Linking to a twitter account? Best to use the /#!/ or not? or no difference?
-
So if I am linking to someone's twitter account should I use the ajax code #! or not?
http://twitter.com**/#!/**thos003 vs http://twitter.com/thos003
Bonus Question:
I have also seen in the past that google splits a domain that has as a secure protocol.
https://twitter.com vs http://twitter.com
Does does that split link juice?
-
Hi Thomas,
Check out this article talking about how Google looks at Twitter's use of the hashbang.
I always link to the non-ajax version.

Good question, but unfortunately I don't know. I imagine it would lose a small fraction of the link juice similar to the way 301's do. On the other hand, I think results in twitter are probably based on internal twitter metrics (followers, followed) rather than page authority.
-
Apart from the easier to remember, the link used without the AJAX is being redirected to the AJAX url. So would it theoretically have less juice if it's hitting a redirect?
-
I wouldn't use the AJAX # part because its easier to remember/say and there is less chance that a non-human user (like googlebot) will screw it up.
Using SSL shouldn't split the link juice, because they both refer to the same subdomain, they just use different protocols to transfer the data. Similar to the way you can FTP to mydomain.com or pull it up in a browser using HTTP. They just define the way the URI is sent to the client, they don't represent different resources.

Twitter and SEO
Hey Moz folks, I would like your input on this matter: Twitter recently made a new agreement with Google regarding the SEO & their Tweets. At the moment I have 12 different websites across 12 different markets and I`d like to know how could I use Twitter for all markets, so I can get the most out of the new deal between Twitter and Google SEO wise. If I create 12 different accounts for all my 12 websites and create tweets for all of them, it would really be a very time consuming process, but on the other hand if I only use 1 account how can I target multiple websites ? Let me know what do you think. Thanks, Andrei

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

My Twitter Username was CHANGED by Twitter!
My twitter user name australia was changed by twitter to Australia1_ My original user name has been given to Toursim Australia. I never saw any correspondence about this from Twitter (I may have deleted it), nor from Tourism Australia. I have managed to send 2 related support requests to twitter; Once explaining I couldn't log in - and their reply was; "The email address you're writing from does not match the email on this account. For privacy reasons, we can't offer any more information about the email." Second time that my account was suspended - they replied; "If you're writing in about Australia1_ being suspended, this account is not currently suspended" I don't believe this can be a trademark issue because you cannot trademark a place name. I would love an explanation from twitter- Any tips?

Best Social Sharing Platform for B2b sites
Guess that title of the question says it all. What is the best social platform for dull b2b sites? The kind of content that you wouldn't want to share with your friends and family.... Not that type of content before anyone gets the wrong idea 🙂

Google+ and Google Search Plus Your World. Are the results served actually the best results?
I recently started a discussion on Google+ and thought I would get some feedback from the SEO community. https://plus.google.com/106060287111641282262/posts/Hpak5R6uY47 This article suggests that Google Search Plus Your World does not improve search quality for users. When a search is performed, I can imagine that results would be skewed to Google+ content and +1s from people in your circles. Doesn't this mean that if you only follow not-so-influential people who share and +1 not so quality stuff that your new "world" results are just going to be low quality? Doesn't this mean that SEO and traditional linking methods are dying? This would mean that the bigger chains will have more advantage just like what happened after Panda. How does the small business compete with this? Any insight would be of super appreciation.

Does the value of Twitter/FB shares change depending on the url used?
I have a really hard time wrapping my head around the use rel canonical. I just watched WBF and it brought up a question that I had. I had a situation where some of my pages could be accessed a couple of ways: www.mydomain/question1.php?id=24-keyword-rich-url, or www.mydomain/question1.php?id=24 I used rel canonical to tell the search engines that the keyword rich url was the one to index. Now, we all know that shares on Twitter, FB, etc. can add value to my site's SEO. So, if someone happens to be on the non-keyword-rich url and they click a button to share, do I still get the same seo benefit? Which brings me to a related question...if someone shares your content via a bitly or other shortened domain, is there any difference to the benefit you would get as compared to them sharing the full domain name?
