My main interests are technology, flying and reading. I have been deeply involved in technology since my childhood. When I was a young boy (around 9 or 10) my parents signed me up for an electronics of the month club, where they sent out projects monthly. That got me started early into electronics. My father was a pilot at the time also and sold various aviation products and Avionics equipment. He sold flight simulators for awhile and I spent a lot of time with a demo one at home. Then when I was 8, I flew a V-tail Bonanza, as the first real plane I was at the controls of. I flew by instruments as I could not see over the unstrument panel. Having used the simulator a lot it was fairly easy for me. I had already spent a lot of time flying to variuous places with my father also, as it was.
As I grew older I got more involved in electronics/ technology and flying. I went into Avionics as a career, getting my formal training in the Air Force. I worked in the Avionics field for a little over 20 years, between Air Force and civilian. I specialized in Autopilots so that gave me the added benefit of getting to fly all sorts of aircraft, from single engine puddle jumpers, to multi-engine prop/ turbo-prop and corporate jets. I had also taken flying lessons in my teens and was considered a natural pilot, which I attributed to basically growing up in aviation.
I was also trained and involved in other technology fields, such as satellite systems. I was trained in installation and maintenance of the systems, including factory training at Uniden and being a factory authorized service center, for their receicers, LNA's and related components. At the time, I was one of only 2 authorized Uniden Warranty Centers in the country. I was also involved in building, modifying and maintaining, IMTS mobile phones. We took Uniden under dash radios and converted them into the mobile phones and also converted Pace full duplex units, into full duplex phones. That was just at the beginning of the cell phone era, so it was short lived from that point.
Now I am disabled and dealing with major medical problems, which prevent me from being able to work. To keep my mind active and occupied, I immersed myself into computers and computer technology. I also am into web development, webste building/ maintenance, custom mods and coding. All this keeps my mind active and gives me something to do. So if you were to sum up the whole of me, it would be: technology/ electronics technician, Aviation/ pilot/ Avionics tech (Autopilot specialist), computers and related technology. Basically I get into any kind of technology/ electronics/ aviation/ flying (including R/C aircraft). My favorite entertainment is Science Fiction, I enjoy reading, watching, surfing online and basicaly getting SciFi any way I can. I also greatly enjoy reading books and learning new information as much as I can, about anything.
