Hi James,
You are saying do not add to it more than 4 times, but what if they appear every single day.
Here is my 50 cents to fighting this problem. In addition to google disavow tool, do the same for Bing through Bing webmaster disavow tool.
Yes, they say don't worry, but in our case many bad domains shows up in google website link profile, so it looks like they get through their algorithms and need to be disavow manually.
We are in the same boat; one of our website has been hit with negative SEO for at least last 6 month. Every week we have been getting links from bad domains(we use ahrefs to identify them), all kinds… some even disturbing. They link to home page, specific landing page or some link to images. We are currently having almost 1000 bad domains in google disavow tool.
One of our sites shows thousands of 301 redirects due to domain without www in Bing Webmaster under crawl Information page. It’s been like this for a long time. None of the internal pages have domain without www, it was tested through Screaming Frog. We do have www preference set in google webmaster, but unfortunately bing doesn’t have this option. We also specify URL with www preference through structural data, but that still doesn’t help. Did anyone have similar problems with Bing, and how did you resolve it?
It's been 301 all the time (at least few years), we have rewrite if doesn't match the domain pattern. That subdomain only shows up in the DNS records.
I would recommend to have structured data for each individual listing. Try to structure as much information as possible and this should help the search engine and your SEO.
We noticed that some of our results on google for the blog are also come up with subdomain that is not linked from anywhere on the website.
For example:
SUBDOMAIN1.website.com/blog/content.html -> it redirects to website.com/blog/content.html
SUBDOMAIN1 is not linked anywhere on the website.
How did the google find it in the first place?
Why does it still keep it in the search results?
How do you get rid of it?
