I'm trying to rank for several specific words in my industry. I've noticed that many of the pages I'm trying to rank for the specific words, the main image of the page is being ranked. So my question is should I still try to rank my page even though the image is ranking as the first image displayed in the google results. Will this count against me by Google if I do? Or should I try to make the image being ranked more enticing for google searchers to try to increase traffic? Right now the images are not generating many clicks.

Just noticed a huge spike on one of our How To articles and found that a Lifehacker article used our article as a reference and linked back to it. Is there anything I can to to maximize the link juice from this backlink?

I've tried to search this topic on Google and here but I'm flooded with old content from Google on how to use the diagnostic tool. Did they remove this from Google Webmaster Tools?

The first question is pretty self explanatory. If I do need my keyword I'm trying to rank for in my link example: Looking for a cool skateboard (cool skateboard) is my keyword. Can anyone on here help me come up with some creative ways for me to get folks to post backlinks to my site with that key word in it? Unfortunately my sites url does not have the keyword in my domain.

I've had my MOZ account for a while and have just dealt with this issue for a while now but it is really getting annyoing. My Google Analytics account will not stay connected. Eveery time I refresh a page or click to a different page, I get a notification that reads "Our connection to your Google Analytics account was lost. Don't worry, you won't lose any data. Please reauthorize now." I click the link to reauthorize and it says it was successful, But then as soon as I refresh the page or click to a new page withing Moz Pro, the message appears again. I've tried the fixes listed in all the other questions about this issue Follow this link https://accounts.google.com/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens. This page displays the current OAuth tokens you are using. Once you reach the page, simply press the revoke button (illustrated on this screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/vjh3KrjRRIe) for services that you are not using right now, as well as your current Moz token. Once you are done with that, simply go back to your campaign settings, disconnect your GA profile and reconnect (I recommend you use a fresh incognito window). And they do not work. Please help me solve this very annyoing issue!

Today I looked at site explorer and found over 1100 linking root domains and over 750 linking c-blocks. My site was hovering around 200 linking root domains and 150 linking c-blocks. I have not paid anyone to link to my site...  Is this one of my competitors trying to create negative seo for a specific key word? I've worked very hard to never try to build links and only get links naturally by providing good content that people would want to link to. Can all hundreds of new links hurt me? I'm in a bind, I've been working on my SEO for a while now and have finally landed on the top page for [fishing kayak reviews] in Google US. The problem is it's not the page I want to be ranked! I've recently updated my reviews component to a more robust system but the url is slightly different. Looking currently [Reviews without Images] http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-reviews is ranking in Google but I would like [Reviews with Images]  http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-review to rank instead. What would be the best solution for this problem? Adjust the url for [Reviews with Images] so it take the place of [Reviews without Images]? Do you think I will get any negative impacts from this?

I've been having issues ranking for the key word kayak fishing. At one point a few months ago I managed to get my site www.yakangler.com to page 2 but have since fallen back to page 20+. I thought it was because of keyword stuffing or over optimization so I made some tweaks to my home page and started to see a small daily rise but stopped at page 19. I have since slipped back to the top of page 24...  What am I doing wrong? I don't employ any blackhat linking, I know I have some W3C validation errors on my home page "many caused by the facebook like button". Any ideas on how to improve my SERPS would be greatly appreciated. The most frustrating thing is comparing my site to the top Google searches for that key word...  I should be doing fine definitely not page 24! Much gratitude in advance for any help you can offer!

I've been trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" for my site www.yakangler.com.  Last year when I started working on the SEO for my site I was on page 30 for Google search results so like the 300th result. After tweaking things on my site I managed to get to the second page but have since fallen all the way back to page 25-26 in the search results. I'm wondering if I'm penalized for this key word. I can't figure out why my site is ranking soooo badly for "kayak fishing" Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've worked extremely hard re-ranking for the key word "kayak fishing" after our site migration and panda/penguin our site www.yakangler.com was lost in the doldrums. I couldn't find us on any of the results page 1 thru page 64. The good news is we have managed to make it to page 3 for the past month but I feel like we have hit a wall. I can't seem to get any more moment in my SERP for "kayak fishing" Google US. Anyone have any recommendations on what I should do to move us up more? I run a Joomla site and have noticed users having a hard time finding what they are looking for. The default Joomla search is lacking and the latest Joomla search component I added is better but still not great. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for on SeoMoz, do you guys use Google Site Search?

If your using the default Joomla weblink component do the links you add to others sites count as backlinks to those sites? example: http://www.yakangler.com/helpful-links/26-fishing-blogs-sites

I've been using SEOMOZ for several months now. I've been working on cleaning up my onpage SEO for a while now. I have much less errors then my competition and my competitive link analysis is better than the #1 and the same as the #2 google result for "Kayak Fishing" in Google US. In an effort to clean up my url's I'm trying to shorten them by using a 301 redirect in my .htaccess file. I designed the structure of my website way before I even thought about SEO. I run a website that requires me to categorize articles is somewhat deep nested categories so an example url would be as follows http://www.yakangler.com/articles/news/new-products/boats/item/1442-jackson-kayak-launches-the-big-tuna Would you shorten the url to somethign like this? http://www.yakangler.com/a/n/np/b/item/1442-jackson-kayak-launches-the-big-tuna If so how would you manage the redirects I'm unsure how to add a 301 redirect in my .htaccess file that wouldn't require me to add one for every single article. Could I do it with a rule that recognizes only the middle part of the url and redirect it accordingly? Thanks for any advice you might have!

kayaks for fishing But I'm worried I'm missing the point, I don't see hardly any traffic from most of these. I've really tried to rank for "kayak fishing" but seem to be totally lost in the Google Panda abyss. Any advice on a different word or strategy would be greatly appreciated!

I've been working for a couple of months not to try and get my site optimized for the key word "kayak fishing". I haven't done any black hat linking or anything and my site had disappeared passed page 76 on Google United States...  Did I over optimize things? I've been with seomoz for a couple of months now. I've been working hard trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" on my site yakangler.com. My onpage report for my home page is an A, my moztrust rank is higher than my competitors. I don't have the most links but I don't have the fewest either. Why am I ranking so horribly. Last I checked I wasn't on the first 50 pages for Google search. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've been with SEO Moz for over a month and a half. Why would this weeks crawl have Pages Crawled: 0? I've made no changes since the crawl last week that had 10k pages crawled...

After reading the article http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012 I decided to do some investigating to see if I to have suffered from link penalties. After using site explorer I found a ton of over optimized unnatural links from jnjbtw.com and other pharmacy sites. See screen shot: My site is a website about kayak fishing we clearly have nothing to do with pharmacy, doctors or drugs. I know similar questions have been asked before about spam sites linking to you and if they affect you or not but this is about how overly optimized the links that are going to my site are.  Would this flag penguin to add a penalty to my website?  Any idea how jnjbtw.com has all these links to my site were they hacked?

A while ago my site had a pharmacy hack done to it and created a ton of spam links. I've since fixed the issues on my site but I'm still showing links from their sites. Can I get rid of them?
