How do you check what links there are to a specific page on a site?
-
Hi Mozzers, I'm doing a bit of research and need your help! I'm trying to find out what specific sites link to a particular page on a website. What's the best tool to use as I checked it with Moz and it only brought back 5 links? Then I tried an free online tool and it said there were 35 links. I'm a bit confused now. What tool/s do you use to check links to a specific page?
-
Hello, to see all the links to a page have a look at Google Webmaster Tools (now called Search Console). If you go to 'Links to my site' there is a list on the right called 'Your most linked content'. If you click on this it will give you a breakdown of the links to each page which Google are using as ranking factors.

Hi Leo,
Sounds like you were doing the right thing. Different tools will show different numbers, as all tools use different link indexes. In general, Moz is a bit more picky about the links it displays - we try to display the most important links that are likely to have an impact on your ranking. The downside of this is that our index can be smaller than some of the others (Ahrefs, Majestic) and you'll often find a bigger volume of links with those other indexes.
Also, for general help in using Open Site Explorer, here's an excellent resource: https://moz.com/help/guides/research-tools/open-site-explorer

Hi
Opensiteexplorer is not bad but I have to say that ahrefs is more comprehensive. I would recommend ahrefs even though sometimes it misses important links with high DA.there is also a problem with delays at it will only catch some links today when those exists since 2 years or more. So be very careful when analyzing links with any tool, they often lack precision.
Cheers

Have you given Moz's Open Site Explorer a trial yet.
Simply type in the URL you want to look into and it will give you valuable insight into the pages inbound links and other useful metrics such as page authority, domain authority, spam scores of inbound links, social shares etc.
Definately worth a try.

Hi Leo,
Try Ahrefs.com. It is one of the best backlink checker tool and they show some fantastic data and break it down in pretty much every way imaginable.
How many links you have, from how many IPs, linking to which pages with which anchor text.
They breakdown the links by types and provide all sorts of graphs and visualisation options
Hope this helps.
Thanks

You just have to type link:http://www.yourdomain.com/whateverpageyouwanttocheck into Google's Search Box and you will get a list of pages which link to that page.

Avvo.com: Are links in the contribution area bad for SEO?
Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read my question. I am struggling with a client of mine. I have done just about everything that I can think of that has worked on other sites. Banging my head up against the wall here. He is VERY active in the contribution area of Avvo.com (answering questions and making guides). His site use to rank very well but now it can't be found at all. One of the things that caught my attention is the way he would leave his citation in his answers for AVVO. He would leave a direct link to his website. Since his rankings have dropped I have advised him to stop. Do you think Google is treating them as spam? His link profile is small >1000 links but half of them are from AVVO I was wondering if anyone else any experience with this? Thanks in advance

Google crawled "Cross Domain" links. Is this an issue? if yes then how we can remove it?
We have two sites. One site for US (site.com)and another is for India(site.co.in). Redirection is working based on ip address and location. So if I write US(site.com) site link in India location then it will automatically redirect to India site(site.co.in). We have given a link in the header of the site which will be used to open another country site. Example : Currently India site open in my browser so it contain US site link. and US site open in my browser so it contain India site link. We check on google web master and we found back links of cross domains so Is it an issue?

How often do you submit to local search/citation sites?
I recently received a Network Solutions spam/offer email regarding their internet marketing packages. One of the "benefits" they cited was that they submit your information to local search/citation sites once a month, to keep it up-to-date. I don't know about you guys, but my clients' information isn't changing on a frequent basis. I remember when it used to be a tactic to submit regularly to the same citation sites, but that seems like overkill now. Does anyone still do this, or is NS just trying to make their product sound good? Do we need to update citation sites frequently, or is it enough to update when there are actual changes to make?

Why would so many links be appearing in the source code of this page - but not on the page itself?
Hi everyone, Have a look at the source code of this page: http://www.daleproaudio.com/c-332-mixers.aspx Notice the numerous links in the source code that do not appear on the page. Is this cloaking? Or is it a by-product of their use of Nextopia? Bonus points if anyone knows what platform this site is running on 🙂 Thanks!

Storing & Analyzing Site Search Phrases
We are adding a JQuery smart search to our site that provides product suggestions as our visitors type. I can create a simple script to store precisely what the visitors are searching for and how they type it. However... I am not sure how to best analyze the data for use. Simply storing the data does not tell me how many times a particular phrase was used. I believe a smart suggestion search tool will skew my results, as it will suggest what I list my product names as in my database rather than what they call it. I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I found a great JQuery script for the suggestion search, but is there anything out there for storing and analyzing the user search input?
