Great advice...so in the coming months when we do expand it will be better to make the homepage more "general" and then create landing pages for our cities. Probably would not change the homepage under the "/city" ranks well for the keywords so that i can change the homepage. Thanks a lot.

RE: Small buisiness multiple cities
Its really no problem for me to create new landing pages for each city (www.mysite.com/city) but like i said...since i have a homepage thats geared toward a specific city, once that user goes there he or she will be thrown off by articles geared toward a different city and get either confused or think my website is all screwed up.
So what im really asking is if there a way to create code that knows when a users navigates to the site via a city, that the home page is automatically "www.mysite.com/city" for this person.

Small buisiness multiple cities
Say i have a website for a small business...but that business is expanding into neighboring areas. I still want to have it SEO optimized for keywords in the neighboring towns but I do not want to have to redo the whole website. Is there a way to do this without having google penalyze me for having duplicate content?
I mean i know i can create a landing page www.mysite/newtown but whos to say the reader wont click the logo and go to the home page and gets navigated to www.mysite.com and get confused because its not the same info or its talking about the original town the business started. I hope this makes sense...thanks for the help!
I see that craigslist uses the city.craigslist.com so im wondering if this is the answer??

RE: Multiple city network
Thanks for the point in the right direction..
Me and my business partner originally hired a company to take care of our technical aspects...and they wanted us to buy all these keyword rich domains and put a site on each...Luckily we have gotten rid of them but there ignorance still lives on and still costing me time and money...the problem is now I have a buddypress site a keyword targeted domain. I guess ill have to get it moved over and do it the right way, since we are just starting its better now then later!
Thanks again for the information, I appreciate it.

High PR backlinking blogs
I have a few high pr blogs all setup on different ip addresses. Should I optimize these blogs for my chosen keywords I want to use as backlinks to my "money site".
In other words if my keyword is "ice cream" and im sending links back to my money site with the anchor text "ice cream" and ice cream type keywords...wouldnt it be logical to make that blog optimized for ice cream as well? My thought is that google will find these links even more powerful if they come from a website that already appears to be ice cream related.
...man i want some ice cream now

RE: Website IP Location
It is my understanding that the ip wont really matter seo wise...the only thing that i would see essential here is the ".co.uk" instead of say a ".com"

Multiple city network
Im currently setting up a large network and my original thought was to target keywords via the city and then setting up a website with the domain name being that keyword. Now im thinking that in the long run thats going to be a massive pain in my ass. Im thinking what i should do is something along these lines...
any thoughts? Thanks for the help
