Does anyone knows some info about  "teracent-feed-processing" user agent?

      IP's from which user agent reside:  74.125.113.145, 74.125.113.148, 74.125.187.84 ....

In our logs, 2 out of 3 requests are made by it,   causing server crash.

It seems that the Sudden drop in indexed pages reported in  WMT might relate  to some reporting issues from Google - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/qkvudy6VqnM;context-place=topicsearchin/webmasters/sitemap|sort:date

Since "teracent-feed-processing" didn't followed the rules in robots.txt,  we had to hard-block it. If server detects the user agent beeing "teracent-feed-processing" it  will drop the connection: _ (104) Connection reset by peer_

Well it isn't Googlebot and it isn't one I have come across before. Don't forget that any user agent can be spoofed very easily so I wouldn't worry about blocking it.

**Should I  assume that the drop in reported indexed pages is a result of blocking the teracent-feed-processing user agent? **

I really don't think that this is Google. The only one they have is Googlebot, and tell you this is the one to add if you wish to block them.

Just a thought, can you share your robots.txt file just to make sure pages aren't being unintentionally blocked?

It seems that "teracent-feed-processing" user agent is somehow linked to Google. If you analyse the Ip's , you'll noticed that are Google owned. Teracent company has been bought by Google in 2009.

btw - we've already blocked it,  but I'm trying to figure it out what's the key role played by this user agent. We've also noticed a drastic decline in number of pages being reported in Google Webmaster Tools (half of what we used to have).  Should I  assume that the drop in reported indexed pages is a result of blocking the teracent-feed-processing user agent?

It sounds like your typical spammy site so I would suggest just blocking them. Add the following to the top of your robots.txt file:

                **User-agent: teracent-feed-processing**
                **Disallow: /**

However, before you go live with this, use the webmaster tools Robots.txt tester to make sure everything else still gets crawled.

Does user engagement or content of pages requiring login help SEO?

Hi! Our company is trying to come up  with a few pages with some manuals to teach our users how to use our products. However, these pages require username and password. My understanding is that user engagement will help a website's keyword rankings and Google will not be able to crawl or have access to pages requiring login as it doesn't have username and password. Based on that idea, does that mean all the content and user engagement on those pages requiring login won't help our overall SEO? Thanks in advance!

What's the best way for users to upload their images to my wordpress site to promote UGC

I have looked at lots of different plugins and wanted a recommendation for an easy way for patients of ours to upload pictures of them out partying and having fun and looking beautiful so future users can see the final results instead of sometimes gory or difficult to understand before and after images. I'd like to give them the opportunity to write captions (like facebook or insta posts and would offer them incentives to do so. I don't want it to be too complicated for them or have too many steps or barriers but I do want it to look nice and slick and modern. Also do you think this would have a positive impact on SEO? I was also thinking of a Q&A app where dentists could get Q&A emails and respond - i've been doing AMA sessions and they've been really successful and I would like to bring it into out site and make it native. Thanks in advance 🙂

CSS user select and any potential affect on SEO

Hi everyone and thank you in advance for your helpful comments. We have a client who is concerned about copying of content from their site because it has happened a few times in the last few years. We have explained that the content is essentially publicly available and that using the CSS selector user-select to prevent selection of text will really only prevent the technically limited users from working out how to get the text. He is happy that it will at least stop some people. So the question is would there be any way that this would have an affect on SEO? We would make an assumption that it doesnt but putting it out there for some feedback. Cheers Eddie

Schema Markup for property listings (estate agent)

Hello, I've been looking online for some help with this. An estate agent has a page of properties for sale. Is it possible to mark these individual properties up and if so would they appear as rich snippets in the SERPS - never seen anything like this for properties for sale so just wondered,

How do you delete an admin user in wordpress that wont delete

I hired an indian company to do some work on three sites that I own. I used a freelancing platform and they have been banned and now when i check in my wordpress sites, the admin user will not delete. Everytime i try and delete them it comes back. I change the password and the email address, but when i check a couple of hours later it comes back again, giving them full control over my sites which they are playing around with. any help would be great. I have tried going into the cpanel but it still will not delete. my hosting company has tried to delete them but it is not working

Log in, sign up, user registration and robots

Hi all, We have an accommodation site that asks users only to register when they want to book a room, in the last step. Though this is the ideal situation when you have tons of users, nowadays we are having around 1500 - 2000 per day and making tests we found out that if we ask for a registration (simple, 1 click FB) we mail them all and through a good customer service we are increasing our sales. That is why, we would like to ask users to register right after the home page ie Home/accommodation or and all the rest. I am not sure how can I make to make that content still visible to robots.
Will the authentication process block google crawling it? Maybe something we can do? We are  not completely sure how to proceed so any tip would be appreciated. Thank you all for answering.

                  Noindex user profile

I have a social networking site with user- and company profiles. Some profiles have little to no content. One of the users here at moz suggested noindex-ing these profiles. I am still investigating this issue and have some follow up questions: What is the possible gain of no-indexing uninteresting profiles? Especially interested in this since these profiles do bring in long-tail traffic atm. How "irreversable" is introducing a noindex directive? Would everything "return to normal" if I remove te noindex directive? When determining the treshold for having profiles indexed, how should the following items be weighed Sum of number of words on the page (comprised of one or more of the following: full name, city, 0 to N company names, bio, activity) (unique) Profile picture (Nofollowed) Links to user's profiles on social networks  or user's own site. Embedded Google Map Thanks!

                  SEO for User Authenticated Content

Hi Everyone - I have a potential client who is seeking SEO for a site that contains about 95% of content only accessible through user authentication . Does anyone have tips for getting this indexed without having to open it up to the public? I was considering adding "snippets" into the robots.txt or creating an additional page with snippets linking to the login page. I'd appreciate any thoughts! Thanks!
