Hey guys, How much longer? Any longer and there will he no guarantee the information will be current with how fast our industry changes! haha Im just super excited to get my hands on them as I have bought the last two years dvds, due to the fact Mozcon is Long way from Australia.
Think more along the lines of a car dealership with a 'NEW' and "used car' department? would i be pushing it ? My question to you is how would the association be made between the pages and businesses if the new site was branded differently and had a new address and a unique non associated domain? The only way i can think is if they were interlinked, but many non associated sites are linked. Is this playing in a grey area? Thanks again
Thanks for your response, would it be deemed black hat to set up a new site specifically for the Google places listing if it had a strong geo location in the URL and was attached to a different address?
ie website Hillarysrestaurant.com.au (ie hillarys is the suburb) and i was to register Perthrestaurant.com.au and attach that to a different address as the restaurant takes up 3 blocks ie 6-10 so i run the real website as it always was on 6 and set up the new site as a push site/squeeze page on 10 and use it just for google local?
i really hope this makes sense. Thanks again for your help and SEO wisdom!
P.s its not a restaurant im just using this as an example.
Hi Guys,
Will creating a new Google places listing for a business have any effect their current position one spot for their major geo location keyword?
I.e restaurants perth - say they are ranking no 1 above all the places listings if they set up a places listing would they lose that position and merge with all the other places accounts?
Or would they have that listing as well as the places listing?
I have been advised it could be detrimental to set up the places account if this is the case does anyone know any ways around this issue as the business really needs a places page for google maps etc.
Appreciate some guidance
Thanks.

Hi SeattleorganicSEO, (sorry i didn't catch your name)
i don't think they would be responsible for many of those links, 4 of the domains we own and at least 5 other links i am responsible for.
In a nutshell, every month I get a 'Summary Of Your Rankings email', this email compares Initial Rankings to Current Rankings.
They show where I placed for the five initial keywords when we started and now where we are for those keywords and a whole bunch of other keywords that stem from those targeted ones. (which I know are really useless because I have checked the keyword volume tool to collate their worth. They have no search volume.
i am not doubting they are getting results as for these five keywords we are moving up through the ranks of google and approaching a first page spot.
I guess my main questions or concern is how can they be getting results if they are doing little or no link building?
The only onsite changes they have implemented are header and title tag updates.
I just don't want to be taken advantage of, as i stated earlier i am pretty new to the SEO game.
Also what do you think is fair for a monthly fee per site for SEO?
Appreciate any feedback moving forward.
Kind regards
Bodie
Hi Michael,
Updated and looking forward to your feedback.

Hi Guys,
I am relatively new to the SEO community and have what is hopefully a pretty quick and simple question?
I have recently outsourced some of my SEO campaigns to an Australian SEO group which were referred to me buy a friend, and i do not have the time to manage all sites SEO.
On pitch the SEO company said they had in excess of 7000 domains, and they would implement a massive back linking strategy for me anywhere upwards of 200 links a month and all legit.
Initially there were some basic header and title tag changes needed on the site, and I am now in month 4 of my campaign.
Looking forward to using SEOMOZ service and specifically Open Site Explorer, I entered my URL but to my disappointment I could only see 4 links and two I was responsible for.
I spoke to the SEO company who responded Open Site Explorer wasn't a good indication of back links and that a lot of their sites were not on the network because of the structure of their linking being only one way.
I would appreciate a second opinion (external of this company) on this because of my short time learning and dabbling with SEO.
On a side note thoroughly enjoying learning SEO and my journey as part of the SEOMOZ community.
Appreciate any feedback or responses I get.
Kind regards
Bodie
Thanks Gary, thanks for that i will have a look into the serps and perhaps try to match them up to a similiar style to that of http://broomeaccommodation.com.au as currently this site has the highest ranking our of all sites in our group, which i think can be attributed to this particular keyword ranking.
i just purchased Broomewa.com which is ranked 3rd for the Kewyword 'Broome' so hopefully if i link that to the site it might help with the ranking.
I could ask you guys a million differen questions right now but i wont keep you.
Really appreciate the help and feedback
cheers
