Hi Matt!
No i have not yet found a tool which can do this.
The _ScrapeBox Anchor Text plugin _CleverPhD mentioned can only do this for one domain at a time. I need it for multiple domains.
Any other suggestions?
-
Hi Jay! Did you get this worked out?
-
Thanks Jay. If I look on the backlinks side, they all seem to have the same subdomain in some form or another. You would just need to setup the regex in Screaming Frog to look for just that keyword in the subdomain so it should match all the variants of it.
That said, ignore everything I just posted. I was thinking earlier, "Surely there is scraper software out there that does this already." I did not take the time to look. Your mention of Scrapebox reminded me of that.
Scrapebox has a separate addon that does this
http://www.scrapebox.com/anchor-text-checker
The ScrapeBox Anchor Text Checker allows you to enter your domain and then load a list of URL’s that contain your backlink. It will scan all the URL’s containing your link and extract the anchor text used by the websites that link to you.

Basically want the anchor text, so I can easily identify the location of the link on the page without needing to view source and search for the URL.
This export is directly from: http://s29.postimg.org/ujxm0c4lj/screenshot_677.jpg
Scrapebox backlink checker which doesn't give you anchor text.

Ok. Can you be more specific on what you are trying to accomplish with this data? I think that may help my understanding of what you are trying to do.
-
Thanks CleverPhD, sorry should had mentioned i'm looking to do this for multiple domain names not just one. So the method you describe works great for a single domain.

Screaming Frog can do this with custom extraction and list mode. If I am reading your question correctly, you have a list of URLs and what pages on your site that they link to.
You would upload the list of URLs into Screaming Frog so it knows what pages to scan and run it in list mode
http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/user-guide/configuration/#15
You would then use the custom extraction tool to grep for the ahref code that has a link to your domain
http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/web-scraper/
You would need to plug in a regular expression to look for your domain (or versions of it) and then include the rest of the HTML tag that include the anchor text all the way through the ending .
You should then be able to import that data into a spreadsheet and use text to columns to split the anchor text into it's own column.
It is a little tricky as the regular expression may have to be tweaked depending on how other sites link to your site. Run the Frog on a test group of 10 or so to make sure it works. If you have a bunch of errors, take the error examples and tweak the regular expression based on those.

How to pull GMB reviews onto a webite
Hi Guys, I want to get our GMB reviews example:https://cl.ly/8c33973f15eb appearing also on SERP page example: https://cl.ly/8c33973f15eb Is it possible to pull GMB reviews and do this? From my understanding for review rich snippets to appear you actually need the reviews housed on your website and cannot be pulled from third party like GMB. Cheers.

What is the best way to go about product comparison text?
Our website is in the midst of a massive content enrichment project - we're moving from mostly catalog content to optimized web content. Our catalog and copy teams are hoping to include more product comparisons on the web (e.g. "unlike composite basketballs, rubber one's are more X..."), which can certainly provide useful information to our shoppers! However, from an SEO standpoint, we seem to have confused search engines when doing this in the past (i.e. the example above is currently ranked for a "composite basketball" term, not a rubber one). So... What is the best way to provide useful product comparisons without confusing search engines?

Anchor text penalties and indexed links
Hi! I'm working on a site that got hit by a manual penalty some time ago. I got that removed, cleaned up a bunch of links and disavowed the rest. That was about six months ago. Rankings improved, but the big money terms still aren't doing great. I recently ran a Searchmetrics anchor text report though, and it said that direct match anchors still made up the largest part of the overall portfolio. However, when I started looking at individual links with direct anchors, nearly every one had been removed or disavowed. My question is, could an anchor text penalty be in place because these removed links have not been reindexed? If so, what are my options? We've waited for this to happen naturally, but it hasn't occurred after quite a few months. I could ping them - could this have any impact? Thanks!

Large scale change of incoming anchor text/alt tag image links
I provide SEO services in-house and for clients for a ecommerce and web design company. For every client site we create or host we provide a image link on the bottom linking back to our company website. I started researching competitors that offer same services for our industry that have top Google rankings for all the terms we are targeting and i just realized they rank that well because their image/anchor text link they place on client sites is alt tagged for that specific keyword. We have not been optimizing or utilizing this easy keyword backlink method. I am now wanting to go to all of our clients sites and change our backlinks to target the keyword we are optimizing for but my concern is will that number of incoming anchor text/image alt tag links cause us to get penalized from google for either over optimization or them seeing 100's of backlinks keyword specific just change overnight. What is the best way to go about this change in a safe way to avoid or risk penalty from Google? 99% of all of our client backlinks are in the footer so they show up on every single page and they are all images. Would it have a different affect if i add a alt tag to those images so that we get the oncoming link juice of that specific keyword? One of my concerns is over optimization, since some of our clients have 1000's of pages on their website. so that is 1000's of incoming exact match keyword links. I feel like the danger is low for being penalized but i would rather be safe then sorry and get additional feedback. Thanks, Stephen

Is white text on a white background an issue when...?
Hi guys, This question was loosely answered here (http://www.seomoz.org/q/will-google-index-a-site-with-white-text-will-it-give-it-bad-ratings), but I wanted to elaborate on the concern. The issue I have is this, http://www.searchenginexperts.com.au/preview/white-text-white-background-issue Of the four div elements on the page, which; is best practice for SEO? and which of them would not be penalized by google on the grounds of hidden text? The reason I ask is that I have a site that is currently implementing the first div styling, but if you either remove the image OR uncheck the repeat-x (in inspect element) the text is left as white on white. I have added the transparent image on green to prove that having a background colour to back up the tiled image is not always going to work. What can be done in this scenario? Thanks in advance, Dan (From my managers account)

Anchor text help
Hello, I am a small website designer in Mexico.. as you know it is hard to rank in these keywords My main competitors appear with (diseño web = web design) on google.com.mx Almost 80% of the anchor text from my links are (diseño web Mexico =web design Mexico) If I search (diseño web Mexico =web design) on google.com.mx I appear on first page. If I search (diseño web = web design) on google.com.mx I appear on page 3. My questions: Is this because my anchor text is diseño web Mexico? should i change it to (diseño web = web design)? Or is it because (diseño web = web design) is a harder key word to rank? this is my website http://bit.ly/eKyWvr Regards

Questions about Vittana.org's blogging contest and having bloggers use specific anchor text.
Hi All, Kenji Crosland here. I just joined vittana.org (yesterday!) to do some of the blogger outreach and content creation/link building. Although most of the links we've gotten in the past are branded links, we've decided to actively pursue anchor text links with specific keywords. If you check, you'll see that vittana has a relatively high domain authority. At the beginning of next week we'll be conducting a blogging contest with A-list celebrity tech bloggers. I don't think we'll have time to contact influencers in other areas for this contest unfortunately. When these A-list bloggers write their posts, we want them to have a link to this page: http://www.vittana.org/students To me, this seems a great opportunity to win on certain keywords we've discovered that should be easy to win and yet have a high volume of monthly searches. These are 5 word plus keywords that have over 300,000 searches per month. The students page, however, isn't optimized for those keywords. In the long run we want to win for the more difficult keyword "literacy". The word "literacy" is what we think will be a part of our new tagline: "Literacy is not enough". Because of time constraints, we won't be able to create landing pages to win for those "low hanging fruit" keywords in time for the blog contest. My question is: to what extent should we optimize the http://www.vittana.org/students page for the five word plus low hanging fruit keywords that we've discovered. I imagine if the content isn't relevant our clickthrough rates will suffer even if we do win for it (Altering our meta description is a possibility here) . Should we just try for the difficult keyword from the get go and come up with other ways to win for the low hanging fruit keywords? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
