Searching for a keyword on html source code of a website via Google
-
Is such a thing possible? Can we google for a specific keyword that can be found on the source code of a website? Is there any search operator for this? Thanks in advance!
-
Why do you want keyword from a HTML source?, instead of that why can't you do a keyword analysis online , with can help you in understanding your competitor profile online. I can help you with Keyword research. Please reply me back in case if you are looking for any assistance.
I also recommend SEOMoz tool for competitor analysis. Great tool for learning and understanding the SEO results.

Hi,
Eventually the answer to your question is No. Google doesn't have an operator to search within the source of a document/ Web site. As far as I know, those and a couple of others are the only ones available within Google. I also checked Bing and Blekko. But they both also seem not to provide an operator like you would like to have.
Hope this helps!

Using Google Reviews for non local business
Hi All, We are deciding on what site is best to capture reviews from customers and I'm just not sure what is the ideal option. We are a SaaS business with multiple offices in different locations but the specific geographies are not really relevant to our customers. Is it worth focusing on google reviews so that when our brand is searched there are plenty of nice shiny stars (plus maybe they can be added into adwords adverts as well...). Search volume for the keywords we don't yet rank for are not massive although still important. Alternatively should we be thinking about something like G2Crowd. None of our competitors are doing anything so there's no real need to our muscle them on a review website and I don't think our end user will visit these sites before buying but we would point to them and say 'hey, look at all these great reviews'. Finally I searched my old company recently who and just under news results were facebook reviews. Maybe that's another option. All advice welcome. All advice appreciated.

Very odd behavior. Google is changing “%20” to “+” in my URLS
I just realized many of the links on my site are BROKEN when entered from a Google SERP. This didn’t used to be this way. I have no idea what’s going but I’m worried. It involves a folder of our site that has a space in it. Google is even displaying the proper “%20” in the SERP but when I click the link it replaces that “%20” with a + which breaks the link!! You can see this in action by typing in “brown jordan sheffield furniture” without quotes into Google. You’ll see our site come up first and displaying this link sheffieldfurniture.com/Other%20Furniture/BrownJordan.html but when you click it the link is broken! This is happening on many of our pages! Anyone know what in the world is going on?

How Google could quickly fix the whole Links problem...
A Thursday morning brainstorm that hopefully an important Google manager will see... Google could quickly end all the problems of link buying, spammy links, and negative SEO with one easy step: Only count the 100 best follow links to any domain. Ignore all the nofollows and everything beyond the 100 best. They can choose what "best" means. Suddenly links would be all about quality. Quantity would not matter. Fiverr links, comment links, and all the other mass-produced spam links would literally be ignored. Unless that's all a domain had, and then they would surely be stomped by any domain with 100 decent natural links. Would it be an improvement over today's situation?

Penguin 2.0 Update - Just Hit - Google Messes up again, can anyone on SEOMOZ please tell me why or how some of these websites are ranking?
I am getting a bit tired now writing all of this so please excuse grammar and spelling mistakes, I wanted to post this up quickly tonight so I could possibly get some feedback by morning. So I feel I figured out some of the new update that just hit and I am sure the update will continue to keep coming and rankings will most likely change for a while, but I do have a few questions in the mean time if they stay. Please look below, why would some of those sites be ranking? Some sites utilize no onpage SEO, some no backlinks, one of the sites is a single page site and every page is a broken link even the contact us page and it's rank 1..... I am not 100% sure that Google got this one right. I see many instances below where other sites are much higher quality and have more authority. It's as if Google took terrible sites and said here is a site for you, now deal with it and I hope it works out at the top. I do see several sites that belong on the first page, but I see others that are very questionable. This is how the following is written below. Before the url is the anchor text density % for the site. This indicates the percentage of the amount of times the anchor text was backlined versus other anchor texts they used. Issues with the sites. Most of these sites don't utilize onpage SEO and it's clearly not a factor for onpage density purposes, there is a site with 37% keyword density on it. Some sites even have broken links. Please note: I already know that there is a lot of data that is analyzed to determine rankings more than this, but PA/DA is suppose to be a major factor according to everyone that believes in SEOMOZ.org. So I am taking in account for many of those factors being calculated due to this. These are just some random keywords I picked, because I know you need to analyze other SEO firms after and update to figure out what lasted and what didn't. All of my sites lasted due to ethical tactics, but I had some rankings move down and others go up, very odd. The onpage SEO is sloppy and the writing looks forced. Why is this even ranking? The site also looks low quality. The density is higher than SEOMOZ even and it has less words. My site just dropped out of the rankings completely. But if you look at the Google search above you will notice 2 things:
1. First page: 75% of space above the fold is dedicated to Google making money
2. Subsequent pages: It is like you don't actually search "Google" If you flip through a few pages what you actually search is:
agoda.com
flipkey.com
tripadvisor.com
homeaway.com Do I have a point or am I simply having a cynical day?1 -
Does it make sense to go after broad search with less competition vs. narrow search with very high competition?
We are in the process of analyzing our current site structure, on-page optimization and keywords to form a new strategy around our site. What we are finding with the keyword research we’ve done thus far is keywords that are shorter-tail have less competition, but far more searches than some of the long-tail keywords. For purposes of illustration I will give an example. Let's say we sell Wedding Cakes and the keyword string “Garden Wedding” has approximately 246,000 monthly local searches and medium competition, but “Garden Wedding Cakes” only has 880 searches and very high competition. We believe that if we create a very effective landing page for "Garden Wedding" with all kinds of great content surrounding "Garden Wedding" that we have a much better chance of ranking on page 1 than if we were to go after the term "Garden Wedding Cakes". Furthermore, the volume of search far exceeds the "Garden Wedding Cakes" and hopefully will reach a much larger audience. However, because "Garden Wedding" is such a broad term, we are concerned that we don't necessarily understand what folks are searching for vs, when someone types in "Garden Wedding Cakes" we know they are looking for a cake. Here are the questions we have: Targeting broader terms with higher search, has anyone implemented this type of strategy? We think in the long run, this will help us with exposure, but also with help our targeted page of "Garden Wedding Cakes" rank higher (if we can earn a great PR for the page "Garden Wedding". Would we run the risk of creating a higher bounce rate with this strategy for people who are looking specifically for Garden Wedding items/supplies, etc.. Is this a major concern? Could we monetize the effort put into new, rich content surrounding Garden Weddings, when we are in the business to sell Wedding Cakes? Any insight that one can provide would be greatly appreciated.

How does recent Google update affect e-commerce sites:
Most ecommerce sites use the original manufacturer product descriptions in their content. The product features and specifications are the content made by the manufacturer. Sometimes manufacturers insist that the ecommerce sites should use their original content and it is impossible to change what available in the original content and rewrite it.
