XML sitemap generator only crawling 20% of my site

Hi guys,
I am trying to submit the most recent XML sitemap but the sitemap generator tools are only crawling about 20% of my site. The site carries around 150 pages and only 37 show up on tools like xml-sitemaps.com. My goal is to get all the important URLs we care about into the XML sitemap.
How should I go about this?

I believe it's not a significant issue if the sitemap encompasses the core framework of your website. As long as the sitemap is well-organized, omitting a few internal pages is acceptable since Googlebot will crawl all pages based on the sitemap. Take a look at the <a href="https://convowear.in">example page</a> that also excludes some pages, yet it doesn't impact the site crawler's functionality.

Yes Yoast on WordPress works fine for sitemap generation. I would also recommend that. Using on all of my blog sites.

If you are using WordPress then I would recommend to use Yoast plugin. It generates sitemap automatically regularly. I am also using it on my blog.

This doesn't really answer my question of why I am not able to get all links into the XML sitemap when using xml sitemap generators.

I think it's not a big deal if the sitemap covers the main structure of your site. If your sitemap is constructed in a really decent structure, then missing some internal pages are acceptable because Googlebot will crawl all of your pages based on your site map. You can see the following page which also doesn't cover all of its pages, but there's no influence in terms of site crawler.

Thanks Boyd but unfortunately I am still missing a good chunk of URLs here and I am wondering why? Do those check on internal links in order to find these pages?

Use Screaming Frog to crawl your site. It is free to download the software and you can use the free version to crawl up to 500 URLs.
After it crawls your site you can click on the Sitemaps tab and generate an XML sitemap file to use.

Editing A Sitemap
Would there be any positive effect from editing a site map down to a more curated list of pages that perform, or that we hope they begin to perform, in organic search? A site I work with has a sitemap with about 20,000 pages that is automatically created out of a Drupal plugin. Of those pages, only about 10% really produce out of search. There are old sections of the site that are thin, obsolete, discontinued and/or noindexed that are still on the sitemap. For instance, would it focus Google's crawl budget more efficiently or have some other effect? Your thoughts? Thanks! Best... Darcy

XML and Disallow
I was just curious about any potential side effects of a client Basically utilizing a catch-all solution through the use of a spider for generating their XML Sitemap and then disallowing some of the directories in the XML sitemap in the robots.txt. i.e.

XML contains 500 URLs
50 URLs contain /dirw/
I don't want anything with /dirw/ indexed just because they are fairly useless. No content, one image. They utilize the robots.txt file to " disallow: /dirw/ " Lets say they do this for maybe 3 separate directories making up roughly 30% of the URL's in the XML sitemap. I am just advising they re-do the sitemaps because that shouldn't be too dificult but I am curious about the actual ramifications of this other than "it isn't a clear and concise indication to the SE and therefore should be made such" if there are any. Change in sitemap from XML to PHP caused to lose all organic rankings
Hi MOZers, I need some advice for my website: http://www.scorepromotions.ca/ I recently changed the sitemap submitted to GWT from http://www.scorepromotions.ca/sitemap.xml to http://www.scorepromotions.ca/google-sitemap.php I deleted the previously submitted XML sitemap from GWT on Friday & submitted the PHP sitemap on the advice of our developer. On Saturday, I noticed that all our organic rankings disappeared. So, I changed the PHP sitemap back to XML sitemap on Sunday. I am hoping to see my organic rankings recover to previous levels. Does anyone have any advice or experience to share about this issue ? Ankush

Site Not Ranking- No Reason Why
I have a client with a HUGE website who should be ranking for it's competitive keywords. No penalties, or bad links. Old domain. Not ranking for anything. Client has a huge AdWords spend and my theory is that it's not ranking organically because of the AdWords spend. I can't think of anything other reason. Anyone? Thanks. The keywords I'm trying to rank this client for aren't even competitive.

Site rankings down
Our site is over 10 years old and has consistently ranked highly in google.co.uk for over 100 key phrases. Until the middle of April, we were 7th for 'nuts and bolts' and 5th for 'bolts and nuts' - we have been around these positions for 5-6 years easily now. Our rankings dropped mid-April, but now (presumably as a result of Penguin 2.0), we've seen larger decreases across the board. We are now 5th page on 'nuts and bolts', and second page on 'bolts and nuts'. Can anyone please shed any light on this? Although we'd fallen some before Penguin 2.0, we've fallen quite a bit further since. So I'm wondering if it's that. We do still rank well on our more specialised terms though - 'imperial bolts', 'bsw bolts', 'bsf bolts', we're still top 5. We've lost out with the more generic terms. In the past we did a bit of (relevant) blog commenting and obtained some business directory links, before realising the gain was tiny if at all. Are those likely to be the issue? I'm guessing so. It's hard to know which to get rid of though! Now, I use social media sparingly, just Facebook, Twitter and G+. The only linkbuilding I do now is by sending polite emails to people who run classic car clubs that would use our bolts, stuff like that. I've had a decent response from that, and a few have become customers directly. XML Sitemap for classifieds
I have seeon some trends for sites which do not even use XML sitemp and robots e.g. see this site. How do you see if sitemap is not used. Also for classified websites, should ad pages be included in sitemap because after certain duration those ads will be deleted and google might not be able to crawl. What do you suggest about XML sitemap for classified website.

I am SEO amameur and have bee adding links slowly to site. I cannot seem to increase my domain authority from 20 however, Anyone any advice please????
I updated meta tags on website 2/3 months ago and saw a significant improvements in rankings for keyowrds, however since then I have been dropping back down. I am wondering if this is because of low domain authoriyty. it is currentyly 20. www.babskibay.com
