My wordpress URL is breaking and there are 5000 not found urls in webmaster due to some code being added

%E2%80%9d. This code stands for double quotation marks - "

Now the question is, where has my site gone wrong? I will tell you the changes which i have made

      1. Deleted a Vbulletin forum - Half of the errors are due to the forum being deleted directly

      2. Upgraded to Wordpress 3.3 (crawl errors did not show on the same day. Much later)

      3. Upgraded to Blue host pro (crawl errors did not show on the same day. Much later)

These are some of the speculations. But nonetheless i have no idea why this is happening. To give further hints, the Home page URL is being added to the original URL.

      http://www.marketing91.com/article/http://www.marketing91.com

      http://www.marketing91.com/article/http://www.wrodpress.org

So these are a list of problems i am facing in URL. Now i have no idea why this is happening. I can account for the deletion of a vbulletin forum. But that accounts only for half of the crawl errors. So any replies or answers??

It must be the root of the problem as the offending links have "linksalpha.com" in them.

Dear Sha, I have now deleted the Ypast plugin for google analytics and have directly inserted the analytics code just before the /head section. Lets c. I think we will get to know the results in 2 days as webmaster takes 2 days to sort things out. But thanks for the answer.

Thanks a lot. I have deactivated the linksalpha plugin. It is a social network sharing plugin. I m ok with no social sharing if it just stops this problem.

I believe this is your problem, this plugin for WordPress.

                  Hi Hitesh,

Are you by any chance using the Google Analytics plugin for Wordpress from Yoast?

Your problem sounds quite similar to that described by Joe in this recent Q&A thread

After a great deal of investigation, Joe reported that he was using this plugin and this was a known issue.

If you can rule out the plugin first, then we can investigate further.

                  Hope that helps,

                  Sha

I can see your problem when i do the crawl, when i look at the page I can not see the offending links in the code.

So we can say it happaning dynamicaly. Try disabling addons. I have seen simullar urls in wordpress sites i have crawled.

Backlinks that go to a redirected URL

Hey guys, just wondering, my client has 3 websites, 2 of 3 will be closed down and the domains will be permanently redirected to the 1 primary domain - however they have some high quality backlinks pointing the domains that will be redirected. How does this effective SEO? Domain One (primary - getting redesign and rebuilt) - not many backlinks
Domain Two (will redirect to Domain One) - has quality backlinks
Domain Three (will redirect to Domain One) - has quality backlinks When the new website is launched on Domain One I will contact the backlink providers and request they update their URL - i assume that would be the best.

                      Yoast and wordpress duplicate meta

I'm using the Yoast plugin with wordpress and have noticed in my HTML I have duplicate meta data. For example my header starts with
                      <title>(title) </title<span><<br /><meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">property</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">og:site_name</span><span>" </span><span class="html-attribute-name">content</span><span>=<br /><span><meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">property</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">og:description</span><span>" </span><span class="html-attribute-name">content</span><span>=<br /><br /></span></span>Then I have the 'This site is optimised by Yoast" tagline followed by the same meta -<br /> <span><meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">name</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">description</span><span>" </span><span class="html-attribute-name">content=<br /><span> <meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">property</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">og:title</span><span>" content=<br /><span> <meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">property</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">og:description</span><span>" </span><span class="html-attribute-name">content=<br /><span> <meta </span><span class="html-attribute-name">property</span><span>="</span><span class="html-attribute-value">og:site_name</span><span>" </span><span class="html-attribute-name">content</span><span>=<br /><br /></span></span></span></span>Is this likely to cause problems with Google and is there a way to stop both wordpress and Yoast adding meta to the header. </p></title>

                      Redirect URLS with 301 twice

Hello, I had asked my client to ask her web developer to move to a more simplified URL structure. There was a folder called "home" after the root which served no purpose. I asked for the URLs to be redirected using 301 to the new URLs which did not have this structure. However, the web developer didn't agree and decided to just rename the "home" folder "p". I don't know why he did this. We argued the case and he then created the URL structure we wanted. Initially he had 301 redirected the old URLS (the one with "Home") to his new version (the one with the "p"). When we asked for the more simplified URL after arguing, he just redirected all the "p" URLS to the PAGE NOT FOUND.  However, remember, all the original URLs are now being redirected to the PAGE NOT FOUND as a result. The problems I see are these unless he redirects again: The new simplified URLS  have to start from scratch to rank 2)We have duplicated content - two URLs with the same content Customers clicking products in the SERPs will currently find that they are being redirect to the 404 page. I understand that redirection has to occur but my questions are these: Is it ok to redirect twice with 301 - so old URL to the  "p" version then to final simplified version. Will link juice be lost doing this twice? If he redirects from the original URLS to the final version missing out the "p" version, what should happen to the "p" version - they are currently indexed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

                      Best URL format for pagination

We're currently changing the URL format of our website search, we have been discussing a lot and cannot decide the past way to pass the pagination parameter for SEO. We narrowed down to the options. www.website.com/apples/p2 - www.website.com/apples?page=2 - www.website.com/apples/page/2 What would give us best ranking returns? What do you think?

Drupal URL Aliases vs 301 Redirects + Do URL Aliases create duplicates?

Hi all! I have just begun work on a Drupal site which heavily uses the URL Aliases feature. I fear that it is creating duplicate links. For example:: we have http://www.URL.com/index.php and http://www.URL.com/ In addition we are about to switch a lot of links and want to keep the search engine benefit. Am I right in thinking URL aliases change the URL, while leaving the old URL live and without creating search engine friendly redirects such as 301s? Thanks for any help! Christian

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best xml sitemap plugin for wordpress sites or do you steer clear of plugins and use a sitemap generator then load it up to the root manually?
