Is the SORBS-SPAM list a big deal?
-
Someone here pointed out that my server ip is on the SORBS-SPAM list and I was wondering if this was a big deal, and how it might have got there, and I would go about getting it off the list?
-
First, a disclaimer. I'm not an expert on SORBS-SPAM, so take my advice with a grain of salt. That said, with millions and millions of IPs on the list, including IPs that host big and powerful sites, it's doubtful that being on the blacklist alone will hurt your SEO much.
The bigger problem is any email you send may get blocked. Regardless, it's a good idea to try to get yourself de-indexed. Apparently, this is a fairly common procedure and you can find information on that here http://www.sorbs.net/faq/retest.shtml
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

Hi Ayetti, Fisrtly Spamfighting is very important for reducing the amount of spam we'll all receive in the future but it doesn't do much to affect your spam intake for today. This section looks at some popular methods that are used to reduce the amount of spam currently ending up in mailboxes.
The SORBS considered to be the harmful. For more detail please refer to this link http://blog.wordtothewise.com/2010/12/gfi-sorbs-considered-harmful/

Dealing with Dodgy Looking Traffic
Hi there I am really hoping someone can help. The site I run has started receiving traffic from the US (we are a UK run firm who don't ship overseas). Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a massive problem but the traffic is coming directly to lots of pages and instantly bouncing. I am worried this is going to negatively impact my rankings as drop off rate and conversions are getting hammered by this 'fake traffic'. The attached image shows the traffic for the homepage but its happening on every page with hundreds of hits bouncing and hurting my stats. Is there any way of dealing with this or reporting it to an authority or even Google itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. George 7vprsJo

Massive Spam attack against my domain - automate disvow of tld?
We've been getting hundreds of new links from unique domains every day - all the domains follow a pattern like this: www.someword-1f4163e1.space/wiki/Someterm Hundreds... every day. What techniques exist to deal with a prolonged negative seo attack of this type. By the time we can detect and disvow, the damage is done.

Google Finance Filled with Spam
Not sure if anyone else does anything with Google Finance. In the last few months, I have been noticing a lot of spam sites filling the search results in Google "ticker pages". In this example you can see 4 or the 5 top results are from the same blog network with spun low quality content.

Advice needed! How to clear a website of a Wordpress Spam Link Injection Google penalty?
Hi Guys, I am currently working on website that has been penalised by Google for a spam link injection. The website was hacked and 17,000 hidden links were injected. All the links have been removed and the site has subsequently been redesigned and re-built. That was the easy part 🙂 The problems comes when I look on Webmaster. Google is showing 1000's of internal spam links to the homepage and other pages within the site. These pages do not actually exist as they were cleared along with all the other spam links. I do believe though this is causing problems with the websites rankings. Certain pages are not ranking on Google and the homepage keyword rankings are fluctuating massively. I have reviewed the website's external links and these are all fine. Does anyone have any experience of this and can provide any recommendations / advice for clearing the site from Google penalty? Thanks, Duncan

Local Listing Question
We have a client that has signed on with a national business network for contractors. This was done without our consent, so I wanted to get everyone's feel on whether or not we should talk them out of continuing this partnership. The example I am showing is not our client, but they are part of this network and have the exact type of setup. Regular website: http://www.palmerheatingandcooling.com

I have attached a screenshot of the results. Is this type of partnership ok in Google's eyes? Is this network listing going to hurt their regular listing in the future? ZGPJfvi0 -
Article Submission, is it Spam?
When looking at my competitors in Open Site Explorer, I see that most of them have hundreds of links from articles that are meaningless to a human with one or two links to their site using keywords in the last paragraph. My guess is that these companies used an article creation/submission service since the article isn't 100% related to the link, but it is close. Should I do this as well? Is it spam? All of these sites rank higher than me for all terms and have higher scores in the competitive analysis.
