My wordpress URL is breaking and there are 5000 not found urls in webmaster due to some code being added

%E2%80%9d. This code stands for double quotation marks - "

Now the question is, where has my site gone wrong? I will tell you the changes which i have made

      1. Deleted a Vbulletin forum - Half of the errors are due to the forum being deleted directly

      2. Upgraded to Wordpress 3.3 (crawl errors did not show on the same day. Much later)

      3. Upgraded to Blue host pro (crawl errors did not show on the same day. Much later)

These are some of the speculations. But nonetheless i have no idea why this is happening. To give further hints, the Home page URL is being added to the original URL.

      http://www.marketing91.com/article/http://www.marketing91.com

      http://www.marketing91.com/article/http://www.wrodpress.org

So these are a list of problems i am facing in URL. Now i have no idea why this is happening. I can account for the deletion of a vbulletin forum. But that accounts only for half of the crawl errors. So any replies or answers??

It must be the root of the problem as the offending links have "linksalpha.com" in them.

Dear Sha, I have now deleted the Ypast plugin for google analytics and have directly inserted the analytics code just before the /head section. Lets c. I think we will get to know the results in 2 days as webmaster takes 2 days to sort things out. But thanks for the answer.

Thanks a lot. I have deactivated the linksalpha plugin. It is a social network sharing plugin. I m ok with no social sharing if it just stops this problem.

I believe this is your problem, this plugin for WordPress.

                  Hi Hitesh,

Are you by any chance using the Google Analytics plugin for Wordpress from Yoast?

Your problem sounds quite similar to that described by Joe in this recent Q&A thread

After a great deal of investigation, Joe reported that he was using this plugin and this was a known issue.

If you can rule out the plugin first, then we can investigate further.

                  Hope that helps,

                  Sha

I can see your problem when i do the crawl, when i look at the page I can not see the offending links in the code.

So we can say it happaning dynamicaly. Try disabling addons. I have seen simullar urls in wordpress sites i have crawled.

                      SEO - New URL structure

Hi, Currently we have the following url structure for all pages, regardless of the hierarchy: domain.co.uk/page, such as domain/blog name. Can you, please confirm the following: 1. What is the benefit of organising the pages as a hierarchy, i.e. domain/features/feature-name or domain/industries/industry-name or domain/blog/blog name etc. 2. This will create too many 301s - what is Google's tolerance of redirects? Is it worth for us changing the url structure or would you only recommend to add breadcrumbs? Many thanks Katarina

URL - Well Formed or Malformed

Hi Mozzers, I've been mulling over whether my URLs could benefit a little SEO tweaking. I'd be grateful for your opinion. For instance, we've a product, a vintage (second hand), red Chanel bag. At the moment the URL is: www.vintageheirloom.com/vintage-chanel-bags/2.55-bags/red-2.55-classic-double-flap-bag-1362483150 Broken down... vintage-chanel-bags = this is the main product category, i.e. vintage chanel bags 2.55-bags = is a sub category of the main category above. They are vintage Chanel 2.55 bags, but I've not included 'vintage' again. 2.55 bags are a type of Chanel bag. red-2.55-classic-double-flap-bag = this is the product, the bag **1362483150 **= this is a unique id, to prevent the possibility of duplicate URLs As you no doubt can see we target, in particular, the phrase **vintage. **The actual bag / product title is: Vintage Chanel Red 2.55 classic double flap bag 10” / 25cm With this in mind, would I be better off trying to match the product name with the end of the URL as closely as possible? So a close match below would involve not repeating 'chanel' again: www.vintageheirloom.com/chanel-bags/2.55-bags/vintage-red-2.55-classic-double-flap-bag or an exact match below would involve repeating 'chanel': www.vintageheirloom.com/chanel-bags/2.55-bags/vintage-chanel-red-2.55-classic-double-flap-bag This may open up more flexibility to experiment with product terms like second hand, preowned etc. Maybe this is a bad idea as I'm removing the phrase 'vintage' from the main category. But this logical extension of this looks like keyword stuffing !! www.vintageheirloom.com/vintage-chanel-bags/vintage-2.55-bags/vintage-chanel-red-2.55-classic-double-flap-bag Maybe this is over analyzing, but I doubt it? Thanks for looking. Kevin

                      Authorship and Publisher on WordPress

I successfully enabled rel=publisher on our WordPress blog, and as a test I also enabled rel=authorship for a set of blog posts.  (Tested both in Google's Rich Snippets Tester.)  However, on the individual blog posts the publisher credit disappears.  Is there a way to enable both to appear on blog posts?

                      Duplicate Content and URL Capitalization

I have multiple URLs that SEOMoz is reporting as duplicate content.  The reason is that there are characters in the URL that may, or may not, be capitalized depending on user input. A couple examples are: www.househitz.com/Pennsylvania/Houses-for-sale www.househitz.com/Pennsylvania/houses-for-sale www.househitz.com/Pennsylvania/Houses-for-rent www.househitz.com/Pennsylvania/houses-for-rent There are currently thousands of instances of this on the site. Is this something I should spend effort to try and resolve (may not be minor effort), or should I just ignore it and move on?

Cyrillic letter in URL - Encoding

Hi all We are launching our site in Russia. As far as I can see by searching Google all sites have URLs in latin letters. Is there a special reason for this? - It seems that cyrillic letters also work. My technical staff says that it might give some encoding problems. Can anyone give me some insight into this? Thanks in advance.. / Kenneth

                      Singular vs plural in urls

In keyword research for an ecommerce site, I've found that widget, singular gets a lot more searches than widgets, plural AND is much less competitive. Is it better for SEO purposes to have the URLs (and matching title tags) in the catalog as /brass-widget.html, /steel-widget.html, etc., or /brass-widgets.html, etc.? I'm worried that a) searches for widgets will pass by the singular urls but not vice versa, and b) the singular form will strike visitors as bad grammar. Any advice?
