Sorry for the delayed reply. Many thanks for your email and nice to hear someone who has thoughts like my own. We are going to do a combination of letting some pages 404, redirect some to categories and reuse those that rank well for similar products.

What do you do with product pages that are no longer used ? Delete/redirect to category/404 etc
We have a store with thousands of active items and thousands of sold items. Each product is unique so only one of each.
All products are pinned and pushed online ... and then they sell and we have a product page for a sold item.
All products are keyword researched and often can rank well for longtail keywords
Would you :-
1. delete the page and let it 404 (we will get thousands)
2. See if the page has a decent PA, incoming links and traffic and if so redirect to a RELEVANT category page ? ~(again there will be thousands)
3. Re use the page for another product - for example a sold ruby ring gets replaces with ta new ruby ring and we use that same page /url for the new item.

RE: Can improving page authority on all pages help overall domain auth?
HI Thomas,
Oh don't worry i am removing them to improve the site for many reasons not simply moz metrics.
I simply wondered if it would have an effect on this also.

Can improving page authority on all pages help overall domain auth?
Our website is made up of approx 4000 pages - some of which are old pages with a pa of 1.
I am removing these pages (ensuring they don't have links etc). Can removing so many low scoring and useless pages impact on domain authority.
Our DA jumped 4 points and i wondered if this was helping
Example
4000 pages in total
2500 have PA 1 - these get removed
will it look better for DA that overall there are now no pages where PA =1 and the site now contains higher PA pages only?

Site Crawl - MOz Pro
Hi There,
When i look into my site crawl i have thousands of duplicate content issues. Now they are essentially product pages which are in multiple categories - however we have added the canonical tag so im confused as to why all of these are appearing as if there is an error, does the MOZ bot not take canonicals into account?
Kind Regards

Domain Authority
Hi There,
I'm in a state of panic as my site has been progressing well however today I log into Moz and see the DA drop by 12 ! this has never occured and was increasing nicely over the last few months.
Does anyone know if there has been a global change that may be effecting my site. Or any issues with Moz DA tool?
Any help is greatly appreciated

RE: Duplicate Content
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to assist.
I have checked the internal and external links to the url and there aren't any, also checked sitemap and these links aren't present there.
Regarding https, it was switched on at one point for a matter of minutes as it was done in error.
Regarding the link you state we had issues with these in the past which were generated from an external site which we had no control over.
Im hitting blanks as to locating how these are being generated.
Can you tell me what screaming frog can show me that Moz and ahrefs software doesn't? I haven't used it before.

Duplicate Content
HI There,
Hoping someone can help me - before i damage my desk banging my head.
Getting notifications from ahrefs and Moz for duplicate content. I have no idea where these weird urls have came from , but they do take us to the correct page (but it seems a duplicate of this page).
correct url http://www.acsilver.co.uk/shop/pc/Antique-Vintage-Rings-c152.htm
Incorrect url http://www.acsilver.co.uk/shop/pc/vintage-Vintage-Rings- c152.htm
This is showing for most of our store categories
Desperate for help as to what could be causing these issues. I have a technical member of the ecommerce software go through the large sitemap files and they assured me it wasn't linked to the sitemap files.
