Rankings have been jumping across 3 of our websites since about 24 October. Is anyone seeing similar?
For example ... jumps from position 5 to 20 on one day, then back to 5 for 3 days and then back to 20 for a day
I'm trying to figure out if it's algorithm based or if my rank checker has gone mad. I can't replicate the same results if I search incognito or in a new browser, everything always looks stable in the SERPs if I do the search myself
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the services offered with web.com, particularly the local listings service of 525 local directory listings?
Have you had success with using their service like this or not?
Hopefully a yes or no answer to this one...
If I have a link pointing to my site as below, is the SEO value stripped away because of the query in the URL?

The above mentioned page also has the canonical tag: on it.
We have a client who's head office is based in Scotland but they want to rank for France related keywords for their chalets that are in France.
They only have chalets in France and will never have chalets anywhere else.
As a business they have always used their Scotland address when the brand is mentioned and their Scotland address is used in the site footer. But as they want to rank for France related terms and nothing for Scotland, I'm wondering if I should use their France address instead or in addition across their site footer, on social media channels and across the web where possible?
We've recently taken on a new client that has a very large Disavow file. I'm wondering if any good backlinks are being disavowed in the list and want to do an audit but wondered if there was a tool I could use that could give me some high level stats on each of the domains in the Disavow? Ideally, I'd love to be able to drop a list of domains into a tool that can tell me PR, DA, Spam Score, Citation Flow, Trust Flow in an exportable table. Does such a tool exist?
Yes, I took Laura's advice and all sorted now.
I'm working on a site that has 280 blog posts that have either been migrated from an old CMS site or created on the Dev version of the new WordPress site.
We've written 280 unique meta descriptions so they don't truncate but it there a quick way I can export the current H1s and then import them into Yoast so they are set as the Page Titles?
I've written unique Page Titles and meta descriptions for all the Service and Products page and just want a way to speed up the blog posts as their H1s are really good and what I would use as Page Titles anyway.
Any help, greatly appreciated!
One of this client's top keyword is "oak beams". They already rank well in the UK for other related terms like "reclaimed oak beams" at /reclaimed-oak-beams/ and "air dried oak beams" at /air-dried-oak-beams/
We have created a page at /oak-beams/ but this page ranks nowhere? Instead the reclaimed oak beams or air dried oak beams page ranks for the term "oak beams".
Any ideas why Google is swapping between those pages and not choosing the /oak-beams/ page?
A few notes are that the /oak-beams/ page is newest page on the site and yes I know there are no links pointing to it but there are no links pointing to the other pages either?
Does anyone have experience and advice on ranking a .com site in Switzerland and Saudi Arabia?
The site currently ranks well in the UK and Italy but they want to expand into Switzerland and Saudi Arabia.
Any advice or links to resources would be hugely appreciated and I'd also be interested in entering into a joint venture with someone to focus on those 2 countries while I focus on the others. Anyone interested?
Hopefully a quick Yes No answer to this one but if I site links to my site as follows: www.mysite.com/?gclid=CNuG0Kasfy7oCFfMbtAodZg4AIw
Is there value in that link still?
I have a client's site that was hacked in December and a whole bunch of spam pages were created. We've since removed those pages and they serve a 404 error now.
But I pick up a new link almost every day from a another spammy site linking back to the pages that were created.
I'm updating the Disavow as I see the new links reported in ahrefs but what else can I do to stop these buggers and how can I recover rankings other than building links and creating content
I have a site that wants to target the keywords listed below. They are a small company with just a few ski chalets in Val d'Isere, a ski resort in France. They don't have ski chalets in any other ski resort.
Val d'Isere chalets
luxury ski chalets
luxury ski chalets Val d'Isere
catered chalet Val d'Isere

Their domain name includes "valdisere" but I can't get this site onto Page 1, it keeps lingering on Page 2 and 3.
I wondered how you would approach this site with pages? Would you reply on the homepage to rank for all these terms or create seperate pages for the terms, and if so how would you group the terms per page?
Hi Dmitrii,
Any chance you can talk me through how to do a submission without review or can I drop you a line at Hyperlinks Media?
Thank you
Louise
If I analyse a domain with Moz Page Analysis tool, it says that the domain is hosted in the United States but if look up the same domain on who.is, the hosting location is Italy?

Has anyone had any recent success with creating a Wiki page? I created a page that has been in Draft for 8 weeks waiting for a Wiki Editor to review and approve it.
Perhaps someone here is has a more established Wiki account than mine and can help please?
PS: Yes, I know a Wiki page doesn't hold much SEO value but it has not been created for SEO purposes
I published some new landing pages about a month a go which are much better quality than previous pages and on an optimised URL. The old pages never ranked and the new pages aren't ranking either although they are much better.
The old pages 301 redirect to the new pages.
Any quick ways I can at least get them ranking? Not expecting Page 1 overnight but to at least see the new pages on Page 5 would be great!
Hi all,
I have a client who wants to rank for "personal trainer agency london"
They are a .com site with offices worldwide and they have 1 contact page per location.
I've been registering their UK address across Yell, Yelp, G+ etc but I wondered if that would be enough to get their rankings moving for the "london" related terms or should I be creating a landing page related to "personal trainer agency london" specifically? I don't feel comfortable doing it this way as it goes against what I believe is good SEO. They have other services they offer so I don't want to end up having to build a "london" related page for every service and then every location.
Surely I can make their Personal Trainers page rank for location terms?
Any thoughts HUGELY appreciated!
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a homepage to rank for a certain term, but the page keeps showing up in the SERPS with the "Brand Name: Keyword" when I have written it as "Keyword - Brand Name" in the <title>tag. I can't even see "Brand Name" Keyword" in the code of the page so I don't know where Google is pulling this from? </p> <p>I have <meta name="robots" content="noodp,noydir"/> on the page.</p> <p>I'm running Yoast and have removed the Brand from the Site Name and the Page Title for the homepage is "Keyword - Brand Name" in WordPress. I've changed the meta description so I can see the page has been crawled and re-indexed as the new meta description is showing in the SERPs</p> <p>Any idea, where Google is pulling this Page Title from and how I can get it changed to read the actual <title> tag? Or is there something I need to change in WordPress?</p> <p>Thank you!</p></title>
I'm looking at running a campaign to get a site ranking for terms that include "near me" so for instance, "personal trainers near me", "yoga lessons near me"
I'm wondering if this should be a local campaign because of the the "near me" in the term and Google basing results on IP addresses of the searcher (if that's possible possible instead of town names) or will it come down to words on the page including "near me"
Any help or examples would be hugely appreciated, thanks community!
Thank you so much Gianlucca! Lots to take away and get fixed.
Hi Folks, hoping someone can help me out please
I have a site that I'd like to rank in France and the UK but I'm getting a stack of duplicate content errors due to English and French pages and GBP and EUR prices.
Below is an example of how the home page is duplicated:

Each page has the following code in the that updates according to the page you are on:
How do I simplify this and what's the correct approach?
Can anyone share what they feel is the best strategy to follow for a single service site?
Would you optimise and target the homepage for the primary service they offer or target a page one level lower and leave the homepage to target the Brand name?
Links to any references or case studies would also be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Excellent, that reference is just what I needed, thank you!
I have a site that lists events and then removes them from the site once the date and event has passed.
Is it best to let the old event page 404 or 301 back up to a subfolder that lists the current events?
Thank you very much. What file would manage page by page or directory by directory redirects on an IIS server?
I'm working on a project where a site has gone through a rebrand and is therefore also moving to a new domain name. Some pages have been merged on the new site so it's not a lift and shift job and so I'm writing up a redirect plan.
Their IT dept have asked if we want redirects done by DNS redirect or IIS redirect. Which one will allow us to have redirects on a page level and not a domain level?
I think IIS may be the right route but would love your thoughts on this please.
QUESTION 1
I'm working on a site where a canonical link is implemented as
That's not the normal format that I am used to, as I would have written it as
Is that a problem?
QUESTION 2
Why do so many sites these days have a sitewide canonical tag which refers to itself as the canonical?
For example: http://www.site.co.uk/page has a canonical of
I have a client who has a site live at example**.co.uk** and would like to rank for the term "example". But example**.com** is owned by another company who offers a different product and service and has been live since 2003.
I know that I can make example**.co.uk** rank for keywords related to their service but I think it's going to be a struggle to get them to rank for the brand term "example" as the .com site already owns Page 1 with their domain name, Facebook page, Wiki page etc etc.
The only variation is that example**.com** is a US based company and my client want to ranks in the UK only.
What are the chances I can out rank example**.com** for the brand term on www.google.co.uk if example**.com** currently owns Page 1 on google**.co.uk**?
