RE: Analytics: How to see how many uniques viewed over X amount of pages in period
Thanks again runnerkik,
I have added your custom report and tried to set up the advance segment, however, I appear to have something wrong as it is returning 0 data. Please take a look at the attached screenshot...

RE: Analytics: How to see how many uniques viewed over X amount of pages in period
Doesn't page depth only tell me the amount of pages viewed 'per visit'?
I want to find out how how many unique users have viewed over 10 pages in 1 month, not one visit.

RE: Analytics: How to see how many uniques viewed over X amount of pages in period
Hi runnerkik,
wow, thanks for taking the time to post this.
No they are not logged on. I want to know how many 'unique' users (as google describes unique) view more than 10 pages on my site in a month.

Cross domain tracking setup in Google Analytics
I really need help on this, I can't figure it out.
I need to track a few subdomains and and couple of seperate domains in one profile in Google Analytics.
So I have:
So the code I have placed on all of these domains is as following:
I have then set up seperate profiles which filter out the data by domain. E.g. for sub1.maindomain.co.uk, I have user the fitler:
Custom filter > Include > Filter Field = Hostname > Filter Pattern = sub1.maindomain.co.uk
For the www.anotherdomain.co.uk, I have used the same filter.
Now this all seems to be tracking visits and unique visitors okay, but I always have a very low pageview count, less than visits and sometimes zero. Could anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance mozzers.

RE: Why are some of page indexed and others not
I have search for the actual URL and it is not coming up in google.
I have submitted a site map including all URLs in WMT
Any similar pages that were there before have been 301'd

RE: Why are some of page indexed and others not
It is an old site that just has a new design and structure. There are lots of search terms for these pages. I just don't understand why page 6 of search results would be indexed when page 1, 2, 3... are not.
-
Why are some of page indexed and others not
I have created a site structure like this:
domain/for-sale/brand
domain/for-sale/brand-model
domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg1
domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg2
domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg3 etc....
I cannot understand why the domain/for-sale/brand-model does not seem to be indexed, yet the domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg6 is?
This is a new site, but I cannot understand why this URL would be indexed without the others...
Any ideas?
My home pages has links to the domain/for-sale/brand, this page has links to domain/for-sale/brand-model1, domain/for-sale/brand-model2 etc, each of these pages have links to domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg1, domain/for-sale/brand-model/pg2 etc...

Core audience, daily / weekly uniques
In Google analytics or site catalyst, is there anyway to target IP addresses to see how many of my daily uniques are daily, weekly, monthly and what % are just 'tourists'/'one-offs'?
My site is a local news site... Or is there another way to find this info. I am trying to work out what my core audience is (that keeps coming back every day or every week).
Kind regards

RE: How to allow googlebot past paywall
Thanks Mark,
I have been researching this idea from Google, but it is only for Google News and not Google Web Search.
Also, users would be able to jump the paywall by returning to Google News to search fro more links through to the site.

How to allow googlebot past paywall
Does anyone know of any ways or ideas to allow Google/Bing etc. to index your content, but have it behind a paywall for users?

RE: Good tools to compare site speed on different sites?
Thank you very much, this stuff is very helpful...

Good tools to compare site speed on different sites?
Google tells me that my site is slower than 81% of the internet. Now this is a very large news website, so I would like to compare this against other very large news websites.
Are there any tools that will be able to tell me the speed of a list of websites? I am looking for something a little more detailed than 'this site loaded in 1 second'.
Also, do any of you fellow SEOs know of any good tools to analyse what is causing your site to slow down?
Kind regards

RE: I am stumped on this one... SEOs Assemble! *blows seo horn*
Age
.co.uk - 5 years and 6 months
.com - 9 years 9 months
Age of back links - I do not know, I know that the .com has had professional white hat link builders employed for 3 years +
Size of sites:
.co.uk -1,230 indexed pages by google
.com - 539 indexed pages by google
Their site is updated as often as mine, but my homepage remains static for length periods. Their homepage has a 'lastest posts' section. This is the only fresh content on their homepage.
The rank higher for a number of keywords.
If you have time, I could send you the 2 urls on pm

I am stumped on this one... SEOs Assemble! *blows seo horn*
Hi guys,
I am having a little trouble with one of my sites. I am trying to rank for a particular keyword, which is the same as my domain name.
I have the keyword.com and my competitor has the keyword.co.uk
Please see the screenshot below to show our back link comparisions. I don't understand how the mozrank and moz trust are calculated as I am getting beat here.
They rank first in Google UK and I rank 10th.
Both of our sites are well seo'd by professional companies so I am baffled how, with this profile and a diverse set of anchor text links, I am getting beat.
I would really appreciate any help and advice on this guys...
Thank you

Google Analytics help - exporting reports
Hey mozzers,
A little help if you will.
I am in traffic sources > sources > search > organic
I am view keywords and comparing 1 month with another.
Now I see what 1 keyword sends 1st month, 2nd month and % Change.
I want to export this data to an .xls file. When I do, I end up with a file that shows what 1 keyword sends 1st month and 2nd month, but no % Change!
I really need to include this in exported document....
Summary: Analytics hates me.

RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
Worth a try, thanks!!
It will be far better when i have a full year of data
-
RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
webmaster tools kills me, I have to keep downloading the data every two weeks or so as they keep moving the history goal posts.
have never actually got round to trying to compare the data though
-
RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
Not just seasonality. Our brand name is our main keyword. So even though we have had a huge jump in traffic, a lot of people come directly to the site. So in Jan it looks like our SEO is doing worse than before. We infact we are now targeting/appearing/and getting clicks for hundreds more keywords than before.
-
RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
This shows just as much seasonality.
Our site is very busy in Jan for instance. 1 keyword term that we always rank number 1 for, from before I started and still today... returned 6,000 vistis in first two months, and only 2,000 in last two months. Even though this term is definately appearing top in all searches.
It is quite hard to show the impact of your work sometimes on a big website I find
-
RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
and guys, I am not trying to show total impressions, as I realised this in not accurate for what I want to show. What I am trying to show is how many impressions & click throughs we are getting from ceratin keywords, in comparison to the past.
-
RE: Impressions in Google Analytics
Looking at organic search traffic too.
Impressions are great for showing the difference from appearing on page 2 to appearing on page 1.
Is there anyway to compare over time, the percentage of overall traffic that a keyword has sent. So at the minute I can see a keyword, how many visits it has sent in a given time period and how many visits it sent in the compared time period. I see a percentage change - But this change does not take into account the seasonality of my searchers. I want to see a percentage change of visits from the keyword with regards to 'total visits'
(october 11th is when my impressions start)

Impressions in Google Analytics
I am trying to compare SERP impressions in Google Analtyics between two different time periods.
I want to compare the last two months, with the previous two months.
Now this works fine when I go to Traffic Sources > SEO > Queries.
Our analytics has been set up since early last year, so I cannot understand why, for a couple of weeks at the start of the previous two months, it is showing that I have less than 10 impressions per day, then in one day, it jumps to 22,000 impressions, and starts to show 'real' information after that...
Very frustrating when I am trying to show how effective my work has been.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

RE: Stars (Votes) in SERPS
So where do people vote?
Say I list hundreds of cars, do people vote if they like a car? What about in search results pages? do people vote there too?
Does anybody think this helps them in SERPs?
-
RE: Stars (Votes) in SERPS
ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... how do I change to English
Thanks for your answer!
-
Stars (Votes) in SERPS
Anyone seen these before?
Small stars representing 'votes'? What's all this about?

How to deal with tracking numbers in URLs
I am working on a site at the minute that has links like this:
Jobs in London
URL looks like: domain.com/jobs-in-london/
However, my developers insist that they need to use tracking codes, so everytime someone clicks on the above link, they are redirected (301) to a new URL that looks like:
domain.com/search/1234567(unique search id)
This is killing me when I am trying to get internal pages, like /jobs-in-london/ ranked.
What to do?

RE: SEO list for creating the *perfect* website
Okay, If using a developer to build a site from scratch, this is a list of considerations that I have got so far.
Site Architecture
Use keyword rich breadcrumbs
Internal Link structure
- Page Depth
- Quantity of Internal Links
- Quality of Internal links
- Index Canonicalization
XML Sitemaps
Page Optimisation
- Page Titles
- Meta Descriptions
- H1 Tags
- URLS
- Duplicate Content
- Robots.txt
- HTTP Status Codes
- Image alt attricbutes
- Textual Content
Anything else?
-
SEO list for creating the *perfect* website
If you could build your website from scratch and have your developers do anything you want (within reason), what list of SEO requirements would you send them?
Does anyone know of any good articles on the perfect SEO wish list?
Happy Holidays!

RE: 4XX links in SEOmoz

4XX links in SEOmoz
My campaign is showing me that I have 7 4XX errors. Is there anyway to see where these pages are linked from in order to remove the links?

RE: Pages Crawled: 250 | Limit: 250
So it will crawl the full 10,000 pages eventually?
-
Pages Crawled: 250 | Limit: 250
One of my campaigns says: Pages Crawled: 250 | Limit: 250
Is this because it's new and the limit will go up to 10,000 after the crawl is complete?
I have a pro account, 4 other campaigns running and should be allowed 50,000 pages in total
