Could pigeon have caused this
Hi We have a site Schoolguide.co.uk which list and ranks all the school within the UK. on the 25 of August it just dropped off the face of Google.co.uk for all the local search terms. Things like "Schools in kent" so on. Now we are having trouble figuring out why. It's been suggested it could be something to do with Google "pigeon" update.
Now I have been doing some reading up on it and it seem that with was more about cutting down the size of the local listings. Our site is a directory and does not have local listing as such (set up in Google places). Could this have been caused by "pigeon"? I would have thought it would have improved it? Is anyone else seeing these kind of changes?

RE: Ranking dropped off massively: 25 August
The ranking drop was in Google.co.uk. So Pigeon is possible, but it wasn't a small drop it's fell off the face of the earth.
The search terms we were looking at were localised though:
<colgroup><col width="246"></colgroup>
schools in low garth
schools in low hawsker
schools in low hutton
schools in low mill
schools in lower bebington
schools in maentwrog
schools in mallwyd
schools in manfield
schools in margrove park
schools in marlesford
schools in marsett
schools in masham
schools in methersgate
schools in minllyn
schools in nantlle
| schools in naughton |Averaging around 10 th. We are a directory so we didn't have Google local listing entries. Do you think it could be pigeon? The local page are often like this:

Ranking dropped off massively: 25 August
HI have been working on the site http://www.schoolguide.co.uk/ we had something odd happen around the 25 of August our ranking just tanked.
- Now there was no warning in webmaster tools.
- Moz weather forecast didn't show anything crazy.
- We didn't do anything major to site.
The site lost pretty much all it's long tail ranking and about 5% of the indexed pages. What could cause this? The only thing of prominence we did was get a link from huffington post article.
Thanks again everyone

RE: How does campaign manager pick up search terms
My concern is the keywords look like malware. I'm worried about a hack not tracking the wrong search terms. This is why I'm trying to find out how you came up with these.

How does campaign manager pick up search terms
Does anyone know how Moz campaign setup. I have set up a campaign and Moz has identified a number of spammy keywords which we cannot find on the site. Please see the image.
The site is datingreview.com
Thanks

RE: Multiple Internal links to same destinations
In theory it should pass more trust if you have multiple links: As mention in this article:
"Looking at the original PageRank paper, if you had two links from one page to another page, both links would flow PageRank," Cutts said. "The amount of PageRank gets divided evenly in the original paper between all the outgoing links, so it's the case that two links both go to the same page, then twice as much PageRank would go to that page." - Matt Cutts
However he also stresses that if you are thinking about this then you should take step back and look at other things.

Article linking to my post kicks it from the search results.
Hi I have been trying to get a article to rank on the term:
"help your child do well in school" in the Google UK. Now I was doing okay the article went from 43rd to 17th. Until I got mentioned in the huffington post. Then my result disappeared from the listings and the huffington appeared in 35th position.
The article I'm trying to rank is: http://www.schoolguide.co.uk/blog/10-proven-ways-to-help-your-child-do-well-at-school
The Huffington posts is: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/emilyjane-clark/five-things-that-will-not_b_5693827.html
It's really annoying because this is the type of link building I thought Google really wants. Does anyone know why this would happen and any suggestions of how to proceed?
