Sorry to trouble you again. I'm gradually working through your suggestions, I'm keen to get to back to where i was and beyond, but don't want to try to many changes at once. Realistically what review period should I give each change?
how long do I give google to revie and reindex? I ask, because the site is bouncing about all over the place at the moment, page 6 | Page 2 | page 22 | Page 14....

Another quick question, realistically after I have made a change, what review period should I give?, I've seen results initially fall in the SERPs only to rise at a later date?

Forgive my ignorance, OSE? thanks Brent.. the 75 domains are all job boards, part of a network, I used to use the footer area of each page to link to eacg of the boards, I'm slowly working on undoing this, do you think I should make that a priority?

I'd be grateful for a little feedback please;
This is my site, the home page
of which is targeting the phrase jobs in **** (I'm sure you can fill i the gap
:))
I've made a few changes recently which has included having the
Contract jobs in **** | Permanent Jobs in **** | Temporary Jobs in **** & Today’s
jobs in **** links added to the homepage...
Perhaps foolishly and impatiently, I did all of these at the
same time, whilst also changing the sites internal link structure, specifically
for all links to the homepage, which previously were like <a<br>href="/">Home and have now been changed to <a<br>href="/">jobs in ****</a<br></a<br>
Meaning that I have 4500 internal links with the anchor text
'jobs in ****'
But rather than seeing an improvement n my SERPs ranking, I have
gone from page 2 of Google to page 6, and falling......
Apart from being inpatient, what have I done wrong?

For this site the long tail keywords would be the anchor text of Pg1, Pg2 & Pg3 (breadcrumbs). The detail pages should have breadcrumb links like so -
site home page > Pg1 > Pg2 > detail page
Which would work for long tail keywords?
If so, the actual homepage breadcrumb, do I just use 'Home' or is there something more constructive that I could use possibly.
The site currently has 3500+ pages listed on Google, I was hoping to capitalise on how all but one of these link back to the most important page -- the home page...
Any thoughts greatly appreciated..

I've been puting some thught into my internal link structure, and looking at breadcrumbs, as it has recently occured to me that most of the pages on my site link to Home | Contact Us | and paes and anchor text like that. Don't get me wrong my home page is really important, but anchor text of home I'm assuming is doing me no good at all?
Anyway, here is my site home page
And three other pages that are included within the site >>
So the four pages are targeting differnt keywords
What I was planing on foing for Pg2 was having a breadcrumb trail that read like so
site home page > Pg1 > Pg2
And then have the detail pages link from that with breadcrumbs like
site home page > Pg1 > Pg2 > detail page
with the home page link anchor text being 'jobs in (site area)'
which would be followed by 'jobs in city' and then followed by 'sector jobs in city'
So the breadcrumb trail would read -
'jobs in (site area)' > 'jobs in city' > 'sector jobs in city'
So my question is, is this the best way of doing this, or would this be spammy?
Ultimately it would mean 500+ internal links pointing at my homepage with the desired keywords in the anchor text??

Thanks for the detailed response. A few questions, you say I have bigger problems than the 100 links/page - is that just that the sites are at risk of looking like a link farm, or are there bigger problems still?
I hear you on the fact that links in the footer carry less weight and on the consolidating aspect, and it is something that we are working on, but in the mean time, I would really like to find a way if possible to keep some form of cross connecting the sites.. We do have the detail pages which we don't need to be SEO primed, really we only need the -
SEO primed, you can see the different phrases (search patterns) that we are targeting; each site has hundreds of pages like this, that we don't necessarily need primed as these are only live for 28 days..
Is there an option to either include these links in either an iframe in the footer area (for user reference only) or on the detail pages?
Any other options that will work, that will not result in the sites being at risk of looking like a link farm?

But this still allows for both the www and non www versions of these pages to render in the browser, which is resulting in duplicate content.
On my home page I use --

They are all legitimate links, all 74 sites act as one larger site, or a network of sites. But the thing is when I removed the links I moved up in the SERPs...
What would be the best way of showing te links to visitors but hiding them from SERPs?

Quick question really, as far as the SERPs are concerned If I had a site with say 180 links on each page - 80 above suggested limit, would putting 'rel="nofollow"' on 80 of these be as good as only having 100 links per page?
Currently I have removed the links, but wereally need these as they point to networked sites that we own and are relevant...
But we dont want to look spammy...
