Just on this using a sub folder may be a better option.

RE: Changing URL to a subdomain?
Hi Mike,
I personally wouldn't use a subdomain for this. I would just separate my site out as it is under one URL. I don't like using subdomains and probably would try to avoid it, I have yet to read a success story when using them.
If you design your site well then I don't see why you cant host both under one domain, what was your reason for using them in the first place?
Good luck!

RE: What to do with thin Job-Posts with little information?
Hey Joao,
How long are these particular job posts up for? If they are not on there long enough, I would recommend no-indexing them as they are not going to be up for long.
If not is there no way you can add more content to the pages by requesting more information from the advertiser?

Feefo customer reviews for SEO
Hey Guys,
I'm not overly techy, but, I need to advise on Feefo integration. I have been reading and it seems that https://support.feefo.com/support/solutions/articles/8000042161-full-integration-javascript-on-page this is the best integration method.
Do you guys have any pointers with using Feefo?
Are we still good to use intermediaries like this to handle our reviews for us?
Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Questions in regard to putting 2-3 keywords in a title tag.
Hey!
why don't you write three pages? C being your number one page linking out to A and B? That way you are explaining the relationship of the services to the customer and to Google. Win win?

RE: Open Graph Meta Description...
Hi Paul,
We have a meta description which is quite generic and has a call to action highlighting the free shipping on our products pages, I guess Google doesnt think this is product specific enough. I will re-write and see what happens.
No Google is not pulling through my OG data - its just pulling through random pieces of the page, which don't really make sense. i.e. product ID, snippets of on page header info, etc. Almost like the custom meta isn't there at all.
Thanks for your help.

Open Graph Meta Description...
Does my html meta description tag have to be the same as my Open Graph meta description?
I'm having problems pulling through my meta description into Google SERPs and I wondered if its because my 'OG' data is not consistent?
Thanks Guys,

RE: The Keyword density in a landing page is very low . by adding meta keyword tag can improve keyword density?
Hiya,
I would write content for your reader and sign post well semantically. I would not worry too much about keyword density. Some studies recently published suggest that keyword density is not as helpful as it once was.
Personally I also don't see keyword tags to be a priority. None of the pages I have added keyword tags too have been impacted by me doing it.

Social in SERPS
Hi Guys,
I have seen a lot of page 1 SERP exposure for branded terms due to social links being listed directly underneath the web listing - mainly twitter! I know there was an update to include this in SERPs at the beginning of the year but how do I specify or submit these to Google so my social accounts can too also appear directly under my web page? Does anyone know?
Is there a code I need to implement on my site to pull these in?
Thanks!

'?q=:new&sort=new' URL parameters help...
Hey guys,
I have these types of URLs being crawled and picked up on by MOZ but they are not visible to my users. The URLs are all 'hidden' from users as they are basically category pages that have no stock, however MOZ is crawling them and I dont understand how they are getting picked up as 'duplicate content'. Anyone have any info on this?
http://www.example.ch/de/example/marken/brand/make-up/c/Cat_Perso_Brand_3?q=:new&sort=new
Even if I understood the technicality behind it then I could try and fix it if need be.
Thanks Guys

RE: Measure impact from new meta descriptions
Hey Chris,
I recently did the same thing, I looked at traffic from organic to the specific pages I changed the meta descriptions for. I did 20 for my top sellers and 20 for my slow sellers and watched for incremental increases YoY and WoW through GA. I did see increases although small, will impact my overall traffic in bulk - I have educated the rest of the business and now we write better meta descriptions.
Although your method seems sound and as Matt said ultimately you want to make sure you are converting those people too.
All the best,
K

RE: Only homepage is ranking after site re-launch
How did you migrate the sites across? Did you map all of your existing url's etc? More information would help.
If it were me I would look at the variances between sites already migrated with no problems and the one with problems, identify those and it may help you know where to look regarding the problem.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

RE: Href lang tag - do I need it?
Thanks Guys, that's helpful!
@Brooke when you have implemented the tags across the sites can you share if anything has noticeably changed? Would be interesting to know.
@Ariel why would Google present non-matching sitelinks? I don't understand why it would do that? There are posts on it that I could read?
@Gianluca regarding your recommendation '...use the hreflang only on URLs that are canonical and not in canonicalized one. Contemporary usage of hreflang and rel="canonical" is not recommended.' Do you have a publication about this that I could read so I can understand the principal of it a little better? Would really help me understand how Google 'thinks'.
Thanks all for your input! Much appreciated.

Href lang tag - do I need it?
Hey Guys!
I have a multi-lingual site in Switzerland serving french and german content.
URL structure looks like this:
homepage (main) http://www.exmaple.ch/
German http://www.exmaple.ch/de/
French http://www.exmaple.ch/fr/
You can choose a drop down on every page to convert the page into french or german. So there are basically two seperate sites, URL's do not cross over i.e. I have no french pages linking to german pages, it is all pretty good. The default language is german.
I have checked in Google.ch/ in both languages french and german for which pages are being served up and they seem all relevant, i.e. on french browser settings when I go to google.ch I see french pages being served and vice versa.
My question....Do I need href lang tags?
Cheers all!

Site migration 301's list on Apache server - when do I take the old migrated URLs off our 301 list?
Howdy!
The site was migrated last year to a new platform, therefore the URLs were migrated over using 301 redirect rules.
Since then, the server has a huuuuge list of rules for URLs and I wanted to know when can we start taking these off of the list? And, how can I test to see if they are still indexing, do I simply just add the url to the google search bar?
Thanks Guys!

RE: I just took over a site with 100k visits per month, where do I start?
This is a really good answer Patrick! Thanks for making it so structured!

RE: What is 'domain authority'?
I always see it as your online 'popularity score', based on various items such as off page (blogger outreach, online partners and PR) and on page SEO (engagement, behavioural, tech etc.)

RE: Heres a puzzle for you... Htags on left hand nav for ecomm category pages
Thanks Andy,
We currently dont have any H1 space on these category pages. What do you think I should do based on your experience? Recommend to get an H1 actually created for these pages?
Did you see the image of the screenshot?Cheers.

Meta robots or robot.txt file?
Hi Mozzers!
For parametric URL's would you recommend meta robot or robot.txt file?
For example: http://www.exmaple.com//category/product/cat no./quickView I want to stop indexing /quickView URLs.And what's the real difference between the two?
Thanks again!

Heres a puzzle for you... Htags on left hand nav for ecomm category pages
Hi Guys,
So I am back asking more questions, but I am slowly learning
This next one, I have looked everywhere and I can't get my head around h tags on ecomm sites. I have looked at competitors and non competitors and still am not sure which is the right or wrong thing to do, specifically in this instance, category pages. Our I.T. dept is somewhat under resourced and I don't want to waste their time with test and trial on this particular issue.
Category landing pages...
There are shed loads of category listing pages on our site, at the moment the h1 tag for each sub-category is listed in the end path of the breadcrumb, there is no other spaces on the page accept the left hand navigation.
Which is the better to use, breadcrumb or nav?
We would have to totally recode our left hand nav which is pretty set up for the whole site. The reason I ask this question to you is because an SEO agency recommended that we...
- Add the H1 to the left hand navigation and make it customisable so that it is not the same as the breadcrumb keywords. I have attached an image of a competitor of ours that so the same thing currently, to show what I mean...
Right now I am not sure what to tell the agency and what the right thing to do is. I read a post saying that we are actually doing the right thing under the circumstances. Does anyone have a best practise good example of generally what we should do for category pages?
Your help is always muchly appreciated
Kindest,
Kay

RE: 302 redirects, canonicalise or redirect (301)?
Thank you Ethan, Yes I will recommend a 301 redirect to the I.T. guys, but I do think that my I.T. guys wont like me much
Please can I ask - why would I need to create more content to canonicalise it if I already have two url's? Would I not just add code to both pages?
If the page 1 url exists and temp redirects it to the page 2 url, would I not just add code to both pages? Or if I add code to the page 1 url, would it be exactly the same to the other variations?
Please teach me this as I will need to explain it to the I.T. dept as this was there recommendations. I think I will most definitely need tech help moving forward!
Thanks a lot for your time!

RE: 302 redirects, canonicalise or redirect (301)?
Thanks Patrick,
This is indeed helpful. I have read these links; SO:
-
Redirects should be 301.
-
I need to add href lang tags (for google and bing) on my website and I need to look more into geo targeting in more detail.
- Do you recommend I need to find out why these urls are being created? and yes this has also crossed over with the duplicate content project we are running too. But 301's are a solution until I figure out why these url's are being created so we can get it fixed.
I will check the sitemap today.
Thanks for your advice

302 redirects, canonicalise or redirect (301)?
Hey Guys,
I am fairly new to 'technical' SEO as I was lucky enough in my old role to have technical expertise in the team for things like this, now I am learning myself and it is a slow and painful process, so your expertise is soooo much appreciated! My I.T. dept say that I have 3 instances on my website where the Hybris platform is creating a 302 redirect automatically - the first:
- URL doesn't exist - Hybris creates a temp 302 - the system does not create case sensitive url's
| http://www.example.fr/Example/Marques/0180/brand/CHANEL | URL doesn't exist | TRUE | 302 |
| http://www.example.fr/Example/Marques/0015/brand/Giorgio-Armani | URL doesn't exist | TRUE | 302 |
| http://www.example.fr/fr/Example/marken/0507/brand/lancome | URL doesn't exist | TRUE | 302 |I believe these are being redirected due to the fact that capital letters are being created in the url.
- Multi-lingual redirects
I have a German and French version of my site and whenever any switches from one URL to the other using our language selector a 302 is created.
- Dynamic URL elements
Dynamic url elements and special characters are being created in the URL, I am not sure where this is happening, but my I.T. department would like me to go and see whether this is something that can be created by a browser.
If anyone has any similar problems or have any advice or insights even, I would love to hear from you! Thanks

0 status codes
Hi,
I am hoping someone could help explain - I have a screaming frog account and ran a crawl using it, it returned a lot of 0 status codes 'connection timeout', 'DNS lookup failed' and 'Connection Refused'. However, the SEO MOZ Crawl doesn't detect any of this.
I am fairly new to these tools, do you know why this is?
Thanks a lot!
