I've read up on the subject but am new at this so I thought I would just put forth a simple question. We want our home page to be referred to as www.domain.com. We want the search engines to find and return this URl in search results. But the page has to have a name and the actual name is NOT to www.domain.com/index.html. This, I believe is what can cause duplicate cotnent issues (not really duplicate but perceived by the serach engines as duplicate content). Is it best to insert http://www.domain.com/" /> in the HEAD section of the index.html page or am I totally misunderstanding this concept?

Google SEVERE drop as of last week (oct 10) on long standing .org site
Hello Experts
Wanted some imput if possible.
I own a .org informational site that has been #1 in its category for Google Yahoo and Bing under a major keyword for years. The site is aged back to 2005 and all of the sudden it dropped on August 10 (Google only- Yahoo and Bing still #1)) but remained atop the primary keywords that it is namesaked for .org (xxxxyyyzzz.org) and then Oct 9-10 it dropped from the page 1 top ranking it had for years on that primary keyword to page 13. I dont know where to begin to look. Any ideas how something like this could happen and what "Stones" I should turn.
We purchased the website and are not SEO gurus so just not sure. Any help would be appreciated

High ranked web site on Google GONE - but webspam team says nothing wrong
We purchased several weeks ago a .org blog that has been highly ranked (number 1 on competetive keywords) for at least a year.
it is a blog
We moved the blog to our IP range and it went from #1 on top keyword and first page on another to the home page just gone.
Now there was a secondary page indexed that stayed on page 5 for the keyword the home page was ranked #1 but the home page (which was high ranked page is just gone)
We wrote the Google Webmaster team for reconsideration but they wrote back and said the web spam team said nothing wrong.
A contact of mine who works for one of the most well known SEO compaines in the world says because we moved it the site could disappear for a week or so but the "algos would realize" and return it to that top spot soon.
Does anyone know anything about moving a site to new IP and issues that can result?

RE: Someone COPIED my entire site on Google- what should I do?
Actually I could care less about the use of the content but I am worried about google thinking we copied the content and removing our site.
Purchased from kids in Usbeq anyway so no contract would help.
So that is my worry- can we be penalized if Google does not realized who copied from who?

Someone COPIED my entire site on Google- what should I do?
I purchased a very high ranked and old site a year or so ago. Now it appears that the people I purchased from completely copied the site all graphics and content.
They have now built that site up high in rankings and I dont want it to compromise my site.
These sites look like mirror images of each other
What can I do?
