How ppc affects organic and direct convesions and traffic.
-
Hi,
I was wondering what percentage of organic conversions is related to ppc previous traffic. I mean, when we evaluate the results of a campaign, we take a look at the cost per conversion in analytics for one specific word.
Lets say that we know that for PPC campaigns we have the following data
Adwords / PPC
Visits: 4500
%conversions rate = 1,15%
Cost per conversion = $10
ORGANIC
Visits: 1300
% conversions rate = 2,10%
DIRECT
Visitis: 1000
%conversions rate= 2,54%
It is obvious that if I cancel the adwords campaign part of the organic and direct traffic will drop too. So, I was wondering if have you ever done this calculation and if you know what percentage of the organic a direct traffic is related with de ppc campaigns.
I mean... Let's say... "20% of the ppc traffic will come back to the website as organic traffic or direct traffic", or something like that...
Anyone???
Thanks

Thank you so much Jasmine,
your anwser has been very helpful for me.
I have been checking the data in the assisted conversion funnel section and I have an idea now about what is happening with the channels and conversions.
Excellent!

This is definitely a job for Analytics!
Typically you can see how important paid search is to your funnel by looking at the Assisted Conversion Funnel in the Conversions section of Analytics. The closer to 1.0 each channel gets means that it is more important to the completion of that funnel.
Or, here's a quick way I just worked out for you to see how many times PPC touches a converting funnel where Direct is also involved... I don't typically work this out from this direction so my math could be incorrect. You'll want to look to the Multi-Channel Funnel > Top Conversion Paths report, select the conversion metric you are most interested in viewing (we can only see multi-channel paths for conversions with this method), and set the lookback date to 90 days, and choose to list more than 10 instances. I chose all of mine for this experiment.
Download the Top Conversion Paths for your transaction. The sample size I had was 187 different conversion paths. But the client I was viewing also had a "greater than 5 min on site" goal and the number of paths to that was 4113. There are so many ways someone can come to your site, so don't forget to be open minded about the paths that people take!
I filtered this list of 187 paths to just PPC (66) then I used this function {=SUM(LEN(A192:A236)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A192:A236,"Direct","")))/LEN("Direct")}* to find all the instances of Direct within those (317). For this particular conversion type, we see 20.8% of conversion funnels that involved PPC and Direct, 16.8% that involved PPC and Direct and Organic. But this could have been a funnel that was as bizarre as: Social > Email > Direct > Organic > PPC > Email > Direct. It will take a lot more granularity & descriptive funnel naming to pick out what instances of these started or ended with NonBrand or Brand searches.
- This function must be entered as an Array, so instead of just hitting ENTER when you submit it to a cell, you must CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to get it to work, thus the brackets will show in the cell.

How I can exclude "Events" & "Traffic" from a specific IP?
I would like to know how I can exclude the events triggered from a specific IP for example my office' IP address. I've already added a filter to exclude my office's IP address, but the "events" are still showing in the new view. TIA!

Multiple Thank You pages with one Contact form - PPC
Hi everyone,
Conversion Rate Optimization | | Carla_Dawson
I am running a PPC (Google Adwords Campaign) and it is pretty big. I have about 25 landing pages each with a Contact Form. I need the contact form to go to a unique thank you page for each landing page to measure conversions via Google Adwords. In other words I need the contact form on submission to redirect to a specific and unique thank you page that I can define. The contact form needs to be the same for all landing pages to avoid having to produce 25 landing pages. I am ok with producing 25 Example
http://www.maindomain.com/landing-page-1 redirects tohttp://www.maindomain.com/thank-you-1 http://www.maindomain.com/landing-page-2 redirects tohttp://www.maindomain.com/thank-you-2 http://www.maindomain.com/landing-page-3 redirects tohttp://www.maindomain.com/thank-you-3 Can someone help me with this?
Thanks https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/0 -
Large changes in conversions with consistent traffic
Hi Everyone, I am looking for some help, I have just taken over a campaign for a client and we are seeing huge changes in conversion rates overnight. The client is selling a health product and is consistently getting around 1-2k visitors per day. We are getting about 6% of the traffic to the buy page consistently. However, we have found that one day the order process may convert 1/20 of these visitors and another day it could be 1/80. We are only talking about 5-20 sales per day, but I am really confused why one day it can convert so well and another so poorly. The traffic being sent is the same and all other factors are the same (no split testing). There seems to be no logic, the day of the week does not seem to impact, it almost seems random. If anybody has any recommended places to look that would be very helpful as at the moment I am at a loss. Example: Sunday 15th Visitors: 1,279

Does Lack of CTR Reduce Organic Impressions
I have a business model that works off Impressions and not CTR.
Conversion Rate Optimization | | numbers
Obviously impressions on a search engine normally lead to CTR and the landing page does the conversion. But what if I can convert a sale directly on the search engine results page without the client clicking the actual search result. Therefore the CTR is heavily reduced. Does a reduced CTR effect your rank on the search results? I know that in PPC the CTR is an important factor for relevancy, thus reducing your PPC costs. Result is you pay more per click to get position 1-3. But does it matter for organic results ? I am currently testing the model and do have pages in rank 1-3 that generate approximately 3 times the number of conversion to the CTR (unique sales). I would also like to know if there is a way to measure the numbr of Impressions a page gets with their search rank, webmaster tools does have it but it seems to be a rounded to the nearest 10,000 figure. All contributions on this welcome, Thank You.0 -
How can I track the traffic source/keyword of form submissions?
I'm using Google Analytics on www.nhfinehomes.com and would like to track the source of leads submitted via form submissions. Ideally, I could track if the lead originated from organic search (and what keyword phrase), PPC, referral links, etc. Is this possible with Google Analytics and if so, can anyone point to some documentation on how to do this or better yet someone who can help me set this up? This site is running ASP.NET and uses JQuery so there is not a 'traditional' thank you page that I can reference. I'm not a programmer and do not pretend to be one! Thanks in advance. Link

UX Design: Do Directional Cues Help?
Hi, Bit of a different subject really to the usual SEO chat but as most of you know UX/CRO fits in nicely with SEO. For those of you who know about directional cues, what are your experiences with them, what types of directional cues worked best for you? And has anyone had any positive experiences with cues and social buttons? For those who are not sure what directional cues are: http://www.ioninteractive.com/post-click-marketing-blog/2010/11/19/how-to-use-design-to-form-directional-cues-on-landing-pages.html Thanks

Any SEO tips for optimizing / driving traffic to category pages?
Hello! I listened to Adam Audette at Linklove in Boston this month and he spoke a little on creatively linking product pages back to their respective category pages - as it had an effect on the SEO... However, I don't know much about "internal" linking... Any other SEO tips for optimizing / driving traffic to category pages? Thanks!

How to track PPC conversions?
I use both adwords and Microsoft Adcenter. I am looking to be able to track my conversions from each PPC site. I do not have a "Thank You" or "Check Out" page that I can tag because any sales that I make are through clicks on a link that goes offsite to an affiliate company that I receive commission from. However, the link on my site is a "Buy Now" button, so to get some idea of which source is giving me better conversions I'd like to know whether adcenter or adwords is sending more people that end up clicking this link. Canb anyone suggest a way or a program to set up in this manner? Thanks in advance for your help!
