I'm new to Moz and SEO. When setting up a new campaign there are some keywords pre-filled. Sometimes there are a lot. Sometimes they are very client-specific rather than for the sector or for a search. Sometimes there are very few poor quality keywords. Should I research keywords so that there are as many as possible relevant keywords when first setting up the campaign or leave it as it is and add keywords later?

It's crucial to research keywords relevant to your sector and target audience. While pre-filled keywords can offer a starting point, they might not capture your specific needs. Research ensures you include high-quality, relevant keywords from the outset, optimizing your campaign's effectiveness. It's better to invest time upfront for better long-term results.

In determining whether you should add keywords in campaigns for your clients, consider factors such as campaign objectives, budget, market and competitor understanding, and necessary optimization actions. Always consult with your clients and consider A/B testing teknopediia to ensure your decisions support campaign success.

All of this must be part of a solid and measurable marketing strategy. By considering all these factors, you can make informed and efficient decisions for your clients' campaigns.

When you are preparing a new campaign for a client, the question of whether you should add keywords is a very important consideration. The answer to this question depends on various factors, such as campaign goals, budget, and the marketing strategy you have determined with your client. Below, I'll provide a complete guide to help you make an informed decision about whether you should add keywords to your campaign.

                  1. Campaign Objective:
When you plan a new campaign, an important first step is to understand your client's goals. Do they want to increase sales, increase website traffic, or increase brand awareness? If the main goal is to increase website traffic, adding keywords may be a good choice. However, if your primary goal is to increase sales, you might focus more on landing page optimization and more specific advertising strategies.

                  2. Campaign Budget:
Campaign budget also plays an important role in your decision. Adding keywords can increase campaign costs, especially if you use pay-per-click (PPC) advertising methods. Make sure that your client's budget is sufficient to support additional keywords. If your budget is limited, you may want to prioritize the most relevant and effective keywords.

                  3. Understanding of Market and Competitors:
Before you add keywords, it is important to have a good understanding of your client's market and competitors. Conducting keyword research and analyzing the keywords used by competitors can help you determine the most relevant and effective keywords. This can also help you avoid adding keywords that compete strongly and lead to high advertising costs.

                  4. Monitor and Optimize:
Once you decide to add keywords, it's important to continue monitoring and optimizing the campaign. Analyzing campaign data such as clicks, conversions, and costs can help you understand keyword performance. You can remove or adjust ineffective keywords and add new keywords based on the results you get.

                  5. A/B Test:
A/B testing is a powerful method to determine whether adding keywords is more effective in a campaign Teknopediia. You can create two versions of the same ad, one with additional keywords and one without. Then, you can compare the performance of the two to see if adding keywords actually produces better results.

                  6. Consult with Clients:
Lastly, always consult with your client before adding keywords. Discuss your options and explain the pros and cons of adding keywords. This will help ensure that you are working according to the client's vision and goals.

                  Summary:
In determining whether you should add keywords in campaigns for your clients, consider factors such as campaign objectives, budget, market and competitor understanding, and necessary optimization actions. Always consult with your clients and consider A/B testing to ensure your decisions support campaign success.

All of this must be part of a solid and measurable marketing strategy. By considering all these factors, you can make informed and efficient decisions for your clients' campaigns.

Yes, you should add keywords when setting up a new campaign for a client. Keywords are the foundation of any successful SEO campaign. They help your website rank higher in search results, which leads to more traffic and conversions.

When researching keywords, you should consider the following factors:

The intent of the searcher. What are they looking for when they search for your keyword? Are they looking for information, products, or services?
The competition for the keyword. How many other websites are ranking for the keyword? If there is a lot of competition, it will be more difficult to rank high.
The search volume for the keyword. How many people are searching for the keyword each month? A higher search volume means that there is more potential traffic for your website.
Once you have a list of relevant keywords, you can add them to your campaign. You can also use keyword research tools to help you find new keywords and to track your keyword rankings.

Here are some tips for adding keywords to your campaign:

Use a variety of keyword match types. There are three main keyword match types: broad, phrase, and exact. Broad match keywords will match any search query that contains the keyword, while phrase match keywords will only match search queries that contain the keyword in the specified order. Exact match keywords will only match search queries that are exactly the same as the keyword.
Use negative keywords. Negative keywords are words or phrases that you don't want your website to rank for. For example, if you sell shoes, you might want to add the negative keyword "free" so that your website doesn't show up for searches like "free shoes."
Use ad groups. Ad groups are a way to organize your keywords. Each ad group should contain a related set of keywords. This will help you to create more targeted ads and to track your results more effectively.
By following these tips, you can add keywords to your campaign that will help you to achieve your SEO goals.

@thepeterlunt Do at least some basic keyword research, later you can always change it when you have them more pinpointed. In the beginning I was mostly using the ones that I would use as searchterms. But even in English language if you have somebody from australia or from scotland they will use different english sentence structures even.

It took me 6 months to get a good list of keywords for my SEO

@thepeterlunt said in When setting up a new campaign for a client should I add keywords:

When setting up a new campaign in Moz and SEO, it is important to carefully consider the pre-filled keywords. These keywords may or may not be relevant to your campaign goals and may not accurately reflect the keywords that potential customers are using to search for your products or services.

It is always a good idea to conduct thorough keyword research to identify the most relevant and high-performing keywords for your campaign. This can help ensure that your campaign is targeting the right audience and generating the desired results.

If the pre-filled keywords are client-specific and not relevant to your campaign goals, it may be best to remove them and focus on building a more targeted list of keywords. On the other hand, if there are only a few poor-quality keywords, you may want to supplement them with additional high-quality keywords that are more likely to drive traffic and conversions.

                                        Hi Peter,

One additional point about adding keywords is if you add keywords during campaign creation, we will do a rush collection and return those ranking results within the hour.

If you add keywords after the campaign is created, the data for those keywords will not be collected until the next campaign update.

We hope that helps, let us know if you have further questions we can assist with.

                                              robots.txt crawl error

                                              I'm trying to setup a campaign for jessicamoraninteriors.com and I keep getting messages that Moz can't crawl the site because it can't access the robots.txt. Not sure why, other crawlers don't seem to have a problem and I can access the robots.txt file from my browser. For some additional info, it's a SquareSpace site and my DNS is handled through Cloudflare. Here's the contents of my robots.txt file: # Squarespace Robots Txt User-agent: GPTBot User-agent: ChatGPT-User User-agent: CCBot User-agent: anthropic-ai User-agent: Google-Extended User-agent: FacebookBot User-agent: Claude-Web User-agent: cohere-ai User-agent: PerplexityBot User-agent: Applebot-Extended User-agent: AdsBot-Google User-agent: AdsBot-Google-Mobile User-agent: AdsBot-Google-Mobile-Apps User-agent: * Disallow: /config Disallow: /search Disallow: /account$ Disallow: /account/ Disallow: /commerce/digital-download/ Disallow: /api/ Allow: /api/ui-extensions/ Disallow: /static/ Disallow:/*?author=* Disallow:/*&author=* Disallow:/*?tag=* Disallow:/*&tag=* Disallow:/*?month=* Disallow:/*&month=* Disallow:/*?view=* Disallow:/*&view=* Disallow:/*?format=json Disallow:/*&format=json Disallow:/*?format=page-context Disallow:/*&format=page-context Disallow:/*?format=main-content Disallow:/*&format=main-content Disallow:/*?format=json-pretty Disallow:/*&format=json-pretty Disallow:/*?format=ical Disallow:/*&format=ical Disallow:/*?reversePaginate=* Disallow:/*&reversePaginate=* Any ideas?

                                              Unsolved Website Traffic

                                              website traffic organic search

Greetings All. I'm working on a new business website for a client, and I've been accessing the site numerous times daily (troubleshooting, confirming changes, etc.). I've been using Google search to access the site, and I use a VPN so that my IP would be random. So I would presume that the site traffic should be increasing. But on the last Moz Pro crawl, the site traffic was still listed as 0.
Is there a minimum amount of traffic required before Moz recognizes it or is something else going on?
                                              Thank you.

                                              Unsolved Keyword List Download

                                              download keyword list csv

I'm just getting starting with MOZ Pro and I may be missing something simple. If MOZ says my site currently ranks for 9.1K keywords, is there a way I can download to CSV that 9.1K list? I have a MOZ Pro account, but haven't figured out how to do this. Thanks for the help!

I understand the concept of locations in Moz Pro Campaigns. What does National exactly means? Is it like globally for a United States Google Search Rank or what? Please explain.

How long does it usually take Moz to populate information for a new Web site?

We recently launched (9/13/2013) an e-commerce Website and added the campaign to SEO MOZ.  Week after week the Domain Rank is 1 and none of our keyword stats or link stats are populated.  We have another Moz campaign that posts weekly updates and is doing extremely well.  I'm just wondering how long it usually takes Moz to start populating all the analysis stats?  I'm also wondering if there might be a campaign setting buried somewhere that I need to enable or maybe it just takes more than 5 weeks?  Any insights would be much appreciated.  Here's the new URL we need to track with MOZ:  http://www.imsportshq.com
