Old subdomains - what to do SEO-wise?

Hello,
I wanted the community's advice on how to handle old subdomains.
We have https://www.yoursite.org. We also have two subdomains directly related to the main website: https://www.archive.yoursite.org and https://www.blog.yoursite.org.
As these pages are not actively updated, they are triggering lots and lots of errors in the site crawl (missing meta descriptions, and much much more). We do not have particular intentions of keeping them up-to-date in terms of SEO. What do you guys think is the best option of handling these?
I considered de-indexing, but content of these page is still relevant and may be useful - yet it is not up to date and it will never be anymore.

You have mentioned a few ways to deal with this there - and they all seem to point out to the fact that this should not really be a high-priority issue for us at the moment. Especially, if you think that sub-domains do not really have a major effect to the main site (I would not even think it's even worth us deindexing to be honest as it may be relevant to some people and we can just allow Google to continue indexing as it is).
Surely, all considerations point to this: we can come to the conclusion that we won't be doing any SEO-related work on these pages.
Therefore, how do I set up MOZ to ignore these two sub-domains and only show crawl errors related to the main site? We just don't want these pages to be crawled at all by MOZ given we won't do any work on them.

Hi there. Sorry for the slow follow-up on this - there was an issue that meant I didn't get the email alert when it was assigned to me.
There is increasing evidence that culling old / poor performing content from your site can have a positive effect, though I wouldn't be particularly confident that this would transfer across sub-domains to benefit the main site.
In general, I suspect that most effort expended here will be better-placed elsewhere, and so I would angle towards the least effort option.
I think that the "rightest" long-term answer though would be to move the best content to the main domain (with accompanying 301 redirects) and remove the remainder with 410 status codes. This should enable you to focus on the most valuable content and get the most benefit from the stuff that is valuable, while avoiding having to continue expending effort on the stuff that is no longer useful. The harder this is, though, the less I'd be inclined to do it - and would be more likely to consider just deindexing the lowest quality stuff and getting whatever benefit remains from the better content for as long as it is a net positive, with an eye to eventually removing it all.
Hope that helps - I don't think it's a super clear-cut situation unfortunately.

Subdomain and Domain Linking Strategy
Here is my question for SEO. We are a mug printing company and we have a website specifically for bulk orders hosted at our main link (example.com). For the purposes of this example we will assume that we only print mugs for bands. Eg. orders for 100 mugs at a time for a band. We have had a need to create stores for bands so that they can then pass a link to their fans to purchase mugs. Our main website deals specifically with bulk orders only with customer provided logos, so extending this workflow to our main domain takes quite a bit of development time. Because of this, we purchased a service that allows us to create stores under the new domain stores.example.com. The root domain is the same as our main domain but there is “stores” in front of the domain. A band’s website that we would create would then look something like : stores.example.com/band1_merchandise These links are going to be spread by the band all over the web, and it is in my hope to be able to take advantage of this. Ideally stores.example.com/band1_merchandise being spread around will also give us a boost to www.example.com My question is how can we benefit the most from bands sharing the subdomain link such that our main website will be able to see an SEO benefit.

Want to Remove numbers from Old Post URL - Will it effect its Ranking?
Hi. I have a number of posts that are ranking in google for several keywords. However the URLs contain numbers, for example 2011, 2014 and 35. I want to remove these numbers to make the URLs more updated. If I use the 301 redirect for old URL to the new one, will I retain the same ranking for these blogposts Or it can effect the ranking. Does anyone have tried this in the past? I would like to get your opinion on this. Thanks in advance.

Negative SEO from Spammers Killing Client Rankings
Hi - I have identified a client website which was; a ) hacked and had several fraudulent pages added e.g. www.xxx.com/images/uggaustralia.html added which have 301 redirect links to another fraudulent websites. b) had an auto generated back link campaign (over 12k back links at present) with targeted anchor text at cheap ugg boots, ugg sale etc. I've removed the dodgy redirect web pages and also undertook a link audit using Google WMT, OSE and Seo Majestic and have disavowed all the spammy links at domain level. Consequently my client has dropped from top three for the key phrase to #9. Google WMT now sees ugg boots uk, ugg boots sale etc. as some of the most popular anchor text for the site even though it's blatantly obvious that the site has nothing to do with Ugg boots. No manual webspam penalties are in place however the auto generated anchor text campaign is still ongoing and is generating more spammy links back to non existent web pages - which still Google appears to be picking up. Question is - how long do you reckon it will take for the links to disappear and is there anything I can speed Google along as this issue if not of my making? p.s. For the record I've found at least 500 sites that have been targeted by this same campaign as well.

Vendor Descriptions for SEO... Troublesome?
Howdy! I have been tossing this idea around in my head over the weekend and I cannot decide which answer is correct, so here I am! We a retailer of products and is currently in the midst of redesigning our site-- not only design but also content. The issue that we are facing is with product descriptions from our vendors. We are able to access the product descriptions/specs from their websites and use them on ours, but my worry is that we will get tagged for duplicate content. Other retailers (as well as the vendors) are using this content as well, so I don't want this to have an adverse effect on our ranking. There are so many products that it would be a large feat to re-write unique content-- not to mention that the majority of the rhetoric would be extremely similar. What have you seen in your experiences in similar situations? Is it bad to use the descriptions? Or do we need to bite the bullet and do our best to re-write hundreds of product descriptions? Or is there a way to use the descriptions and tag it in a way that won't have Google penalize us? I originally thought that if we have enough other unique content on our site, that it shouldn't be as big of a deal, but then I realized how much of our site's structure is our actual products.
