site owners wish to report competing sites. Try to find some reasonable evidence of a violation before submitting a report.

Thanks for the answer there! I was aware of all the above I guess my main question is about the links coming to the site. Most are just spam and non related.

How does this site rank so well
A large part of SEO is quite scientific. Google and other search engines have shared how a page should be designed to offer the best value to users. They have also shared how a page should be designed so it is recognized for their ranking factors. This page does very well on SEO measurements, which is why it ranks well.
Can I like report them and have them removed
What exactly would you like to report them for? There are specific processes to report sites which violate existing rules. Which rule is violated, and how?
Some specific responses about this site's ranking for the term "bail bonds":
-
The keyword phrase is in their domain name. That is a very powerful ranking factor.
-
The keyword phrase is in their page title. "Bail Bonds Rip Off Report | Avoid Being Scammed!"
-
The keyword phrase is in their H1 tag: "Bail Bonds Rip Off Report"
-
The keyword phrase is also in their H2 tag: "Common Bail Bond Scams"
-
The keyword phrase is in their alt text: "Bail Bonds"
-
The keyword phrase is used extensively in the site's content.
-
The site is only 5 pages. An "about us" page, a "contact us" page, and then this article which is paginated over 3 pages. This is a website dedicated to a single article. The site has hundreds of links to this article, PA is 48.
In summary, this website is dedicated to a single keyword phrase. It executes on all the basics of SEO both onpage and offpage. I would fully expect this page to appear on the first page of SERPs.
I can only guess this page is damaging to your business and you would like to not have it on the first page of results. There are steps you can take to knock it off the first page of Google, but it would require time and effort. If this website is creating problems for you, I would recommend hiring a SEO to minimize the damage.

How can a site rank high without any visible SEO tactics?
Hi SEO specialists, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but there is something bugging me for awhile now, so I thought let's give it a try. I work for several clients and one of them works in the Psychic business. Since a few months we see that site from Psychicvop.com is taking over all kinds of top rankings in Google. The strange thing is that I can't detect anything that I always learned which is basic material for SEO. There isn't much content and there link profile isn't really spectacular either. Does any of you have an idea what it is about this sites that makes them outrank every other site in the business?

New site failing to rank - could this be why?
I have a new client site that is not appearing anywhere in the top 100 for its main keywords. ASSUMING that this is not an issue with optimization or link quality, I am wondering whether it might be the following... The client's company has a parent company whose website has decent authority. This website links to the new (client) website. In addition, the 2 press releases we have done include links to both companies, since one was an outgrowth of the other. This is all 100% natural, so my inclination is that this is not causing the issue. But does anyone have any experience to suggest otherwise? That having website A linking to website B, and 50+ press release websites linking to both, could be causing the algorithm to throttle website Bs ability to rank? Thanks in advance!

How much SEO damage would it do having a subdomain site rather directory site?
Hi all! With a coleague we were arguing about what is better: Having a subdomain or a directory.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Gaston Riera
Let me explain some more, this is about the cases: Having a multi-language site: Where en.domain.com or es.domain.com rather than domain.com/en/ or domain.com/es/ Having a Mobile and desktop version: m.domain.com or domain.com rather than domain.com/m or just domain.com. Having multiple location websites, you might figure. The dicussion started with me saying: Its better to have a directory site.
And my coleague said: Its better to have a subdomain site. Some of the reasons that he said is that big companies (such as wordpress) are doing that. And that's better for the business.
My reasons are fully based on this post from Rand Fishkin: Subdomains vs. Subfolders, Rel Canonical vs. 301, and How to Structure Links for SEO - Whiteboard Friday So, what does the community have to say about this?

Seo for international sites
Hello, I have a question for the group, our main US site- http://www.datacard.com is utilized to move content to other regional sites like http://www.datacard.co.uk/ and http://www.datacard.fr/ and http://www.datacard.com.br/. Anyhow, we essentially have some regional content on those sites, but for ease of maintaining and updating the content we have a company translate this for us and then undergo an in country review for local people in our company to review the content. That being said the meta descriptions, titles, code, everything gets translated to that language. I know there are issue for SEO for these purposes as we get much better rankings with http://www.datacard.com. The regional sites are newer so this could be part of it. We don't have an agency helping us with SEo and i get a lot of questions on what can be done internally for this for regional sites with our current structure. Any tips you have? It would be greatly appreciated! Laura

Ranking sites in vertical markets with 90% scraped content
Hi, Hoping to get advice about ranking sites (a vertical market search engine/portal like a car site for example) that gets its content from scraping car sites. For various reasons (mostly scale eg cant get car dealers to push their listings to us) content was scraped. The startup has received great press, TV interviews, incubator programs etc, and has also secured very significant investment. I feel if this site was launched pre-panda it would be ranking much better. We have invested significantly in our tech, our search tools and site innovation place us easily as market leader in this space. Anyone with experience in ranking sites with legitimate reasons for using scraped content?

Homepage not ranking in Google AU, but ranking in Google UK?
Hey everyone, My homepage has not been ranking for it's primary keyword in Google Australia for many months now. Yesterday when I was using a UK Proxy and searching via Google UK I found my homepage/primary keyword ranked on page 8 in the UK. Now in Australia my website ranks on page 6 but it's for other pages on my website (and it always changes from different page to page). Previously my page was popping up at the bottom of page 1 and page 2. I've been trying many things and waiting weeks to see if it had any impact for over 4 months but I'm pretty lost for ideas now. Especially after what I saw yesterday in Google UK. I'd be very grateful if someone has had the same experience of suggestions and what I should try doing. I did a small audit on my page and because the site is focused on one product and features the primary keyword I took steps to try and fix the issue. I did the following: I noticed the developer had added H1 tags to many places on the homepage so I removed them all to make sure I wasn't getting an over optimization penalty. Cleaned up some of my links because I was not sure if this was the issue (I've never had a warning within Google webmaster tools) Changed the title tags/h tags on secondary pages not to feature the primary keyword as much Made some pages 'noindex' to try and see if this would take away the emphases on the secondary pages Resubmitted by XML sitemaps to Google Just recently claimed a local listings place in Google (still need to verify) and fixed up citations of my address/phone numbers etc (However it's not a local business - sells Australia wide) Added some new backlinks from AU sites (only a handful though) The only other option I can think of is to replace the name of the product on secondary pages to a different appreciation to make sure that the keyword isn't featured there. Some other notes on the site: When site do a 'site:url' search my homepage comes up at the top The site sometimes ranked for a secondary keyword on the front page in specific locations in Australia (but goes to a localised City page). I've noindexed these as a test to see if something with localisation is messing it around. I do have links from AU but I do have links from .com and wherever else. Any tips, advice, would be fantastic. Thanks

Rank keeps decreasing - Is my site penalized
Hello, I have run into a bit of a predicament. All of my search terms keep dropping on a monthly basis, even though I am adding quality guest posts every month. Even if I get a handful of articles on semi-popular sites my ranking still drop. I am wondering, is my site penalized? My metrics also over exceed my rankings using both the Moz metrics and pagerank. I have a PR of 5 and domain rank of 50+ and I am still getting outranked on every term by people with lower metrics (PR 2 and DR of 30) In the past I have done mostly article syndication through sites like ezinearticles and isnare, but that was about 5 years ago. I have also done a couple of the "pay $50 for 100 directory submissions" once but that was also about 5 years ago. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Anyone have any advice? As you can probably tell I am getting really frustrated. P.S. - This is happening for all pages on my website, not just particular pages. Is is possible to get a site wide penalty, and if so, what can be done about it?
