International SEO strategy for an ecommerce with 3 languages.
Hi all, I've an ecommerce which ships worldwide and we maintain 3 languages, spanish, english and french. My main business is in Spain, so spanish will be shown in the root domain: http://domain.com/. English will have the /en/ subdomain and french the /fr/ subdomain. After some research, I've concluded that the best strategy for my business is the following. 1º- Translate all the URL's to the correct language, since now are in spanish. 2º- Implement Hreflang tag (with self-reference): Note: Due to the "universality" of english, Does it make sense? Or should I use spanish as default since it's the most important one. 3º- Create the 3 sites in Search Console and only geo targetting french sobdomain to France. Since I really want to boost in France rankings. Do you consider this as a contradiction with ? I could also target country in the hreflang. 4º- Add language tag in each language version: <meta name="language" content="spanish">in http://domain.com/</meta name="language"> <code class="broncode"><meta name="language" content="english">in http://domain.com/en/</meta name="language"></code> <code class="broncode"><meta name="language" content="french">in http://domain.com/fr/</meta name="language"></code> <code class="broncode">5º- Use canonical tag together with hreflang.</code> ``` Any opinion will be very appreciated. International SEO - Mixing country targeting and language targeting in GWT.
Hi all! I want to start with International SEO process for my ecommerce. We sell worldwide with a .com domain, although the business is mainly focused in Spain. We maintain three languages, spanish, english and french with a non suitable structure. Now, after read a lot about it, I'm considering to use subdirectories for each language, /es/, /en/ and /fr/. And heres it's my first doubt: Could I avoid /es/ from spanish language as it's the default one? I've understood from recents Q&A that it's not needed although more user friendly. I'm trying to avoid tons of 301 from old urls for my main language. Anyway I want to know the best approach regardless complexity. My second doubt is about country targeting. After some research, I consider that it'd be interesting target country for /fr/ subdomain but language for /en/. Do you see any problem mixing both strategies? I know I also need to add the hreflang tag to guide googlebot. But I prefer to clarify these points first. Thanks a lot! Best regards.

Universal Analytics Ecommerce data
Hi there, I have started to use Universal Analytics on my ecommerce site. I have implemented the code using Google Tag Manager. I don't see any ecommerce data on Universal Google Analytics under Conversions/Ecommerce. Can you please point me to the right direction? Also, can you please send me the best article on this topic? I want to know the bit of code that I have to add and all that UA can provide to get the most of my data for my ecommerce store. Thanks and regards

Different transaction data social channel on Google Analytics
Hi there, On my ecommerce, in order to find out the number of transactions that came directly from my social channels I go to Acquisition->Channels and then I look at the column Transactions for the Social channel. Surprisingly this number differ from the one that I find under Acquisition->Social->Overview and then I select Transaction under Conversions. Then I look at Last interaction Social Conversions to find the number of transactions. The two quantities are totally different for a month window and they should be the same. Can any of you explain to me the reason why? Thanks and regards

Tracking repeat buyers Universal Analytics
Hi there, I want to track the repeat buyers on my ecommerce. In order to do that, I am going to create a custom dimension on Analytics. The custom dimension will be called "repeat_buyers" with scope user because I want to track the user over time. Is my assumption correct? How would you you set it up? When I have this dimension, I would just apply the default metric transaction on my reports. I don't have experiencie on custom dimensions so I might be totally wrong. Can you please help? Landing pages report - Meaning of clics metric
Hi there, I am looking at the landing pages report on Google Analytics, I see 4 columns: Impressiones Clics Average position CTR Regarding the clics metric, this shouldn't be equal to the sessions of organic traffic that you get? In Adwords, a clic is a session. What I see is that clics are not sessions and I am a bit surprised of this. Why are they different in this report? Thanks and regards Thanks and regards

¿Seo issue with loading product images into an iframe?
Hi there, Recently, I modified the structure of my product page to load the images into an iframe, instead of using the img tag directly . The reason is because I wanteddd product videos(YouTube) to be shown in the same iframe. My question is: If the attributes of the images are correctly set, from a SEO perspective, Do you see any problem with that approach? I know Google bot wasn't very good crawling iframes in the past. Community inside the domain or in a separate domain
Hi there, I work for an ecommerce company as an online marketing consultant. They make kitchenware, microware and so on. The are reviewing their overall strategy and as such they want to build up a community. Ideally, they would want to have the community in a separate domain. This domain wouldn't have the logo of the brand. This community wouldn't promote the brand itself. The brand would post content occassionally and link the store domain. The reasoning of this approach is to not interfere in the way of the community users and also the fact that the branded traffic acquired doesn't end up buying at the store I like this approach but I am concerned because the brand is not that big to have two domains separated and lose all the authority associated with one strong domain. I would definitely have everything under the same domain, store and community, otherwise we would have to acquire traffic for two domains. 1. What do you think of both scenarios, one domain versus two? Which one is better? 2. Do you know any examples of ecommerce companies with successful communities within the store domain? Category pages ecommerce - SEO best practises
Hi there, I run an ecommerce company, www.footdistrict.com and we are trying to improve our rankings on head terms so we are optimizing our brand pages (ie http://footdistrict.com/marcas/nike.html) Note: a brand page is a category page on my store. We are adding descriptions of each category. This is great as we are adding value. On top of that, we want to add sub-categories just below the description. A sub-category is a family of items. The structure that we are trying to implement is: http://footdistrict.com/marcas/nike.html Nike History/Info of the brand Link Nike family of items A | Link Nike family of items B | Link Nike family of items C | Link Nike family of items C When you click on the first link of the left, you go to a page with all the products of that family and a title that matches the anchor of the category page. What do you think of this structure from a SEO perspective? How would you improve it? I see other ecommerce stores that use tabs or the internal search engine for these purposes. Ranking keyword ecommerce product
Hi guys, I run an ecommerce store footdistrict.com. We sell sneakers. My question relates to the name of some of my products and how to rank for them. This concerns to the shoes from New Balance The name of this products follows this format: New Balance XXNumberXXX . But actually I have realized I am ranking for New Balance XXNumber XXX . Note the space between the number and the last 3 characters. All my titles, h1, keywords follow this format. Example: New Balance WL574 RUP vs New Balance WL574RUP My questions are: 1. How would you determine which keyword to rank for: New Balance XXNumberXXX or New Balance XXNumber XXX? I have thought of using analytics data to see the pattern of the users search or maybe the difficulty of the keyword? I am receiving a decent amount of traffic for New Balance XXNumber XXX but I wonder if it'd be higher ranking for New Balance XXNumberXXX 2. Does the algorithmn take into account this space? According to the On page Grader, I have an A for New Balance XXNumber XXX and a F for New Balance XXNumber XXX but I assume the engine doesn't work this way 3. What would you do? Webmasters tools - Need to update every time you add a new product/page to an ecommerce
Hi guys, I run an ecommere store and we are constantly receiving and uploading new products. Do we need to update the sitemap every time we upload a product? Google Webmasters tools shows that the number of URLs received is higher than the number of indexed URLs. They should match right? Thanks and regards

Duplicated content in moz report due to Magento urls in a multiple language store.
Hi guys, Moz crawl is reporting as duplicated content the following urls in our store: http://footdistrict.com and http://footdistrict.com?___store=footdistrict_es The chain: ___store=footdistrict_es is added as you switch the language of the site. Both pages have the http://footdistrict.com" /> , but this was introduced some time after going live. I was wondering the best action to take considering the SEO side effects. For example: Permanent redirect from http://footdistrict.com?___store=footdistrict_es to http://footdistrict.com. -> Problem: If I'm surfing through english version and I switch to spanish, apache will realize that http://footdistrict.com?___store=footdistrict_es is going to be loaded and automatically it will redirect you to http:/footdistrict.com. So you will stay in spanish version for ever. Deleting the URLS with the store code from Google Web Admin tools. Problem: What about the juice? Adding those URL's to robots.txt. Problem: What about the juice? more options? Basically I'm trying to understand the best option to avoid these pages being indexed. Could you help here? Thanks a lot.

Magento and Analytics - Unique purchases tracking
Hi guys, My ecommerce site is on Magento and in order to integrate it with Google Analytics, I enter my GA account number on the Account Number field in the backend. What surprises me is that some purchases are not tracked at all. So for the month of may GA shows X unique purchases when Magento shows x+5. Can this occur because the customer leaves the site before the confirmation page is shown? Thanks. Regards

As such, all the content within it is repeated through all the pages What do you recommend me to remove this duplicate content? Hi there, I am trying to track an event, newsletter signup in this case, on my Magento store. I added onClick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Microconversion', 'Evento_Onclick', 'Sus_Newsletter']);" on subscribe.phtml Category: Microconversion Action: Evento_Onclick Label: Sus_Newsletter It doesn't work, it's does not track this event. When should we use Remove URLs feature on Google Webmasters Tool?
Hi there, I run an ecommerce website on Magento. We are no longer using a category. It actually does not appear on the menu: mydomain.com/category.html If this is the case, do you recommend to remove it through the Removal URL feature on GWT?
