Is it really a ranking factor?

The frustrating part of this is that we're doing things the same across the board. Everything else flourishes, except this. Other keywords for this page are sex addiction help, sex addiction treatment, porn addiction, internet porn addiction, sex addiction symptoms.
I agree that the competition is tough. I think the algorithm changes since May of last year have been our demise. We used to be on page one!
Some more information...
I have attempted on more than one occasion to see who I am being beaten out by and try to mimic, which led to no changes. Then, I took a Whiteboard Friday cue and decided not to go with what other people have done. The 6 Types Model is something no one else talks about in this field and I thought that I had hit the 10x on the nose with it. But, again, nothing is moving.
The keywords on my page are moving up, except for one. I have routinely ranked between 13-15 for one particular keyword. I am aware that it is a broad term, however, at one point, I showed up on page one at #6, and then dropped right back down to where I was.
The website it "sexaddict.com" and, don't worry, it's for addicts so you won't find anything but help and resources there. The keyword is "sex addiction."
Thanks,
Ryan
I recently took an SEO certification course and I'm using Moz to check my work and stay on track. I'm learning SEO changes day to day, sometimes the hard way. I have a background in web design, CSS, as well as office management.
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
