How to change images of a page without loosing ranking?

Hi,
I have two reasons to change some images of a page on a wordpress site:
1.Google speed service advise me to optmize the images size to better spead load times.
2.I want to change images titles (to improve seo optimization for the page keyword), so i need to replace them, since im using wordpress.
Now the question is:
Can i just change the images without worring about any related seo issues? Or should i follow some best practice to change images in order to not affect the ranking of the page?

It's a personal choice but I don't see any harm in leaving it activated. I think there's more of a risk that tables will get corrupted if you are periodically deactivating and reactivating but that's just my opinion. If it's a concern, you would be better off posing your question to the plugin author.

Use the Enable Media Replace plugin by Måns Jonasson. It will swap out the old image for the new, update all your links, and you'll be good to go. No 404 errors.

what about image result in google?
If i change image, the old image will still appear in image google research and it will link to my page or does it will generate a 404 erorr when i try to click to the associated page (since now is not anymore in that page)?

I would have absolutely no concerns about losing rankings/traffic from making the changes you've mentioned.
Optimizing image files to improve page load and improving keyword targeting in title/alt text - you can't go wrong with that.

Is it better to have an hreflang go to the home page in a different language if there's no corresponding page
If I have some pages in English, but not in Spanish on my website: Should my hreflang go to the home page on the Spanish site? Or should I not have an "es-MX" hreflang for that page? Ideally I would have all the pages translated, but this has not all been done yet.

Mozers, I am of the believe and as a person who puts the utmost emphasis on the index page of any website I am trying to rank, especially with a new domain ... insuring content is relevant, structured, optimized and we have some link juice flowing in. I find once we get the index page ranked, Google's little bots then start to index and rank accordingly the rest of the website ... and we start producing results. We also develop websites (dare I say its where we expertise in) and unexpectantly the client has asked us to carry out SEO work additionally to their web development. Problem lies here, their index page, has absolutely no written content at all, just one large image with a logo (Fashion Website) ...Which I identify as a huge issue as per my explanation is paragraphs one or two. I am sure withe the many more qualified SEO experts and gurus within the SEOmoz community, you have also come across this issue So a few questions, if you don't mind adding advice. 1 - Am I putting too much emphasize on content within the index page, in terms of indexing and actually ranking ...yes I appreciate that terms within the website will be ranked against other pages other than the index page, but will it harm us for having no content at all within the index page 2 - If so, and yes is the answer to above, how do we handle it, we have spoke with the client and he is pretty adamant that he want the index page as is, he has been through out the whole website building process. As suggested, any advice would be really appreciated, its a difficult market to rank within a it is, and i can only see this index page making the task a lot more difficult Cheers John

How long should I wait before making changes to my new site in order to increase ranking?
I just create a site www.autoinsurancefremontca.com. It has been about a week since this site has been launched. The site currently resides at 12th position on google. With Semoz it has a Site Grade Of "A" . When should I start making changes to the site like adding a content as an example to increase my ranking. I am trying to get this site on the first page with google. Please help!!

Page Title
My website was hacked last November and then again last week. Prior to the hacking we were at number one in Google.co.uk for our main search term "nile cruises' for years. After last November's hacking we dropped to about position 4 and after last week we are at position 7. Ima rebuilding the lost data and I am having to create new Title and Description meta data for each of the indexed pages. I am taking the opportunity to try and ensure my titles and descriptions are good and the correct length, etc but wondered about the best title format. I set our home page title over the weekend as: Nile Cruise | Leading ABTA & ATOL Bonded UK Nile Cruise Specialist I was going to try and cover 3 keyphrases in the title like this: Nile Cruise | Nile Cruises | Nile Cruise Bargains But I thought that might look a bit spammy because the 3 phrases are very similar. Home Page
We are re-design our home page, one are of the current home page has a drop down window called "popular products" . We wrote short articles for our keywords and have them linked to product page. In the past, it has helped us rank. However, with new Google rules, our feeling is that such practice is no good. So, we lean towards to remove it.
