Should I ping Each New Article And How Will It Help Me
-
Hi I am looking for advice to get my new articles out there and my news stories. I would like to know if i should ping my articles and news stories each time i write a new one and if so which ping services do you recommend and what do they really do.
Can anyone recommend any other services that i could use to promote my new articles and news stories to gain more traffic.
Many thanks

is there a tool that will allow you to enter all the ping sites that are availabe and then enter the details like pingomatic and enter the url that you want to ping which will then ping all the ping site that you want.
-
thanks andrew, i use these at the moment, just wondering if there is one where it will ping all the sites at once.
have tried buying a k2 ping tool for my joomla 1.5 site but it does not work with the 1.5 site which is a sahme as it would make it a lot easier if it was done automatically like word press.

You could try these pinging services below as I used these quiet a lot to ping our blog and news stories.
-
thanks for this, i will start using google plus.
-
If you use Joomla you can install a component in order to use ping services like in Wordpress.
Just do a search in Google like this one
-
If you mean to use ping services in order to have your new article indexed, than the fastest and surest ping is system is Google+ itself (as once was Twitter).
Just few minutes after shared a link on G+, it's visited by Googlebot and indexed.

hi, how can i add these ping services to one service. I use joomla so i do not think they have an automatic ping service. What will it actuall do for my site and for attracting visitors to my site.

Diane
I ping numerous services at all once automatically, simply add this list to your Ping Services in your WordPress installation:
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://ping.weblogalot.com/rpc.php
http://ping.syndic8.com/xmlrpc.php
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
-
Yes, ping every article you post.
Depending on your platform will dictate what you can do. If you're on wordpress, they have a built in system that automatically does that for you.
I'm sure other systems have them in place as well, but I am not familiar with them.
If you need to manually do it, here are a few sites I am aware of:
Good luck!

After you remove a 301 redirect that Google has processed, will the new URL retain any of the link equity from the old URL?
Lets say you 301 redirect URL A to URL B, and URL A has some backlinks from other sites. Say you left the 301 redirect in place for a year, and Google had already replaced the old URL with the new URL in the SERPs, would the new URL (B) retain some of the link equity from URL A after the 301 redirect was removed, or does the redirect have to remain in place forever?

URL spacing help
Hi all, easy question: I have a client URL...example.com/giftbags that has been indexed for a while. Should I change the URL to example.com/gift-bags to separate these words for better KW ranking, or would the change be useless at this point? Thanks, -Reed

No google traffic for this site? Help?
Hi We have not done this web site http://climateacs.co.uk but have now picked it up and its getting no traffic what so ever from google do you think its been blacklisted? I have added it to my webmaster tools and there are no manual actions on it and most of the backlinks on google webmaster tools are from yell.com. However when I run it on opensiteexplorer I am seeing some chinese type links?? It is not really showing many search queries at all when you view them in webmaster tools under United Kingdom. I was going to start citation building for the address to help support the google places entry but just wanted to see what other peoples opinion was really on this site? Thanks Tracy

Old domain vs. New keyword domain - Thoughts?
Okay. I'd like to get opinions as to what everyone thinks about domains lately. Here is any example: The current domain is general in nature, in fact, it's a persons name because they are a real estate agent. So the domain is something like JohnDoe.com. Current stats: Has approx. 130 linking domains pointing to it. Has over 300 incoming links from these linking domains. The link profile is clean and not spammy (not to say there are not a few that might be here and there) Was bough in 1994 The new domain would have very little value except it would be keyword rich such as PortlandHomesForSale.com (just an example). What are your thoughts. Thank you.

Should we introduce subfolders into the URLs on a new site?
A site we are working on currently gives no indication of the subfolders in the URL. Eg. the site uses: www.examplesite.com/brand-name Rather than: www.examplesite.com/popular-products/brand-name There are breadcrumbs on site to show the user what part of the site they are in and how they navigated there. We are building a new site and have to decide what route to take: Since the site is already performing relatively well in the SERPs and the URLs are nice and short this way, is it a good idea to keep them like this or is it better for usability to include the subfolders? This post suggests that we would be best off to keep the URLs as they are - particularly since less would be changed http://www.seomoz.org/blog/should-i-change-my-urls-for-seo Thanks in advance for your opinions! How will a domain change affect my rankings?
My company will undergo a domain change in the next few months. Other than implementing 301 redirects, what else can I do to help the search engines realize the site has moved? What kind of impact on rankings can I expect to see? Thanks in advance!

Best practices for temporary articles
Hello, I would like to have expert inputs about the best way to manage temporary content? In my case, I've a page (ex : mydomain.com/agenda) where I have listing of temporary article, with a lifetime of 1 month to 6 months for some of them. My articles also have a specific url like for ex : mydomain.com/agenda/12-02-2011/thenameofmyarticle/ As you can guess, I got hundreds of 404 😞 I'm already using canonical tag, should I use a in the listing page? I'm a bit lost here..
