I would like to block the spider indexing a block of text inside a page , however I do not want to block the whole page with, for example , a noindex tag.

I have tried already with a tag like this :

      chocolate pudding

      chocolate pudding

However this is not working for my case, a travel related website.

thanks in advance for your support.

      Best regards

      Gianluca

        Gianluca,
Rand's whiteboard Friday a couple of weeks ago may help you: http://moz.com/blog/handling-duplicate-content-across-large-numbers-of-urls

Though the Whiteboard Friday is about duplicate content issues, 1 piece you can probably us from it is this: embed an iframe on page of the content to leave the content out of the index and the content will not be perceived to be part of the URL when using iframe. Add “noindex” in the HTML doc in the iframe to be 100% sure that search engines do not index it.

There aren't too many ways to achieve this without it looking a little odd to Google. The use of Images is probably the only real world way, but do remember that Google can view images well, and I have always advised anyone wanting to do this, to avoid it.

I haven't tried this myself, but can see it working by using iframes and then Disallowing them in Robots.txt

@chris - thanks for your reply. yes I realised only after I used it that this solution won't apply to web search.  it is a possibility to put the text in an immage, however, since it will be a lot of text in many different product pages, I was looking for something easier to automate. any other possibilities through tags?

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity. I'd love to get my hands on one though--it'd be like holding a baby google in your arms

                  Chris,

Do you work with the Search Appliance? Would love to speak with you about it if so.

                  Thanks, great answer.

                    Gianluca,

The Googleoff: snippet is not used for web-search, it's only used with the Google Search Appliance.  Could you can put the text you want to keep out of the snippet into an image?

How to index e-commerce marketplace product pages

technical seo ecommerce indexation crawl product page

Hello! We are an online marketplace that submitted our sitemap through Google Search Console 2 weeks ago. Although the sitemap has been submitted successfully, out of ~10000 links (we have ~10000 product pages), we only have 25 that have been indexed. I've attached images of the reasons given for not indexing the platform. gsc-dashboard-1 gsc-dashboard-2 How would we go about fixing this?

Is there a way to get a list of all pages of your website that are indexed in Google?

I am trying to put together a comprehensive list of all pages that are indexed in Google and have differing opinions on how to do this.

How to check if an individual page is indexed by Google?

So my understanding is that you can use site: [page url without http] to check if a page is indexed by Google, is this 100% reliable though? Just recently Ive worked on a few pages that have not shown up when Ive checked them using site: but they do show up when using info: and also show their cached versions, also the rest of the site and pages above it (the url I was checking was quite deep) are indexed just fine. What does this mean? thank you p.s I do not have WMT or GA access for these sites

Blocked URL parameters can still be crawled and indexed by google?

Hy guys, I have two questions and one might be a dumb question but there it goes. I just want to be sure that I understand: IF I tell webmaster tools to ignore an URL Parameter, will google still index and rank my url? IS it ok if I don't append in the url structure the brand filter?, will I still rank for that brand? Thanks, PS: ok 3 questions :)...

Can you 301 redirect a page to an already existing/old page ?

If you delete a page (say a sub department/category page on an ecommerce store) should you 301 redirect its url to the nearest equivalent page still on the site or just delete and forget about it ? Generally should you try and 301 redirect any old pages your deleting if you can find suitable page with similar content to redirect to. Wont G consider it weird if you say a page has moved permenantly to such and such an address if that page/address existed before ? I presume its fine since say in the scenario of consolidating departments on your store you want to redirect the department page your going to delete to the existing pages/department you are consolidating old departments products into ?

Home Page .index.htm and .com Duplicate Page Content/Title

I have been whittling away at the duplicate content on my clients' sites, thanks to SEOmoz's pro report, and have been getting push back from the account manager at register.com (the site was built here and the owner doesn't want to move it).  He says these are the exact same page and he can't access one to redirect to the other.  Any suggestions? The SEOmoz report says there is duplicate content on both these urls: Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/index.htm Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/ Your help is greatly appreciated! It seems that .html pages do better for the long tail...
