There is over 3K articles on this site. I have done a 301 direct on the pages that are ranked but how do you 301 all urls? It can't be done can it?

For 5 years I have used the permalink custom structure: /%postname% without the end backslash. I didn't think the difference was that big of a deal, yet last month I was curious of what benefits would happen if I made the change. To my surprise my rankings took a slight dive, but recovered stronger than before. As the URL itself doesn't require a redirect the posts and pages loaded the same with or wothout the "/"

But now in Open Site Explorer, all my URL's have no page Authority. All the links i built were pointing to links without the backslash: example.com/post-name

Questions:

1. Did Google figure out the change, hence the dip in rankings and strong return?
2. Will keeping /%postname%/ even though many links are pointing to a non backslash URL comeback to haunt me?
3. Is there anything I can do to help lead Google to better see the changes I've made?

Actually. I tried to 301 direct http://gridironexperts.com/”/ to the home page and it didn't fix the 404's.

For the most part I have never had trouble tracking down 404's. Usually it's simply a broken link, but lately I have been getting these strange errors

1. What does; %C2%94 repersent?
2. The error always points to NFL.com, but we don't link to them...like ever?
3. Can I just 404: http://gridironexperts.com/”/   to fix the problem, as all 404's start with this weird %C2%94 error.
4. Is this error even on my site? Is in the backend...virus?

Hey CleverphD,

They're isn't a strong amount of traffic to sway any decision one direction to another at this point, but I'm sure this is the bread and butter of the site. Their programmer is going to hate me, but I agree there needs to be a way to optimize and like you say maximize the long tailed details.

So you think I pulling the title is the best route? maybe add a little content...I'm not overly confident that this guy knows how to create pretty SEO-friendly URLs using the data provided, but I'll try to explain why it's important.

I have a new client who has a Diablo 3 database. They have created a very interesting site in which every "build" is it's own URL. Every page is a list of weapons and gear for the gamer. The reader may love this but it's nightmare for SEO. I have pushed for a blog to help generate inbound links and traffic but overall I feel the main feature of their site is a headache to optimize.

They have thousands of pages index in google but none are really their own page. There is no strong content, H-Tags, or any real substance at all.

With a lack of definition for each page, Google see's this as a huge ball of mess, with duplicate Page Titles and too many onpage links.

The first thing I did was tell them to add a canonical link which seemed to drop the errors down 12K leaving only 2400 left...which is a nice start, but the remaining errors is still a challenge.

I'm thinking about seeing if I can either find a way to make each page it's own blurb, H Tag or simple have the Nav bar and all the links in the database Noindex. That way the site is left with only a handful of URLs + the Blog and Forum

I'm not sure how other hosting networks are set up, but I'm with Hostgator. I have a VPS level 5 which (I think) is like a mini personal server. I have 4 IP addresses, although it is a C block as each IP address is off by one number in the last digit of the address.

I have used 3 out of the 4 IP addresses I have been given. I have added my own sites (some high traffic, some start-ups) and I've hosted a few websites that I have designed from high paying customers. -one man show, design them, host them and SEO them

With the latest Penguin update, and with learning that linking between C Block sites is not a great idea, I have "No Followed" all of the footer links on client sites back to my portfolio site. I have also made sure that there are no links interlinking between any of my sites as I don't see them in the Site Explorer, and I figure if they aren't helping, they may be hurting the rankings of those keywords.

Ok, so...my question is:  "I have one IP address that I'm not using, and I have a popular high traffic site sharing it's IP with 5 other sites (all not related niches but high quality) Is it worth it to move the high traffic site to it's own IP address even though making the switch would take up to 48hrs for process to take affect?  -My site would be down for, at the most 2 days (1 and a half if I switch the IP's at night)

• Is this really worth the stress of losing readers?
• Will moving a site on an IP with 5 other sites help the rankings if it was to be on it's own IP?

There is very little interlinking between the sites but I was concerned too. I have read that Add-on sites are bad for SEO, but as long as you arent feature building crappy sites and linking them to your main site, should be fine.
