Is too high a frequency of 'money' keywords backlinks (eg. a money keyword backlink for moz.com would be "Seo tools") a considered factor for Penguin penalties even if the money keywords are only on reputable pages, with decent PA, DA and trust ?

Not only money making keywords but over emphasize on any keywords will be dangerous for your link profile. Whenever I think of anchor link, I consider one thing and that is the fact that this keyword on anchor will make sense or not.
I mean, when I am getting a link in between of the blog post (within the content) there is good chance that I can get an exact match or atleast partial match anchor text. But, in author bio, donation links, mention links, reverse image search in most cases it will be either naked URL, brand name or some text that may or may not be your targeted keyword.
My advice is to make sure that its making sense to have the kind of anchor text, if not you know what steps you should take from there.

Hi There,
It seems that you are focusing on Quantity of backlinks rather than quality. The basic reason google gives value to backlinks is that it considers you are doing some work that is getting attention from right people on right websites.
We have worked for a very BIG website hosting company which was hit by earlier Penguin updates as there were literally million of backlinks pointing to their website(This was due to their affiliate marketing network). We tried disavowing links, however, they would creep up daily from one affiliate marketer or another. The next Penguin 3.0 update, solved many of problems by itself, it seems Google understood and differentiated the Good backlinks and weighed them more over the bad backlinks
Quality of links will improve if you focus on getting real visitors to your website, and search engines will automatically follow you
- Referred Visitors who stay long on your website help boost your rankings, so try to create engagement using blog comments / social media comments. Keep the interaction real, informative, helpful and engaging.
- The goal is to establish you first as an authority for your niche, focus on this goal.
Whenever people talk about backlinks, their focus goes to building them up in number so that google considers you an authority for the subject matter showcased on your website. However, I always advice “Stick to basics”, focus on getting real visitors and giving them a good experience while browsing your Website. Rest will follow!! (even search engines and real traffic)
I hope this helps, and you would make organic looking , quality backlinks.
Feel free to respond and ask further questions.
Regards,
Vijay

What are the SEO implications of high quality backlinks from US-based websites to UK-based websites?
Hi everyone, quick question I hope someone could help me with: We're representing a client based in the UK. As part of their overall strategy we've been linkbuilding. At the moment, about 80/90% of the links we've gained come from UK-based sites, with 10/20% coming from US-based websites. The US based websites are very good (think New York Times and genuine, relevant blogs with good readerships). An external search analyst/consultant has contacted the client to say that the US links will be harming the site, because the links are from websites in the US and not the UK. We believe that if 80/90% of the links were from the US this could indeed cause harm as it could indicate to search engines that our client is in the US when it's not (which might compromise their chance of ranking in .co.uk versions of search engines) however because it's only 10/20%, and because the linking sites are very good, we believe that they will getting all of the benefits of the positive metrics without any meaningful negatives. We just wanted to get a few opinions on this to see if people think that we're mistaken, and would be glad to hear any opinions contrary to our own.

Good or Bad Backlinks
Hi All We are trying to go through all of our backlinks to see which links are good and which are bad. We are using two paid for tools to find our backlinks and sort them out, either good or bad. I have found that both tools have returned links as being good even though the links are not indexed by Google and have no page rank. Also we have found that both tools returns some links as good even though the links are pointing to a 404 page. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

How to Recover From a Google Penguin Penalty?
My web site is hit by penguin penalty and got the mail from Google to my web master tool saying. "Google has detected a pattern of artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site. Buying links or participating in link schemes in order to manipulate PageRank are violations of Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

As a result, Google has applied a manual spam action to xxxxx.com/. There may be other actions on your site or parts of your site.
Recommended action
Use the Links to Your Site feature in Webmaster Tools to download a list of links to your site.
Ensure that unnatural links pointing to your site are removed.
When these changes are made, and you are satisfied that links to your site follow Google's Webmaster Guidelines, submit a reconsideration request. If you're unable to remove links pointing to your site, please provide as much detail as possible in your reconsideration request. For an updated list of manual actions currently applied to your site, visit the Manual Actions page. Fresh set of eyes on this page please. Why isn't it ranking?
Morning all, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a quick look at this page and see if I'm missing something here. The targeted keyword (wedding favours) is pretty competitive and the rank had been slowly improving until recently and we've now slipped to 25th on Google UK. I've added a "Pay with a tweet" button for our eBook which has been pretty well received (around 100 downloads) so far so the social side is better than our competition. I've also written a few guest blogs with links back to the page from a variety of sources. Here is the page analysis on OSE. If you could take a quick look and let me know if I'm missing anything here, it would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Make a new page or more links to existing page for 2nd keyword?
We have a page optimized for 'blue widgets'. We rank in organic spot #3 or 4 for that (moves around from week to week). Fairly happy with that. We have another derivative term 'blue widgets small' (example, but it's same format: <original phrase="">+ <single word="">) where we currently rank #6 organic in Google when people search on the 3 word phrase.</single></original> We'd like to rank higher than #6 for the 3 word phrase. Should we: (1) Build a bunch of links with anchor text equal to the 3 word phrase and point to the existing page (which is optimized on-page for the first 2 of the 3 words) or (2) Make a new page optimized for the 3 word phrase and then start building links to it with anchor text equal to the 3 words (and non-cannibalizing variants of the 3 words)? The 2 word phrase is pretty competitive and it has taken us months to get that page to be #3 or 4 organic for that phrase. The 3 word phrase is much less competitive and we don't think it would take that long to make a dedicated page rank higher than #6 for the 3 words. Suggestions? Thanks.
