Appreciate the link. Wondering if you know anything about the code used to redirect all of it in your htcaccess file? I'm glad to hear I don't need to create a hundred redirects, but do want to make sure I am using the correct apache code to do for all.

I am about to switch my website from http to https. I am wondering if I need to create a 301 redirect of every single page on my site, from the http address to the https url? Or if setting one master that redirects all traffic to the https version. Obviously I am concerned about losing rankings by switching.

Thanks, I agree it can be good for the user, in our case it shows the high calibre of clients we work with, which in turn makes us look good and is completely relevant.

We're a service company, so we don't write blogs at this point. But just having a page explaining projects we've worked on with links to the clients it what works I think.

What you're saying makes sense with regards to articles and linking, but neither of our sites are blog based websites.

Just curious as to any relevancy to linking to external sites.

I am having a hard time understanding why a compeitor with less linking domains and none of any real quality, they're all membership sites or partnerships, nothing to relevant to the industry. While we have links and articles on us from multiple magazines in our industry. As well as to relevant directories with high domain ranks.

The only thing I noticed is they're linking to their clients website, which are all high authority websites.

So do external links count towards your MozTrust or Rank?

First thing I would ask is, are you using everything you can to optimize the page that is currently offered? Did you upload pictures, video's, research the correct categories to place your page, and as claim the location?

Without knowing what your industry is, it's hard to say.

Thanks for the responses. I find it very frustrating that it acts the way it does. Makes it very difficult to explain to the bosses and to give the data any real value. Though I understand the challenges of it all.

Which is why I usually just talk about rankings, if we're beating our competitors in the rankings, then really who cares if they are supposedly beating us in domain authority and such other factors.

What I mean by this is, a link to my site shows up in the August mozscape crawl, then the next month it doesn't, but its still an active link on the website.

Once a site is crawled, shouldn't it always be there from now on?

Thanks for your response! I would assume the 301 are setup correctly if Google is indexing them and of course they work when I test them.

Though I don't understand why you'd submit a sitemap with the old urls? How do you ping it?

Any thoughts on the Page Authority?

Hello,

I recently changed our websites url structures removing the .html at the end. I had about 55 301's setup from the old url to the new. Within a day all the new URL's were listed in Google, but the old .html ones still have not been removed a week later.

Is there something I am missing? Or will it just take time for them to get de-indexed?

As well, so far the Page Authority hasn't transfered from the old pages to the new, is this typical?

I have the same problem. I know my site is linked on a bunch more sites, but every month they don't show up in OSE and I just don't get why. Does OSE only grab a certain amount of the web? And if links to your site arn't in that percentage they just don't show up.
