Opinions on leaving Non-SEO Pages without a H1
-
This one is pestering me and i am on the fence, so i thought i'd ask the trusty Moz community for their opinion.
I am running a technical / onsite audit for a client who has quite a pretty, creative and animated homepage with lots of overlaid imagery.
As its primarily imagery, including their glossy typography and clickable links, the page does not have a H1. Now i know this goes against best practice, however it's unlikely the page will ever be served as an SEO landing page (in current format), so what are people's thoughts on leaving as is without a H1, considering we are not going to try and ranking the landing page for any particular keywords.
Let us know your thoughts!
Thanks

Simple. If SEO tactics are a part of your scope of services contracted with the client, you need to implement the H1. If not, there's no reason to.

Hi Nick
Whilst there is best practice for the whole website and certain things do impact on rankings, in this case, you only need to worry about pages you want to rank for. The site is not going to be penalised just because a few pages miss off the H1 so just don't worry about it.
I hope that helps

Nick-
I have this same issue. For me though it is the homepage - is that a problem?
Can you post the page you are referring to? I would like to see what you are talking about with the typography etc.
Thanks!!

Hi Nick!
You've just said it. That page will not ever be subject for SEO rankings. So, as long as your client understands it and doesn´t blame you on that page not ranking, neither receiving organic traffic.. You are good to go.
Also, remember that having a page optimized correctly for user intent could bring better convertion rates. Just a friendly reminder.
Hope it helps.
Best luck.

What's better for SEO a page per review or a page with all reviews?
Was wondering what's better for SEO. We have a platform where consumers can read and write reviews. But the question is: is it better to give one page per company with all the reviews on it? Or should we have different pages for the specific company? Example: Itunes has a company page with all reviews on the page, but not the whole review. You have to click further to view the whole review (new page), at the moment this the current situation. What if we place the whole reviews on the company page, so you don't have specific pages for the reviews? Hopefully can someone help us out. Contact me if it's not clear or you want more extended information. Kind regards

Pages exclusion
Hi there! I don't want to "make relevan"t 3 of the pages my website has. Should I give them a title and a description even if I dont't want them to be shown in the SERPs? Is there any penalty from google if I don't do so? I guess no but just to confirm. Thanks!

Are blank Product Review pages bad for SEO?
Hi there, I'm running a new e-commerce site (BoatOutfitters.com) and have a question about our product review pages. On our current campaign, we have a lot of duplicate page content errors. When we export the data, it's almost all blank product review pages (since we are new, we don't have that many product reviews yet). Our product reviews aren't run through javascript, so we originally did not add them to a robots.txt file - however, I'm now wondering if it's worse to have all of these duplicate blank pages, or is it not affecting our SEO at all? Should we just wait until these products have reviews which will benefit our SEO and then they won't be considered "duplicate pages" - right? Sorry if this has been answered before - new here at SEO Moz and just looking for some help. Thanks!

Ranking for specific pages
HI, Lets say my website is abc.com and my targeted keyword is abc for index page. Internal pages, like abc.com/apple.htm, abc.com/banana.htm. The targeted keyword for apple.htm is fresh apples, buy apples, and for banana.htm, fresh banana, buy banana. How to define these keywords in the campaign. Please suggest. Thanks.

Page title
So if we have a main category page on our site (mines an ecommerce site), do we go for more than that main keyword phrase for that category of products, or is it better to just keep it by itself, and not utilize the 65-70 characters available?
