Should I buy an expired domain that has already been redirected to some other website? Can I use it or redirect it to my own site if I purchase it?
-
I was going to purchase an expired domain but then I came to know that it has been redirected to some other website. I have two questions:
Can I build a website around this domain if I purchase it? and will the Domain Authority remains the same ?
Can I redirect it to my own site? and will all the Link Juice flow to my site?
-
If the domain has already been redirected somewhere else and if the redirects were accepted by Google, much of the authority for that domain may now have moved to a new location. In modern times the practice of buying domains and 301 redirecting them for extra link juice, is ineffective unless you are operating under very specific circumstances (and even then it's usually considered black-hat)
Nowadays Google often checks to see if the new content and pages are similar to the old ones. If they're not then quite often the redirect doesn't work for SEO purposes

Do old links from my own unrelated subject websites improve or hinder my rankings?
Several years ago I placed links on two of my other websites I own and control one my old company about CCTV installation and the other one is the official website for actor Sir Roger Moore. The links are going to my holiday cottage letting website http://www.endeavourcottage.co.uk/ and at the time I wanted to improve my rankings with these links which are still there. The vast majority of my other inbound links are natural and are on other people's websites with some diversity regarding the anchor text. So my question is the old links on these unrelated subject websites which are also stored on the same web hosting company causing a problem and would it be beneficial to remove them to leave them in place? Also several years ago I set up two other websites at the same hosting company also promoting holiday cottages in the same place thinking I might have more bites of the cherry, but they've produced very little traffic and are not ranked at all well, but they do links to my main letting website, could these because in a problem? My domain authority seems to be equal to some of the companies which are higher placed for the short tail keywords on page 1 of Google and they have less inbound links, although they are usually bigger companies and I know many things which influence rankings. I am trying strategies to improve the rankings, which have dropped to a small degree over recent months.

Google Site Warnings via Phone?
I received a voicemail earlier stating that "there are two issues with your company's current Google listing that we need to discuss with the business owner. it is very important that we talk as soon as possible. press 1 to speak with an agent immediately. press 8 if you have already verified your account information or if you are no longer in business and want to be removed from this list. thank you" that's it. no contact number, no reference to what listing or what type of listing (organic, places, etc.) Checked GWT, GA, and the Gmail - there are no warnings or messages in any of those accounts. Has anyone else experienced this?

Industry News | | LVH
My site's URL (web address) is:http://www.recoveryconnection.org/
Description (including timeline of any changes made):n mid-June, we were penalized. We received a message in WMT that our site was penalized for Doorway Pages, thin content, and pages trying to rank for just 1 KW. 1. We removed all doorway-style pages (according to guidelines) and consolidated content to target no less than 3 KWs per page, and not over-optimized.
2. Submitted first reconsideration request.
3. Denied 8 days later via MSG in WMT that stated simply that the site still did not meet Google's Guidelines.
4. Printed fresh copies of Google's guidelines, and rewrote almost every page of the site. We took down the blog in case of old thin content or possible doorway pages. We reduced the overall size of the site from over 400 pages down to around 80.
5. Submitted 2nd reconsideration request.
6. Denied 10 days later via MSG in WMT that stated simply that the site STILL did NOT meet Google's Guidelines.
7. Restructured site and it's content.
8. Denied 3rd time. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=43c09330ab7b25b5&hl=en Note: We have checked our link profile over and over, and we have NO Paid links. We have moved our entire site to a new platform, with clean code, new URL structure, etc. Does anyone have any feedback? Thanks.0 -
Alexa Site Audit
Hello All, I run an Alexa Site Audit report for my client. Is it normal that my Alexa site audit report will be public i.e. S3 URL for downloading the PDF file was open to anyone knowing the URL. No re-direct to login etc was there? Yes the S3 URL is funny but Google bots have ways to find this funny URLs so is this normal? If you have tried Alexa can you repeat the problem i.e. typing your S3 report URL? can you get it to? or is it just me. I have asked Alexa about it. I think there should be some security. Thanks.
