Thanks for your help. The problem seems to be fixed by doing the following:

• Restore backup
• Change all relevant passwords
• Fetch and crawl all affected pages
• Get malicious URL's on our domain in Google's index removed from Google's index

We've been suffering from some very nasty black hat seo. In Google's index, our pages show external links to various pharmaceutical websites, but our actual live pages don't show them. It seems as though only certain user-agents see the malicious links. Setting up Screaming Frog SEO crawler using the Googlebot user agent also sees the malicious links.

Any idea what could have caused this or how this can be stopped? We scanned all files on our webserver and couldn't find any of malicious links. We've changed our FTP and CMS passwords, is there anything else we can do?

Great questions, to answer them:

1. Yes, you should try to change your backlinks to match your HTTPS adress but don't sweat it if you can't change all backlinks.

2. Try to avoid 301 redirecting internal links. There are many great guides to do HTTPS migrations in Wordpress and doing complete rewrites from HTTP to HTTPS.

3. It might affect your rankings short-term, but that's not necessarily the case. We've enables HTTPS on multiple websites without any noticeable drop. Be sure to check out these great guides to help you out:

I am fixing some broken links and I was wondering if someone could help me out.

Multiple old domains (www.olddomain1.com, www.olddomain2.com and so on) have been migrated to www.currentdomain.com/olddomain1 and www.currentdomain.com/olddomain2 over a year ago. The old domains redirect to the current domain but we found that a lot of those were redirecting to 404 pages at the current domain. We now redirected all URL’s that were on the old domains correctly. Will those redirects ever get indexed (and passing linkjuice) since the old domains haven’t been used for such a long time? If not, would it be a good idea to redirect the 404 pages on the current domain (that were a result of the previous redirects)?

A client implemented dynamic number insertion using PHP to display a different number, based on the traffic source (organic, paid, direct and so on). This effects every displayed phone number on the website which leads to inconsistencies across the web, Gmybusiness and listings.

My best best would be to use JavaScript for the number insertion instead, add a

<noscript>using the "real" number and add JSON code with the correct NAP details.</p> <p>Is this correct or is there another way, a better way?</p> <p>Thanks in advance!</p></noscript>

I'll look into using the reviews in other ways, there's hundreds of them so it would be a shame to not use them to the fullest.

Is it possible to enable rich snippets for reviews that are not visible on the page in question? A restaurant's Wordpress website mentions the average rating but the actual customer feedback and reviews are displayed on a page on the website of the feedback company. Would it be enough to implement a small widget (displays star rating, number of reviews and links to the review page) and add microdata/J-SON to convince search engines that the reviews are legit?

This is the scenario:

A webstore has evolved into 7 sites in 3 shops:

• example.com/northamerica
• example.de/europe
• example.de/europe/en
• example.de/europe/fr
• example.de/europe/es
• example.de/europe /it
• example.com.au

.com/northamerica .de/europe/en and .com.au all have mostly the same content on them (all 3 are in english). What would be the best way to avoid duplicate content?
