Wrinkles are caused by excessive contraction of your face muscles over many years. Anti-wrinkle injections are used to relax these muscles. They stop the muscles contracting excessively and therefore stop the formation of wrinkles, by preventing the signals sent via the nerves to your face muscles. For example, injections could be used to relax the muscles around your eyes to prevent the appearance of crow’s feet.
To perfect the treatment, a very small dose of protein is injected into the area via a needle. A cold pack is immediately applied to reduce pain and discomfort. The procedure usually only takes a few minutes. Most women will see the effect beginning to show in two or three days, while the optimum results take around seven to 10 days to take effect.
