Two Links, Same Anchor Text, To Same Page. Is There A Point?
-
Hey guys,
My question is this. Let's say I have an article, "How To Golf". I post this article onto my blog.
Then I write a complementary article to the first article called "Introduction To Golf". My plan is to submit this new article to various directories to build backlinks for the article on my blog.
So here lies my question. Say I am allowed two links from my new article to the one on my blog. The anchor text I am using is "golf".
Is there a point to including two links with the same anchor text (golf) in the new article pointing back to my blog article?
When Google spiders the complementary article will it consider the links two separate links with the anchor text "golf" or will it just count the two links as one link. After all, the two links have the same anchor text and are both pointing to the same page.

The idea I have on this topic, which I would like to test, is to provide links to the same page with different anchor points.
Using the above example, vitamin-a and vitamin-b would be anchor links to a specific part of the page. We know Google supports this method and will index the various links to a page. The results are common in SERPs, but the official notice from Google can be seen here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/using-named-anchors-to-identify.html
What I would like to see if more test results to measure if PR flows differently to anchor links as opposed to regular secondary links to a page. Some testing can be seen here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/using-anchor-links-to-make-google-ignore-the-first-link.

Hey Ryan,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer!
Second: What if in an article I have two links pointing to the same place but with a different anchor text. Will Google give the two links full value or will it only count one of them because they point to the same place and are both in the same article.
-
It sounds like you are offering two separate links, to two different sites, with different anchor text. In that case, both links would be provided full value and the anchor text would be associated with each link.
-
this is very interesting. If i had two sites with a similar theme and i had two links on that article, one with a anchor text for one word to one site and another anchor text for another site, would it ignore the second link
-
Google will only associated the anchor text to the first link discovered on a given page to a specific URL target. If the first anchor text is "golf" the second anchor text is irrelevant.

Backlinks vs External Links vs Referral Links vs Outbound links
Hello all, I was just wondering if you could explain the difference between all the links above? I'm confused as they all seem to be the same or similar and I would just like to clearly know what distinguishes them from eachother. Thanks for your help, Jayne

Naked link anchors or long tail anchors ?
Hi, Do naked link anchors such as "www.mysite.com/my-category" have the same SEO power as long tails anchors? What about the UX which such anchors? Lately a site published our back-to-school article with this horrible naked link anchor, it does not look friendly to me as a reader, but I am wondering whether I should bother, how important it is for google and for readers? Thank you in advance. Isabelle

For example: On a website there are items in the news listing that point to articles about a company that appear on online news sites; items that point to collateral hosted by vendors we use, etc. What tool can be used to provide a list of these links?

One of my best inbound links for PA and DA happens to be a footer link, curious if it's less valuable or has any value at all.

Link Detox and Link Removal
I have a question about which links to remove after running a link detox from Link Research Tools. First a little back story. I had had an SEO company link building for one of the websites I own. But I have recently stopped working with them. In the last month my rankings have near dropped off the charts. I have just recently gotten access to Google webmaster tools and noticed an unnatural link warning from back in March. So yesterday I ran link detox and it reported 19 toxic links, 120 suspicious links, and 24 healthy links. It's rather obvious that I should remove all of the toxic links. They all from sites that have been deindexed by google. But my question is a about the suspicious links. What should my criteria be for removing them? Am I better off removing them all and leaving my site with only 24 healthy links or should I personally comb through them and remove only the worst of the worst so that I leave my site with a few more links? I'd really like to get the site ready to resubmit to google as soon as I can. Thoughts? yyCOf.png

How many links with page authority to beat competition if we already score 62
How many links with page authority do I need to beat or get closer to competitor with page score 78 and domain authority score 72, if we already score 68 on page and 62 domain authority. This is in one of many beauty product markets. I ask because there is a company offering me for $80 each 10 links with higher than 70 page score (up to 80) and higher than 74 domain score (up to 86). All the other factors: number of links and social are almost the same for our website and the competitor's

Do links within imbeddable widgets carry link juice?
I'm dipping my toes into infographic design. On of my desired outcomes is to gain links by having other sites embed my graphic. I'm considering using Tableau's interactive data visualization software to do so; thus creating a widget, embedding it on my blog, and including the embed code for others to post. Is it possible to include a juice passing link in such an infographic? I know its possible to include links inside the tableau graphic but not sure if they have straight SEO value. If these links are not juice passing would it be better to go with a simple image link that passes value?
