Yeah no kidding! I just noticed that on a search term where I previously ranked #1 that yourdomain.com now ranks above me for a term that has NOTHING to do with yourdomain.com which is a parking like page. Why that would show up on page one of google and my site gets kicked to #62 I have no idea!

Penguin Update Seems To Benefit Wikipedia Etc
I was updating product info on my site which was apparently hammered by Penguin. As I was updating I was "Googling" the products. I noticed that every single product I carry, Wikipedia held the #1 position in search results.
Anyone else noticing this? I previously held the number 1 position on 2 of my products but I was knocked down to 60+...

Penguin Update or URL Error - Rankings Tank
I just redid my site from Godaddy Quick Shopping Cart to Drupal. The site is much cleaner now. I transferred all the content.
Now my site dropped from being in the top ten on almost every key word we were targeting to 35+.
I "aliased" the urls so that they were the same as the Godaddy site. However when I look at our search results I notice that our URLs have extra wording at the end like this: ?categoryid=1 or some other number.
Could this be the reason that our rankings tanked? Previously on the godaddy site the results didnt show this.

RE: My site was hit by the Penguin Update, Now What?
Google is not looking at reconsideration submissions for the penguin update. I feel your pain. My site is about six month old and we were ranked in the top ten for 33 of our target keywords. Now we only have one in the top ten and the rest are all over 35... We don't have any of the spam stuff google listed... Not sure how to cope.

Google + Buttons
Is the following entirely correct? What would you add or subtract?:
Google+ is making its presence known in the Google search results. One of the main benefits of using Google+ for your business is that your Google+ posts are indexed in Google. The more you post, the more likely your content will show up in search results.
Things you can do today that will improve your visibility using Google+:
- Optimize your "About" page. Add keywords to your Google+ profile and links to your website using keywords as anchor text.
- Add links to your website, social networks, and blog in the "recommended links" section on Google+ page.
- Add a link (or icon) to your Google+ page on your website, blog, social networks, and your email signature.
- Add a +1 button to your website. The number of +1s a page gets will show up in the search results, even if a searcher is not logged into Google+.
- Announce your new Google+ page everywhere you communicate online, encouraging people to add your page to their circles. Your content will rank higher for specific keywords in search for those who have a connection to you on Google+.

RE: Does Server Speed Effect SEO Rankings?
Godaddy is touting their new 4gh servers and also a premium dns that guarantees 99.9 percent up time. Have you tested these?

RE: Does Server Speed Effect SEO Rankings?
Thanks for that site link... It says I have a B for page load speed but a D for Yslow grade? I am not sure what the difference between Yslow and page load are?

RE: What's your best hidden SEO secret?
My secret is to work at night and get into my zone. Really the trick for me is to turn my A.D.D. into a strength and jump from item to item to item. It is hard to relate to unless you have A.D.D. too. You are able to hyper-focus into a wide ranged tunnel vision. By the time I come out of it I have definitely made a mark on the web!

Does Server Speed Effect SEO Rankings?
I was told by a website developer that Google ranks sites higher if they are hosted on faster servers. Is this true? For example my site is currently limited because it is a Quick Shopping Cart site hosted by Godaddy. He said that if I hosted my research chemical site with a different company with faster servers I could get better ranking immediately. I linked to my site. I think it loads ok. However Godaddy probably isn't the fastest service around.
