How accurate is the Google´s keyword tool regarding monthly searches?
-
How correct is Google´s keyword tool regarding the estimated number of Global Monthly Searches? Judging from my adwords campaigns the real number of impressions is 1/3 compared to the estimated number for an exact match. What is your experience?

Christopher,
I'll add to Pashmina's answer in saying that just like any other data point, I've personally always used data from the Google keyword tool and any other similar "solution" for trending insights only, not for real analysis. Another possibility is in how you use the resource.

Horribly inaccurate! Google hasn't provided much in the way of explanation. It use to be worse because the numbers were based on the combined volume of both the search and all their networks. They changed this some time in 2010. Here are some other considerations that affect your impressions volume:
- Is your bid and quality score so high that your ad is literally running at #1 ALL the time?
- Are your campaigns capped or cut off by budget or scheduled time to show?
- Do you have any negative keywords applied to the campaign?
- Are using exact, phrase or broad match? Google supposedly bases the volume on exact.
It is not wise to completely rely on the Keyword tool local search volume. The other metrics like total search results, and competition help craft a better keyword list for your campaigns. I also like to export the entire data set, and look to see how the local volume is changing over time. Is it trending up or down? Is it a consistent average?

Approximate costs of keywords in Google AdWords
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions about how to go about getting some approximate costs for keywords through Google Adwords to assist my SEO efforts. I don't want to open an AdWords account, just looking for costs. If the pricing is too high then the opened account was a waste of time. So if anyone has any resources to find out this information, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

No paid results for specific search term?
Just doing some research for a potential PPC campaign. For the search terms I'm looking to target, no paid results appear wither above or to the right of the organic SERPs. Does anyone know the reason for this? Search term "Cigar Merchants" Is this because the search term is smoking related? Thanks!

Can I pass keyword match type through the Adwords dest URL?
Hi guys, I'm currently using duplicates of the same keyword with different match types, and I'd like to pass the keyword match type through the query, the same way I can pass the keyword and creative. ie. http://my.site.com/?kw={keyword}&kwmt={matchtype}&aid={creative} As far as I can tell, Google allows you to pass the keyword, creative (ad id), network and a mobile flag. Microsoft allows you to pass the match type and and ad id, and I want to be able to do the same in my Adwords. Is this is possible, or is the only way to create different ad groups for each match type and pass a custom query? Cheers, Jez

Multiple keyword match types - same ad group, or separate ad groups?
Hi guys, Looking at an account that has historically used broad matching, and i'd now like to take some of the better performing keywords and duplicate as phrase and/or exact match to increase the quality of traffic to the landing pages. I know I can add red shoes, "red shoes" and [red shoes] to the same ad group, however I've also read that people are creating separate groups for each match type. Other than easy of management (same group), or more granular targeting of ads (separate groups), should I go with either approach, or a blend of the two? My key objective in this restructure is to drop the currently high bounce rate on the landing pages by improving the relevance of the incoming traffic. Cheers, Jez

I need someone who would have the same regard for SEOmoz and a healthy respect for safe SEO principles to help me with my monthly clients. Is this the place to post about my need or should I take it to the jobs area? Thanks in advance for your guidance.
