      Technical help required - please!
In our Duplicate Content Pages Report I see a lot of duplicate pages that are created by one URL plus several versions of the same page with the dynamic content, for example,
      http://www.georgebrown.ca/immigranteducation/programs
      http://www.georgebrown.ca/school-program.aspx?id=1909&Sortid=Study
      http://www.georgebrown.ca/school-program.aspx?id=1909&Sortid=Term
      http://www.georgebrown.ca/school-program.aspx?id=1909&Sortid=Certification
      http://www.georgebrown.ca/school-program.aspx?id=1909&Sortid=Title

      How do we solve it?

Ektron CMS. Yah, will have to go with the noindex somehow.

I don't know which CMS/framework you use but it's unlikely you can set canonical at template level.

Oh!!! Just now realized a different problem with canonical.

The same template is used with different URLs, for example, http://www.georgebrown.ca/immigranteducation/programs/ is the same template as http://www.georgebrown.ca/liberalarts/programs/, just with a different set of programs. We have 22 schools, each page creates 4 versions of itself (depending on the ordering of the programs).

So there is no way to program ONE url on the template level. Do I understand that correct?

Moz doesn't pick, just signal the duplicate content. If you add the canonical Moz should understand and un flag it as duplicate.

                1. I think I will go with a canonical tag.
                2. I believe noindex will not work as this is a template used in multiple page.

                3. Done that, but then MOZ reports them as duplicate content, which drives me crazy 🙂

                4. Done that too. But don't know how to tell MOZ 🙂

                  • You can just add a canonical tag to signal google which version is the one to index.
                  • Or add meta "noidex"to the versions you do not want to be indexed.
                  • Or just do nothing and let google pick his preferred version for its index.
                  • Or you can teach google what those url parameter do and instruct him to do not index those versions.

I would programmatically add meta noindex.

How to deal with auto generated pages on our site that are considered thin content

Hi there, Wondering how to deal w/ about 300+ pages on our site that are autogenerated & considered thin content. Here is an example of those pages: https://app.cobalt.io/ninp0 The pages are auto generated when a new security researcher joins our team & then filled by each researcher with specifics about their personal experience. Additionally, there is a fair amount of dynamic content on these pages that updates with certain activities. These pages are also getting marked as not having a canonical tag on them, however, they are technically different pages just w/ very similar elements. I'm not sure I would want to put a canonical tag on them as some of them have a decent page authority & I think could be contributing to our overall SEO health. Any ideas on how I should deal w/ this group of similar but not identical pages?

                    Pages with URL Too Long

Hello Mozzers! MOZ keeps kindly telling me the URLs are too long. However, this is largely due to the structure of E-commerce site, which has to include 'brand' 'range' and 'products' keyword. For example -
https://www.choicefurnituresuperstore.co.uk/Devonshire-Rustic-Oak-Bedside-Cabinet-1-Drawer-p40668.html MOZ recommends no more than 75 characters. This means we have 25-30 characters for both the brand name and product name. Questions:
If it is an issue, how to fix it on my site?
If it's not an issue, how can we turn off this alert from MOZ?
Anyone know how big an issue URLs are as a ranking factor? I thought pretty low.

Should I set blog category/tag pages as "noindex"? If so, how do I prevent "meta noindex" Moz crawl errors for those pages?

From what I can tell, SEO experts recommend setting blog category and tag pages (ie. "http://site.com/blog/tag/some-product") as "noindex, follow" in order to keep the page quality of indexable pages high. However, I just received a slew of critical crawl warnings from Moz for having these pages set to "noindex." Should the pages be indexed? If not, why am I receiving critical crawl warnings from Moz and how do I prevent this?

How long for authority to transfer form an old page to a new page via a 301 redirect? (& Moz PA score update?)

Hi How long aproximately does G take to pass authority via a 301 from an old page to its new replacement page ? Does Moz Page Authority reflect this in its score once G has passed it ? All Best

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic

SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

Page Authority is the same on every page of my site

I'm analyzing a site and the page authority is the exact same for every page in the site. How can this be since the page authority is supposed to be unique to each page?

Domain.com and domain.com/index.html duplicate content in reports even with rewrite on

I have a site that was recently hit by the Google penguin update and dropped a page back. When running the site through seomoz tools, I keep getting duplicate content in the reports for domain.com and domain.com/index.html, even though I have a 301 rewrite condition. When I test the site, domain.com/index.html redirects to domain.com for all directories and root. I don't understand how my index page can still get flagged as duplicate content. I also have a redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com. Is there anything else I need to do or add to my htaccess file? Appreciate any clarification on this.

How fast can page authority be grown

I understand that it is easier to rank for a particular keyword given a higher DA score. How fast can  page authority be established and grown for a given keyword if DA is equal to 10/20/30/50? What are the relative measures that dictate the establishment and growth of this authority? Can it be enumerated to a percentage of domain links? or a percentage of domain links given an assumed C-Block ratio? For example you have a website with DA of 40, and you want to target a new keyword, the average PA of the top ranked pages is 30, the average domain links are 1,000, and the average number of linking domains is 250 - if you aim to build 1,000 links per month from 500 linking domains, how fast can you approximate the establishment of page authority for the keyword?
