Does anyone know of an excel template for creating keyword combinations?
-
I am looking for an Excel template with Macros that would allow me to drop a column of keywords next to a column of modifiers and it would build out thousands of keywords with a Macro. Can anyone drop their best SEO/SEM Excel template spreadsheet links in the comments?

does this help you? http://textmechanic.com/Permutation-Generator.html

Hmmm, that's a bit more complicated. I'm sure there's a Macro out there that can do it, but I don't know one off the top of my head.
I think this can be done without a Macro but it will take a little bit of manual work. Here's what I would do:
Place your two sets of keywords in Columns A and B. Select all of Column B and cut (ctrl+x) it. Then in Cell B1, right click, select Paste Special > Transpose. Then, move Column A down one so the list starts in Cell A2.
This will create a matrix with one set of keywords in Column A and the modifiers in Row 1.
Next, in Cell B2, enter this formula:
=$A2&" "&B$1
Copy this across all cells in the matrix and you'll have 10,000 unique keywords. You will then have to remove the formulas by copying the entire sheet, right clicking in Cell A1 and selecting Past Special > Values.
Finally, you'll have to do some manual work of cutting and pasting all the separate columns into one long column of 10k keywords.
I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it's the best I can think of for know. I've updated that spreadsheet example to give you a better idea of what I mean - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsNfzI57aVSXdGFKME1pamRnZkJNandZWVpoVkFXZkE
Or, if you want to send your initial set of keywords to me, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot myself. Feel free to send it to tim@prontomarketing.com.
Best,
Tim

Hi Tim,
Thanks so much for your response. To be more clear, I would have a row of 100 keywords in column A, and 100 keywords in column B. I would like each of the 100 keywords in column A to be combined with each of the keywords in column B giving me 10,000 keywords.

If I'm correctly understanding your goal here, I think this can be accomplished by just using an Excel formula. You shouldn't need a Macro to combine two columns.
Place your keywords in Column A and the modifiers in Column B. Then, in Column C, enter the following formula:
=A1&" "&B1
Copy this formula down the list and it will combine the contents of the two cells separated by a space. Here's an example I put together in Google Docs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsNfzI57aVSXdGFKME1pamRnZkJNandZWVpoVkFXZkE
Hope this helps!
Tim

Keyword & negative keyword overlap
So I just read your blog on quality score and after reading the negative keyword section I'm a little confused and I need clarification. In that paragraph you mentioned about not overlapping your negative keywords with your active keywords and you used an example of dog food and dog bed. So my question is, if you put the word dog bed into the negative keyword list isn't the word dog the over lap word? Would you ad not show because the word dog is in the active keyword list?

How to know competitors keywords for adwords
I want to run google campaign for adwords and I want to target keywords that my competitor is ranking for. How can I know what are the keywords that are helping my competitors the most. Is there some way so that I can know what my competitor is bidding for those keywords. I heard it also depends on the landing page quality. Please suggest the best strategy to run adwords at lower cost and yet perform well. I am willing to run campaign for this website . It is basically meant to connect manufacturers representatives and independent sales reps to businesses. Any suggestions are welcome.

PPC: how to get rid of an ad appearing on a keyword we don't want?
Hi, Our ad on Google Ads is appearing for a search we don't want. it isn't in our search keywords and when i try and ad it to our negative ones, we get the error " You cannot exclude keywords that are targeted " which i assume means that google thinks we are bidding on it? We have a selection of broad phrase matches so i can only think that this is where it's coming from? Do you have any tips on tracking down which keyword is generating this ad and how we can turn it off? (we don't want to pay for clicks on this search if possible!) Btw - i have turned off each keyword in turn to test it = nothing. have then paused the whole campaign = gets rid of the ad (but this is our most successful campaign so i can't just turn it off). Any advice super super welcome. thank you!

Adwords Duplicate Keywords with Different Match Types - Good or Bad?
If you have the following keywords in an Ad Group advertising for a product, let's for example call it "target" product [target product] "target product" +target +product I've found that the exact match keyword has the highest conversion rate in almost all circumstances. So it would make sense to have a higher max bid on the exact match then phrase or broad batch. Even with lots of negative search terms to maximize conversion on the broader matches, if the bid is the same as exact match, the cost per conversion will be much higher (too high.) However in chatting with an Adwords Support Rep (on a different matter) they stated after looking through my account at the end of the chat: " duplicate keywords will impact on quality score. your all keywords will compete with each other" However many of the ad groups in question these duplicate keywords have quality score of 9 and 10. So obviously if there is an effect it seems it may be minimal. I thought it was pretty common for people to bid higher on more exact match and lower on more broad match. What's the real story here? Was this support rep not seeing the big picture?

Adwords negative keywords / keyword lists conflicting?
Does any of you had any experience on large 5k+ shared negative keyword lists impacting normal campaign negative keywords in Adwords even if they are not selected on these campaigns? And a second question; does anyone know how selected negative keyword lists can be removed from a campaign? I seem to be able to add them but not to remove them... Cheers!

Is there any reason to add the word "buy" to our Adwords keywords?
Was having a discussion with someone so I am going to write this up as neutral as possible and let you guys decide. We have a large keyword list and they are all setup as phrase. Should we go back and add the word buy in front of all those keywords? Even though they are setup as phrase already. Example: "Widget" (as a phrase) Should we go back and add "Buy Widget" as a keyword?

How accurate is the Google´s keyword tool regarding monthly searches?
How correct is Google´s keyword tool regarding the estimated number of Global Monthly Searches? Judging from my adwords campaigns the real number of impressions is 1/3 compared to the estimated number for an exact match. What is your experience?

Does anybody know of a good bulk import http response checker? The one I was using has disappeared and I can only find checkers that only take one URL at a time.
An example of something I'm looking for but I want to check multiple checkers: http://web-sniffer.net/
