RE: Risks of moving a site back to an old domain
Hi Dmitrii - Thanks for taking the time to reply! What would you say are the very best tools/metrics for tracking backlink building efforts (except DA)?

RE: Risks of moving a site back to an old domain
Thank you!
What if MOZ doesn't measure DA for my site though, which metrics would you say are most important? Because I need a strong, tangible way to report on linkbuilding efforts.

Risks of moving a site back to an old domain
Hi
Nearly 2 years ago our site was moved from a .co.uk domain to .media. Because this TLD isn't supported for DA, it's hard to measure whether linkbuilding campaigns (for example) are having a positive effect. The old site has a DA of 38 (even after 2 years of inactivity) and the new one is 1, but the new one has better Trust and Citation flow, for example.
I'm now investigating whether it's worth moving back to .co.uk and I want to fully understand the risks involved. So far I know of the following potential risks:
- It's a lot of work so human error is a real risk
- Could create a redirect loop as the old site has 301 redirects in place to the new one
- It will take several months for metrics to recover
Any thoughts on more risks, how these challenges can be overcome etc will be welcome. Or do I just set fire to the lot and create a new site with yet another 301 redirect from the .media site?
What would you do?

RE: Is it better to delete old job pages on a recruitment site?
Thank you. This makes complete sense, some great recommendations for making the old pages have some on-going purpose.

Is it better to delete old job pages on a recruitment site?
My client (online recruitment) has over 1.5 million pages indexed, the majority of which are old job posts and listings since they began.
I wanted to know if it would be better to keep all of the pages, or advise my client to delete some of the archive as these pages will no longer be attracting traffic.

RE: How do I best segment tablets on Google Analytics
There is actually a Tablet segment now - (found this while I was searching for the same question)

RE: 301 or 302 - www.yoursite.com/uk/content
You can ask - but we don't know ... it was a "CMS thing" we aren't the developers on the site, it sparked an internal discussion and we were all basing our arguments on if you can't then can we fix the redirect (and then should we).

RE: 301 or 302 - www.yoursite.com/uk/content
Shame that link isn't actually too clear - came across that when researching it, but the argument from the team here is that then no value is passed to that new page....?

301 or 302 - www.yoursite.com/uk/content
If your website CMS forces you to redirect from the homepage should it be a 301 or 302
Example includes www.direct.gov.uk which 302's it
My view is that it should be a 302 in this instance and almost all others should be a 301 - the reason for this is that you want the www.direct.gov.uk to be the "primary" and one that is displayed in Google, whereas for anything else you want the URL of the location.
Yes I know that ideally you don't have any redirection at all...
This is an account for our company - due to the occasional daft and opinionated comment we might make which is typically written by me and not the opinion of the company - we might just not say too mcuh about who we are ...
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
