How did I get over 1000 backlinks in less then a month? help?
-
Hi Guys
I'm a newbie and just started my website, im wondering if im reading this correctly, i use a tool called my seo tools and its telling me my website zenory.co.nz has over 1600 backlinks, this is scary since the site is only 5months old and i didn't see this till at least today and i check my sites backlinks on a regular basis. However when I check with moz it says I only have 2? I'm a little confused. Any advice here?
Much appreciated
Thanks

Check with ahrefs or majestic, check the links manually or using a tool like link detox and then you'll know what needs to be done.

Hi MindlessWizard,
Thanks so much for your help! Yes, I contact the company myseotools who i use, and they said the results they feed from come via ahrefs, who are displaying these results incorrectly, in the meantime I had already contacted the web master to remove my link, so its good to know that I went ahead and did the right thing.
My question would be how long does it usually take for a company to refresh the results?

I checked you site with ahrefs.com and here is the backlink profile. So all of the backlinks coming from total of 16 domains. And here is something that you should look for
http://prntscr.com/6t64y7 1,623 backlinks coming from this domain. You can contact them and request to remove your listing from there. That solve half of your problem if they can remove your listing.

Hi Lewis
Thanks for that! This was also confusing as I checked moz and it was saying I only had 2 backlinks, which I couldn't make any sense of, so I sent the web master at the directory that were sending me all the links, works out it was because I was categorised in all regional categories which ended up in being over 900 categories, to which were all linking back to me... This is in the same industry as well, so when i checked the site pointing to me had good authority as well.

According to Open Site Explorer, you only have one external link going to your site.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use the disavow tool if you do have some dodgy links - http://moz.com/blog/guide-to-googles-disavow-tool
Hope this helps.

Thanks Alick, seriously you have been so helpful!
Any idea on how I can go about using this disavow tool? I have heard about it but not sure how I go about applying it in the real SEO world lol
-
Hi Justin,
Yes you can do that and that would be the best if they remove & in the worst case if they don't remove or asking to pay leave them .You can use disavow tool and disavow entire that directory domain.
Hope this helps
Thanks

Hi Alick300
I tried using ahrefs but I don't have an account with them. It does look like there are alot, would you recommend that I contact the owner to delist from the directory?
-
Hi Justin,
I have never use myseotools so I can't say about authenticity one thing I would like to mention here that huge number of links from same site is not good thing & Google can easily caught such links.
I would like to suggest to check in some other tools once if you are getting there such number of links then you have to consider it seriously
Thanks
-
Hi Alick300
Yes I checked GWT i don't see anything thats come through from them yet?
When I check the myseotools for where the links where coming from, it looks like they are from a directory that i submitted my listing to under each region category that seems to be returning a link per region.
-
Hi Justin,
Did you check in Google webmaster tools? If not please do check how many links you are seeing there?
****Over 1000 links within a month is very suspicious if that tool showing current numbers. ****
If you have ahrefs tool please also check there . You will get correct data
Thanks

Malicious backlinks
Hello to everyone! We have identified some weird links that are pointing to our site and we are not sure if they are considered malicious backlinks and we should disavow them. Most of them are directories of websites, the most common one is called "Top million domains by alexa" (you can see an example here: www.besafe.in/domain-list-237). Have you ever seen these kind of links before? Are they causing harm to our site? Thank you so much!

Backlinks in Footer - The good, the bad, the ugly.
I tried adding onto a question already listed, however that question stayed where it was and didn't go anywhere close to somewhere others would see it, since it was from 2012. I have a competitor who is completely new, just popped onto the SERPs in December 2015. Now I've wondered how they jumped up so fast without really much in the way of user content. Upon researching them, I saw they have 200 backlinks but 160 of them are from their parent company, and of all places coming from the footer of their parent company. So they get all of the pages of that domain, as backlinks. Everything I've read has told me not to do this, it's going to harm the site bad if anything will discount the links. I'm in no way interested in doing what they did, even if it resulted in page 1 ( which it has done for them ), since I believe that it's only a matter of time, and once that time comes, it won't be a 3 month recovery, it might be worse. What do you all think? My question or discussion is why hasn't this site been penalized yet, will they be penalized and if not, why wouldn't they be? **What is the good, bad and ugly of backlinks in the footer: ** Good Bad Ugly

Is it worth getting links from .blogspot.com and .wordpress.com?
Our niche ecommerce site has only one thing going for it: We have numerous opportunities on a weekly basis to get reviews from "mom bloggers". We need links - our domain authority is depressing. My concern is that these "mom bloggers" tend to have blogs that end with .blogspot.com or .wordpress.com. How do I screen for "reviewers" that are worth getting links from and how can I make the most of the community we have available to us?

Are expired domains for Godaddy backlinks already reset by googel ?
When does Google actual reset backlinks to a domain. If i am buying expired domains from godaddy action for linking purpose am i wasting my time. Also if that the case whats the point of buying expired domains with many links pointing to them. If the backlinks to the expired domain still show up under my Google webmaster tool window does that mean Google counts that link?

Finding and Removing bad backlinks
Ok here goes. Over the past 2 years our traffic and rankings have slowly declined, most importantly, for keywords that we ranked #1 and #2 at for years. With the new Penguin updates this year, we never saw a huge drop but a constant slow loss. My boss has tasked me with cleaning up our bad links and reshaping our link profile so that it is cleaner and more natural. I currently have access to Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, SEOMoz, and Link Builder. 1)What is the best program or process for identifying bad backlinks? What exactly am I looking for? Too many links from one domain? Links from Low PR or low “Trust URL” sites? I have gotten conflicting information reading about all this on the net, with some saying that too many good links(high PR) can be unnatural without some lower level PR links, so I just want to make sure that I am not asking for links to be removed that we need to create or maintain our link profile. 2)What is the best program or process for viewing our link profile and what exactly am I looking for? What constitutes a healthy link profile after the new google algorithm updates? What is the best way to change it? 3)Where do I start with this task? Remove spammy links first or figure out or profile first and then go after bad links? 4)We have some backlinks that are to our old .aspx that we moved to our new platform 2 years ago, there are quite a few (1000+). Some of these pages were redirected and some the redirects were broken at some point. Is there any residual juice in these backlinks still? Should we fix the broken redirects, or does it do nothing? My boss says the redirects wont do anything now that google no longer indexes the old pages but other people have said differently. Whats the deal should we still fix the redirects even though the pages are no longer indexed? I really appreciate any advice as basically if we cant get our site and sales turned around, my job is at stake. Our site is www.k9electronics.com if you want to take a look. We just moved hosts so there are some redirect issues and other things going on we know about.

Can you block backlinks from another domain
Wondering if this is somehow possible. A site got hacked and created a /data folder with hundreds of .php files that are web pages selling all sorts of stuff. We deleted the /data folder and blocked Google from indexing it. Just noticed in Webmaster Tools that the site has 35,000 backlinks from other sites that got hacked with the same way. Is there a way to block these sites? I am assuming there isn't, but wanted to see if anyone ran into the same problem. It is a wordpress site is that helps.
