Include pagination in sitemap.xml?

Curious on peoples thoughts around this.
Since restructuring our site we have seen a massive uplift in pages indexed and organic traffic with our pagination.
But we haven't yet included a sitemap.xml. It's an ancient site that never had one.

Given that Google seems to be loving us right now, do we even need a sitemap.xml - aside from the analytical benefis in WM Tools?

Would you include pagination URL's (don't worry, we have no duplicate content) in the sitemap.xml?

OK thanks Alan. That's good advice. Our rel and next are working brilliantly. As you say we'll implement sitemap.xml with pagination to cover our bases.
Also, we'll be compartimentalising to measure index rates on various categories.

how's the site doing in Bing? Bing tends to not have such an easy time discovering pages, and I've often found a sitemap.xml file will help - and pagination pages would be included in that file. If you combine this with using the new rel=next / rel=prev markup Google has been asking for, you have all your big bases covered.

Getting rid of pagination - redirect all paginated pages or leave them to 404?
Hi all, We're currently in the process of updating our website and we've agreed that one of the things we want to do is get rid of all our pagination (currently used on the blog and product review areas) and instead implement load more on scroll. The question I have is... should we redirect all of the paginated pages and if so, where to? (My initial thoughts were either to the blog homepage or to the archive page) OR do we leave them to just 404? I want to load my ecommerce site xml via CDN
Hello Experts. My ecommerce site - abcd.com

My ecommrece site sitemap abcd.com/sitemap.xml
My subdomain - xyz.abcd.com ( this is blank page but status is 200 which runs from cdn) My ecommerce site sitemap abcd.com/sitemap.xml contains only 1 link of subdomain sitemap- xyz.abcd.com/sitemap.xml
And this sitemap- xyz.abcd.com/sitemap.xml contains all category and product links of abcd.com So my query is :- Above configuration is okay? In search console I will add new property - xyz.abcd.com. and add sitemap xyz.abcd.com/sitemap.xml So Google will able to give errors for my website abcd.com Purpose - I want to run my xml sitemap from cdn that's why i have created subdomain like xyz.abcd.com Hope you understood my query. Is it important to include image files in your sitemap?
I run an ecommerce business that has over 4000 product pages which, as you can imagine, branches off into thousands of image files. Is it necessary to include those in my sitemap for faster indexing? Thanks for you help! -Reed

XML Sitemap and unwanted URL parameters
We currently don't have an XML sitemap for our site. I generated one using Screaming Frog and it looks ok, but it also contains my tracking url parameters (ref=), which I don't want Google to use, as specified in GWT. Cleaning it will require time and effort which I currently don't have. I also think that having one could help us on Bing. So my question is: Is it better to submit a "so-so" sitemap than having none at all, or the risks are just too high? Could you explain what could go wrong? Thanks !

Best URL format for pagination
We're currently changing the URL format of our website search, we have been discussing a lot and cannot decide the past way to pass the pagination parameter for SEO. We narrowed down to the options. www.website.com/apples/p2 - www.website.com/apples?page=2 - www.website.com/apples/page/2 What would give us best ranking returns? What do you think?

Robots.txt Sitemap with Relative Path
Hi Everyone, In robots.txt, can the sitemap be indicated with a relative path? I'm trying to roll out a robots file to ~200 websites, and they all have the same relative path for a sitemap but each is hosted on its own domain. Basically I'm trying to avoid needing to create 200 different robots.txt files just to change the domain. If I do need to do that, though, is there an easier way than just trudging through it?

How to handle sitemap with pages using query strings?
Hi, I'm working to optimize a site that currently has about 5K pages listed in the sitemap. There are not in face this many pages. Part of the problem is that one of the pages is a tool where each sort and filter button produces a query string URL. It seems to me inefficient to have so many items listed that are all really the same page. Not to mention wanting to avoid any duplicate content or low quality issues. How have you found it best to handle this? Should I just noindex each of the links? Canonical links? Should I manually remove the pages from the sitemap? Should I continue as is? Thanks a ton for any input you have!
