Moz Q&A is closed.
After more than 13 years, and tens of thousands of questions, Moz Q&A closed on 12th December 2024. Whilst we’re not completely removing the content - many posts will still be possible to view - we have locked both new posts and new replies. More details here.
I started to mess around with web stuff back in 1997 - odd. Those days i was a mere 17 so anything commercial was unheard of. It was for the pleasure of exploring this new strange thing called HTML - making text in notepad appear in a browser in some kind of layout. Yes i remember sticking my first animated .gif into a webpage with vocal thoughts along the lines of: "woow this is like way cool im really getting the hang of this!" and finding out with much pride what HTML actually stands for!
Much has changed since! I have never got to heavily involved in the actual web coding but i know my way around well enough to sort out problems, make the right suggestion and not get the run around from a would-be developer. I am not much of an academic in the sense of institutionalised teaching. I did not finish school, I finished one course which was an IT diploma where i finished second in my year. After this diploma I had a year stint where i developed plugins for Great Plains (Microsoft ERP system). I started studying again after this year hoping to up my game with a Business Degree. 3 quarter way through first year i, as i always did, got board of the material and decided to start a business rather then learn about how to start one.
So the travel company was born in 2003. It is a South African accommodation booking agent and tour operator etc... In the 3 years of breaking into the tourism industry i started my second business which is a web development, hosting, design and budding online marking company. I had been freelancing but made it official March 2007. It has already superseded the travel venture! At the travel company there are 4 of us and Web company there are currently, also, 4.
Outside of work: Want to drop out and travel bare foot, dreams of opening a pizzeria beach front ;) - but I keep working online! arrrg, want to work in the biggest city i can find - NY London Tokyo - but South Africa business keeps me from it, bookworm, Kung Fu - Martial Art for the Art, born in Germany moved to S.A when i was 10 my family is now based in Tanzania and Zanzibar, of all places, so if you going that side let me know! and my close friends are like family!
All the best - Sascha
