I would not put a contact form on the homepage, maybe a link to the contact page.

RE: Does Mobile optimised site improve ranking and how to index it faster?
1. No, it doesn't affect your SERP. For some mobile browsers, Google will display a small phone icon near your webiste in the search results, to notify the users that your website is mobile-friendly.
2. There is no way, other than submitting maybe your website to mobile directories or resource websites.

RE: Should I link to competitors?
You can have 1-2 external links to your competitors, however, use only the official name of their websites as anchor text. Do not link site-wide, only from the homepage.
From my experience, this is the best practice.
It is up to you if you want to use dofollow or nofollow in the href.

Website structure question - linking to categories?
Hi there,
I have a video website (user uploaded clips) which are sorted into 75 categories.
Now, these categories have their own pages and 90% of the traffic comes from the category keywords.
All 75 categories are linked from the homepage (which is obvious, right?) AND from all video pages.
Now, my question is: from SEO point of view, it is OK to link to categories from the video pages, too?
I am in doubt here because:
1. I tend to think it is OK because I get a lot of traffic for the category keywords.
2. I tend to think that isn't OK because I get almost no traffic for the video pages.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

RE: 301 redirect via htaccess question
@Ben,
There are around 150 pages that have a match on the new site (categories like Self Improvement, Science etc), I can redirect these like:
redirect 301 /category1/ http://www.newdomain.com/category1/
...
...
But, if I do this, the rest of the pages won't have a redirect (there are like 500 various indexed query pages that don't have a mirror on the new domain).
So, let's say I redirect what it has a corespondent on the new domain, I redirect the homepage, about us, contact etc.
But... what will happen with the urls that don't have a mirror?
I was thinking to redirect everything except the 1:1 correspondents to the new website's homepage... is that a wise idea? Or maybe a 404 custom page would be more indicated?
Thanks.

301 redirect via htaccess question
So, I have www.sitea.com and www.siteb.com
I want to redirect SOME pages from www.sitea.com to www.siteb.com (example: www.sitea.com/plugins/wp/ to www.siteb/wp/ etc ) and the rest of any pages left, to the homepage of www.siteb.com.
It is something with conditions... any help, please?

Tags, categories or both?
There is so much debate regarding duplicate content, horror stories, losing visitors, being penalized, yada yada... that I am wandering if it's wise to use tags/categories on a WordPress blog.
I saw that all major blogs are using these structuring etiquettes and they are all dofollow and meta robots on index, follow.
What do you say? It is wise to use tags, categories or both? Should I nofollow them, noindex or follow and index? Or noindex follow?
Cheers and thx.

RE: 301 redirect usage
As Matt Cutts stated in this video it will not hurt at all your 301 readirects. Not the amount of the redirects is important (if done correctly).
Instead, they don't like redirects of redirects (A - B, B- C, C-D and so on).
Be sure so to make the redirects from your .htaccess, update the canonical URLs (if you use 'em), your internal BL and that's it.
Cheers.

301 redirect
I have 2 websites, lets call them Website A and Website B.
Website A is a commercial website, website B is a 7 years old blog.
Website B has many natural, high quality BL, including some from Nytimes, etc.
I want to integrate the blog (B) into the commercial website (A).
The idea behind this thought is to compress the two websites, it is easier to have everything in one place.
I will do this with 301 redirect via Webmaster tools, htaccess etc. The uRL structure will remain the same:
eg:
websiteB/post-title/ -> websiteA/post title
What will happen with my quality BLs? Is there any chance to be penalized by Google?
What will happen with the PR of the 2 sites?
Thanks.
