The best place to get started is the Beginner's Guide to SEO. Chapter 7 specifically deals with link building.

Get more content on the index page - lacking text.

Check on site optimization too.

Backlinks go to photography forums, post into and build links.

Make a slide show of your photos put on flickR and youtube and other video sites.

Link to your site on social bookmarking.

link to your site via local directories for your niche.
-
Ask models youve photoed for backlinks.
Also work out what keyword you need to target before you start building links, you site still needs alot of on page help.

Backlink Help - Contact Site Owners or 301 Redirect?
Hi, I am performing some backlink updates for a client and would like to know if I can speed the process up. Currently I am contact site owners and asking them to update the links that appear on their website of my clients. As this is tedious work, can I just setup 301 redirects for these products instead of contacting site owners and asking them to change the URL? Is there any benefit to having the proper URL on other websites? Thanks in advance!

Backlinking unclarities.
Hello, I'm trying to get external links from different websites. http://www.meubels.uwpagina.nl/ is one of them. Now what I am wondering is that 95% of the links on that page arent paid links. The paid links are in bold. To get a link for free on that website you need to place a link on your page to that page. This is not alloud by google, and if you do so you will get a penalty. How do all those websites manage to do it? They obviously know it is not alloud, but still they managed somehow to do this without getting penalized. Can someone clarify this for me? Backlink lag time or not indexed?
I've looked through a few questions relating to backlinks not showing up in Open Site Explorer and I've got the same problem. I want to understand whether my backlinks aren't showing in SEOmoz due to a lag time (some say 5 - 8weeks) or because google hasn't indexed them.
