Yes, this is what I was thinking. I guess I'll just let the old WMT account for product.com just deactivate itself once it notices that validation file is no longer there.... Just feels a bit weird "not telling Google what we've done" through WMT....

WMT Change of address when moving to subdir
A client is moving their site that has had its own domain for years to their main domain under a subdir. So, product.com is going to brand.com/product with all pages and paths staying the same, no content is being removed.
We have 301 the old domain to brand.com/product however, should we also submit a change of address in Google's WMT? The reason I ask is because the site wont be located at brand.com but at brand.com/product and do not want to confuse Google, as the 301 redirects will not match the change of address exactly.

RE: Struggling to re-rank website
Thanks Oleg. Much appreciated.
Will take a deeper look into the anchor profile.

RE: Can Googlebot read the content on our homepage?
Hi Dana,
We would normally check through something like Website Auditor... I've run the tool on our home page and it seems to be missing some parts of our content, not sure why. Never had an issue before though with other tools, so would put it down to this tool....
Hope that helps.

Struggling to re-rank website
A client of ours - www.helenbattphotography.com - was ranking well for local keywords. However, the rankings started to drop as of January this year (slowly) and quite considerably since May. We have not had any Google penalties.
To date we have gone through backlinks and removed a few low quality/dubious links that were built around 5 years ago by another agency the client was using and also disavowed some others. This was done around 2 months ago. No impact to date. The website is hovering around page 4 and 5 for the keywords that it used to rank for on page 1 for.
We are really struggling to increase the rankings for this client. We have introduced good, unqiue content to the site - not that this was ever really a problem on the site - but this has also made little difference.
Would be great to get some feedback on the site and any obvious pointers that we might be missing here - a case of not being able to see the wood through the trees.
Thanks
